You might be on to something there! Although, if anything is happening regarding managers/players I’m sure it’s all done beforehand in secret until the time is right.

I was going to say. Derek Adams clearly did a deal with Bradford in secret before/during the playoffs. Took Morecambe up and was straight outta there.

Players are the same. Do a deal in January with a view to a move when your contract runs out in June. Ease off a bit during games so you don’t pick up an injury in the meantime.

It sucks, but it is what it is.

That’s why he has to go now. Stay with you and have a meh season and his stock falls, go now and he’ll command a decent wage increase for 3 years. No brainer. It’s the life of us bottom feeders.
Happened with our last two, the Cowleys were constantly linked with other clubs especially so after the second promotion and left while their stock rising and went to Huddersfield.
Michael Appleton got us to within one game from the championship, was being linked with jobs during the summer, had an ordinary season, seemed to lose interest and left by mutual consent at the end of the season and now looking for work, sliding doors moment.

Absolutely delighted to see Scott Brown appointed as the new head coach at Fleetwood. Andy Pilley has a ( good ) track record of bringing through new unproven managers
Back in the non league days Tony Greenwood did a first class job and saw the club through a number of promotions. Micky Mellon followed up and got us in the EFL. Ditto Graham Alexander who in his 1st season at the club secured something like a 10th place finish. Uwe Rossler had a fantastic 1st season and then went off the boil. Ok we've had disappointments, 'Elvis Pressley ' did nothing and neither did Simon Grayson
We now have a very scottish feel at the club, Stephen Crainey, Barry Nicholson and Jordan Rossiter ( both ex Rangers ) and my missus who regularly tells me she is from the Kingdom of Fife.

Got to say theres something to look forward to next season, mind you thats not hard seeing as we saw a paltry 6 home wins all last year !!
Shame the bloke, Brown, is a full weight fucking bellend

Barnsley have made an official approach for Michael Duff. Nothing surprises me in football anymore, but I don't see him going just yet.

Also heard they're considering a move for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at Burton, so seems like their hedging their bets.

Edit: This tweet from a Barnsley journo seems to think it's far from settled

This may come as a disappointment to you, but I can see Duff moving sometime...but not yet...I don't see him going to Barnsley, they will be in our division next season after all, I think it is more likely to be a club like Burnley or maybe Bristol City, but probably a Championship side. Who knows, he may even be the next one to pass through the revolving door at Watford after Rob Edwards receives his marching orders!

Oh he'll definitely go - I've said that many times before. I just don't see him going to Barnsley.

A Bristol City or Cardiff are the ones that worry me. I think he's holding out to see what happens with Burnley this weekend. If they're relegated he might have a chance, if they're not then he has no chance.

Not management but Head of Recruitment (or whatever title your club gives it). Our Head of Recruitment, Mark Thomas has turned Pompey down to stay with us. According to our local rag, those in similar positions at Forest Green and Cambridge have also turned Pompey down.

They’ve really not covered themselves in glory to be publicly rejected three times!

Been given permission to speak to Barnsley by the sounds of it. Doesn’t mean he’ll go of course.

Exactly that - they've gone through all the right channels, and the club have told them if he wants to talk he's allowed to.

Apparently Dale Vince has identified the manager he wants to interview for the Rovers job...but is waiting for his current club to give permission to approach him. Haven't a clue who it is, but guess that rules out every manager who is currently out of work...unless Dale is telling porkies!

Ian Burchnall at Notts County has been linked.

Extremely annoying timing, but it’s baffling that we might lose IB to a team leagues above tbh.

Why is it baffling when they are leagues above ? Or is it the fact you are a bigger club and they are leagues above ?

I'd imagine it's more that they wouldn't think he's done a good enough job to justify moving up two divisions.

We were linked to Burchall as well, no idea if we got to speak to him or made an approach, but it's felt like he's got off lightly at Notts for some reason and his seemingly underwhelming spell has gone under the radar a bit because of things happening at other clubs - Stockport, Wrexham, Chesterfield being three. I reckon he should have had them doing better than he has since his arrival but that's perhaps unfair given my limited viewing from the outside.

jacobncfc is obviously better placed to give a view on that.

Not that, more that I think you’d struggle to argue that IB has done any better than about par this season, maybe a bit below, so it’s surprising to see him linked with jobs two leagues up.

He’s a good coach and really improved some of our players as individuals and the football is unarguably lovely to watch most of the time, but we’re not very good away from home, a bit of a shambles without the ball and laughably bad at trying to hold onto a lead.

He’s also got three years left on his contract here, so not as if it’d be a cheap punt for someone.

Now Wycombe are staying down in this division I wonder if Ainsworth will be off to QPR? They seem to want him there.

Blackburn also interested as well
Assume you are talking about Duff here...taking that job would probably count him out from ever managing Burnley, if that is his dream job, at least as far as their fans are concerned.

Ainsworth.
Aha...there are several managers, and clubs, being talked about on this thread...easy to get confused!

So in summary, Cheltenham and Wycombe fans are worried about their manager leaving, Barnsley don't currently have one, and Forest Green have arrived in the division without one...not sure if the situation regarding Joey Barton has been resolved either!

Have I missed anyone else?

Us losing Manning. That's why I hope Ainsworth goes to QPR (rather than Blackburn) as they were linked with Manning as well.

Phil Brown's available. :gr:
I like Phil Brown as a pundit on the radio, easy to listen to and seems to know what he is talking about...not sure I would want him in charge of my team though!
