For a start, it was one game (one where we had the better chances). If you think we're overrating ourselves by thinking we have a shot at the play offs, then fair enough I guess. I happen to disagree.

I cover Blackpool for their local paper and trust me, I know you don't have to be THAT special to be in contention for the top seven. Colchester, Wycombe, Stevenage and Cambridge were well in with a shout of that final spot and there was nothing special about them either.
I thought you support Newcastle. This is very strange.

This is very strange because I've definitely seen some of your posts referring to " we" in regards to the Toon. Perhaps I'm confusing you with someone else.

Nothing is won and lost in September, there are loads of points to play for, even FGR can win the title from here. I agree with Godsgift, plenty of twists and turns yet.

You did, but he's not really playing as a goal scoring striker as in the width of the 18 yard box. He's being used to run the channels, so most of the time he's not actually on the end of any chances.

Thats not because you're playing him that way, thats just what he does... Hes not a league two goal scorer.. never has been and won't be.

Is Ollie Palmer still awful?

Yeah yesterday was okay, we didn't lose which was nice, nor did we ever look like doing so. Decent atmosphere throughout from our end too which was also good to see given the feeling round the club ATM. Not sure if Lincoln forgot to print out song sheets for the 1500 extra fans this year. Poor noise for such a large following.

Defensively both sides were spot on (which is a minor Fucking miracle for us) but lacked any creativity. A well fought game which (and I can't believe I'm saying this) was for the most part, excellently officiated.

Two mid table sides playing out a mid table kind of game. Only one of those sides appear to have accepted that though.
I could hear the Lincoln fans on the radio commentary and did hear the usual 'comments' from guys around the commentary box and of course the usual 'mariners' from the pontoon.

I agree play offs is easy to reach in this league after seeing last season and this, all it takes is a bit of consistency.

That said it's also easy to not make them, because the majority of clubs have no consistency and every side with one or two exceptions can beat every other side, unlike the conference.

We were flying high in 6th when Hurst left and still could have made the play offs towards the end of the season but I don't remember any talk on here from most of us of actually contemplating making them, think most thought it would be nice but would be better to consolidate as a lge 2 side first before making another step up. Though we have ended up going backwards not forwards from last season.

Palmer is doing a decent job actually, scored a cracking goal Tuesday and unlucky not to get at least one more.
Doing as well as Angol.
You have Rose has scored a few and fallen over a fair bit, keep him fit you have a chance imho.
We missed out on Akinola that would have made a big difference for us as Green isn't getting that many chances (very unlucky with one yesterday)and have meant Green would have played a different role than he is for us.

Not really sure how Bostwick got that shot so wrong at the end.

Also, I don’t know why they showed Ben Davies’ shot but missed out the goalmouth scramble at Lincoln’s end. I suppose I should watch the full highlights for that though :err:

What's this I hear about Luke Summerfield suddenly turning into one of our best players? :bl:

I fully expected that when Rhead came on he would block a clearance with his arse and the ball would fly into the roof of our net: glad it didn't happen.

Strange comment. Why would we accept mid-table mediocrity when we're 11th in the league after just 11 games? I think that says it all about the current position of both clubs on and off the pitch at the moment, irrespective of what happened yesterday. We're looking up and aiming high while Grimsby seem content to stay safe in the middle of the table. It was only a few games ago some of you were discussing being in a relegation fight this season.

Again, it says a lot that we were disappointed only to pick up a point yesterday while you guys seem fairly satisfied with it.
I'm just trying to keep your feet on the ground. You're right, it does say a lot about our respective clubs. It says we are a lot more realistic than you lot right now. It's not about looking up or staying safe, for me. It's about knowing where you currently sit in the grand scheme. Right now, neither team is good enough to challenge for a playoff spot, in my opinion. If you're willing to have a wee bet, then I'll join the Lincoln Trust for a season if you get in the playoffs. You join the Mariners Trust if you don't. ;)

Interesting proposal. I'll respond to it once I return from my slap up meal in Louth.

What's the point of being a football fan if you don't have a glimmer of hope? Both clubs have had their fair share of despair, so forgive us for dreaming BIG with aspirations of finishing in 7th when we're currently 11th...

I'm more than happy to have a bet on this but I'm not sure if joining your Trust is a good idea! You only proposed that because you don't want to donate any money to 1FF  It could go towards funding another Nintendo giveaway...

It's the hope that kills you in the end, my friend.

But yeah, you are correct, I don't want to give money to 1FF and if I lose my other pre-seasom bets on here, I'll be giving the money to a charity of the respective poster's choice as opposed to 1FF. We could always just do this one that way too?

I'm happy to go along with that, so you might as well write a cheque for £50 to Crohn's and Colitis UK now :hypo:

If you're £50 confident then that's fine by me. I've got a few charities in mind, will have to make my choice closer to the time. :)

Damn, you called my bluff  £20 will do me.

Can I just say my confidence will be severely diminished if the Cowleys leave us before the end of the season...
