Not sure whether to laugh or be angry at that post.

MK Dons fans will be spitting tacks but it's kinda funny too.

Ainsworth leaving Shrews to go to Gillingham apparently - speculation on the Shrews board is that this may be due to the takeover of the club not happening.

Nothing official but local reporter says that Gillingham have met the release clause, they offered him a contract extension but wants to go.

Given all the talk of a promotion party and an exciting time around the corner with the takeover, it's not a huge leap to say any takiver falling through would be the reason he's going. I saw him in town 2 weeks ago and he said the same thing, that he's here to build something.

It's a great look for the club that Ainsworth is front and ce tee in all of the season ticket renewal promotions!

Now offical Ainsworth has gone
Wow!

That must be painful for Shrews fans. The only loyalty in football is among the fans.

You could spin it that it allows you time to get the right person in for next season.

if Ainsworth hasnt changed house, he still lives somewhere in Berkshire I think, so that’s an hour less on his commute I guess (not sure about Dobson).

Who knows what the real reasons were but I saw the open letter from the chairman saying that the Shrews takeover was still on, so that can be discounted as an excuse.

I would also worry about the recent revolving door at Gills - GA did great for us, but only given plenty of time to shape the club as he wanted - primarily cos we literally couldn’t afford to sack him at our lowest ebb.

I feel like he would have got that time at Shrews, not so much at Gills?

Anyway, done deal now, hoping that Shrews can get a good replacement in the door quickly. They’re pretty much gone, but hopefully a new gaffer can come in, get an idea of what he’s got to work with, cull the deadwood over the summer, and get in the right players for next season.

Don't know what to think! Having met him a couple of times he said the right things about being here for the long haul.

I think Ainsworth is based near Reading and was staying in a house in the town centre up here. His family didn't come with him. He was out and about in the town a lot and played at a couple of open mic nights in local pubs. Everyone bought into the positivity. He definetly would have been given the time with the fanbase. The poor recent results have largely been overlooked.

The thing with the open letter from the Chairman is that the exclusivity period for this takeover has been ongoing since the beginning of November, with no sniff as to the prospective buyers are. Tge prospective completion dates has shifted from Christmas, to the end of January, to March and now hopefully by the end of the season. What I do find a bit odd in the letter is that the chairman says Ainsworth was offered a 2 year extension following a positive meeting about the future. If you're looking at selling in the near future, surely a prospective buyer would prefer the option to bring in their own manager if the need we to arise? Ainsworth's contract ran to the end of next season in any case.

It's also not great that a club at the wrong end of the league below can tempt away the manager.

No chance that Blackman will stay on next season now. Wonder what Gape and in particular Wheeler who was tempted out of retirement must be thinking. Suppose the positive is we can have a new manager looking to pla ahead. There's a little of deadwood in the squad. The unknown is if or when this takeover will happen.

Wonder what sort of reception he'll get off you lot next season when you play the Gills (as it looks more than likely now)?
Judging by social media not a great one! It's the timing of it all and everything he's been saying in the media since he joined how he's here for the long haul

It was just lip service. It was just a job, and he was saying exactly what he knew the fans wanted to hear.

The only proper loyalty, is if you're an actual fan of the club, this bollux of kissing & patting the badge is more of it.
Ricketts the Snake, before he dropped us like ton of bricks to go to you, was the same. It's all BS....
