The final £350,000 has been raised by the clubs supporters trust, and fans, for our new fanzone.
Sutton United will possibly be the first visiting fans to enjoy a visit.

well at least the pitch looks fairly nice. As for the custard moat you have round the pitch - is that to slow down any pitch invaders?
It's inspired by the city's coat of arms, which is actually gold and not amber.

Synthetic turf will be placed on top to provide a soft area for running onto if a player goes off the pitch. Either that or its sand for when the egg chasers dig it up in the winter again.

Our new fanzone should be ready for late january or early february which means the 1st game it should be open for will be Forest Green Rovers or Swindon Town.

Will have to wait and see. Dave should see less games on it this season. Dragons have fewer fixtures than previously due to reorganisation of their league. Rumours that the other rugby team (Newport RFC) will be playing their home games elsewhere. Plus Cardiff Blues will be playing at their own ground this season and Wales U21s and Women football using other venues in Wales. The gamechanger will be Newport RFC not playing at RP, controversial as its been their home since 1877. If all that clicks into place there is no reason why the playing surface will not match those at Swansea, Bristol City, Brentford etc.

Maybe even ours since the one we have is exactly the same as the ones at Man City and PSG. Not forgetting Old Trafford and Wembley. Same company, same system. Our foreign shareholders paid for it.

Ours is the same system as Wembley apparently. Machinery / system used did Stamford Bridge before ours this summer and is now on its way to do the Camp Nou. I guess we have shared the cost with the Dragons.

First game at Vale Park for me in 532 days at the weekend and impressive improvements (aside from the teething problems with entry!)

Fan Zone was good, took my little girl to her first football game and it was great with the bar, ice cream stand and activities going on, she even got to meet Boomer and Carol and is another example of the clubs progress and being a real family friendly club (did have to divert around some posturing Rovers fans trying to fight our fans as we left mind!) best not mention that bit to Mummy if she wants to come again!

Great to actually have a visibly complete Vale Park for the first time in 23 years with the Lorne Street externally at least now complete, we now have the four sides and the paint job and sprucing up of the stands looks smart, hopefully soon the new seats can be used but need to complete the concourse (is going to be the family zone with trained carers or something I read so if kids get bored they can go and play in the concourse).

Overall its nice to see the improvements after years of decay and lack of investment under the previous two regimes. More to come but the visual improvements with the Lorne Street is massive compared to the eye sore it was.

Didn't you buy part of Sealand Road when Chester City moved to their new place in Wales.

I wish. No the ground is owned by the Welsh Rugby Union. Was a condition of the previous owners who funded the Dragons that Dave could only be sold to a "rugby" body, hence, why us, the council or anybody else didn't have an option to buy. That and fact that previous owners / Dragons owed millions to the WRU which was factored into the sale.
Allegedly there is a plan in place for the Dragons to be taken over by a consortium of local business people. The "cabbage patch" which is that piece of ground directly to the north of the ground with the cycling track round it will be developed by the WRU with profits split between the 4 rugby regions in Wales.

Not a COVID related improvement but an FYI for those who like a pie (or kebab) Dale have changed catering. Now run by the team behind successful pubs and restaurants in the area. The Flying Horse probably the main one that away fans will know.

Thank god as the catering went down hill in the last few years. Some decent scran on offer now.

As it happens Chester were the first set of away fans to be in there when the roof was installed on the Hamil End.
Our old cowshed roof ended up being the roof of an actual cowshed on a farm a few miles away.

How do you get away with not having it ready on time?
[/QUOTE]
If it was up to us it would have been! but the ground is owned by the welsh rugby union so it was up to them when the work started.

The brightly coloured runoffs would have been a big help when Jordan Green was with us.

If you're going to Rochdale away and you're not going to the chippy behind the away end then you're doing something wrong, a top quality chippy.

There was a rumour that had closed down, which would be hugely disappointing!

I am pretty sure i saw a chippy called Wan Kei in Cleethorpes once near to Grimsby Towns ground, it looked like the name suited it.
Beats the Tin Fook chippy name that used to be in Wallasey. Fook is pronounced fuck here .

It was open last week, but it's not in the top ten chippies in Rochdale imho. New caterers seem to have gone down well with the majority of our fans.
