Just because of how this has come about, how you've re-appointed the last two previous managers at the same time and the hokey cokey feel to it, I reckon this is up there with the Martin Allen/Barnet and Ferguson/McCann revolving door at Posh!

Does make you wonder if the Cambridge board know what they're doing. Going from Harris, to Monk and back to Harris hardly screams consistency in style of play? Or an admittance that the way they tried to go with a more footballing philosophy isn't going to work in L1 with a lower budget in the league? Mind you, they probably see them both as a safe pair of hands and sometimes you need that for a period, especially if it looks like relegation is a big possibility this season and a re-set needed for next.

The owners had very much made a conscious decision to try and change the style of football, believing it would help us attract better players, which is why they went over the DoF to appoint Monk themselves (supposedly). I'd be delighted if they've seen sense and realised that is absolutely mental for a club like us.

I didn't want Harris the first time, but let's be honest, he was managing a team in the top half of the Championship two months ago, presumably on a bottom third budget, we had no chance of getting anybody better, I'm not quite sure how they've managed to convince him to do it.

that seems a horrendous arse-about-face attitude to me.

I know everyone and their dog seems to want to play "progressive" (read: tippy-tappy) football these days - but the fact is, most players at this level simply aren't good enough to pull that off consistently.

There is of course the reverse argument that more gritty, pragmatic football is all very well if it gets the results, but if the football's grindy and hoofy and your team's *still* shite then things can go sour very quickly.

But personally I think most successful L1 teams can mix things up, they *can* get it down and play ball to feet (esp in the oppo final third) but can also grind out the ugly wins if needed, I can think of very few purist tippy tappy sides that have flourished at this level (though they do exist, Swansea under Martinez did very well that way).

Ryan Lowe will be all over that Wigan job, he must realise now that no Championship club will touch him.

Plus it's even closer to his house than Preston.

Not too sure myself, they don't have a pot to piss in and have been making cuts across the club the last 12 months. Whoever takes it IMO has a tough job on their hands.

Pretty much this, but literally any managerial job in the EFL will get a ton of applicants just because of how few jobs there are vs the number of people who want to manage.

But the quality of candidate they can attract may be tempered by the finances available (which would of course have just taken a further hit by having to pay off Maloney and team).

A few mentions of Paul Warne on the WAFC forum (everyone loves an ex-player), but who knows.

Another side whose season highlight was beating County, then fell off a cliff.

Nige "Nigel" Clough should take note.

We beat you all the time so any suggestion that's a seasonal highlight is at best naive, or at the other end of the scale stupid.

Barnsley should 100% be in the play-offs with that squad, It seems they really struggle at home but are a really good away side. Dunno who they go for next, Clarke would be a Clough replacement eventually I imagine tho!

Quick look on flashscores and they sit 3rd away 19th home, that is pretty bizarre.

Confirmed. So obvious, the wanker only wants a job where he is allowed to put in the bare minimum amount of work, and is allowed feed is ego on Sky Sports whenever possible.

Rob Elliot gone at Crawley.

Club statement 'We would like thank...'

Came across as a decent bloke and he was never given the tools to succeed but his record is awful.

If he pops up at your club one day be careful about judging him on his time here. He asked for some experience and physicality in January stating, openly, that was what is required to get us out of the relegation places and he never got it.

No manager, no keeper for Saturdays six pointer with Gas.

Nonsense timing, another “too little, too late” sacking.
