Yeah! great result for us against moneybags Margate! To be fair, they were the better side in the first half, but we tore them to shreds when Sweeney and Murrell-Williamson came off the bench in the second half. A decent away draw at Bury in the next round. Very winnable, but potentially tricky.

Dulwich & Tonbridge losing has really given us an edge in the table. 3 points off of 1st place with a game in hand (although 2nd place has 2 games in hand over 1st & 1 over us).

Is it too early to suggest Isthmian League title #4 is on it's way to Kingston?

A very disappointing result for us and a good one for you lot certainly puts you in the mix. We dominated almost the entire game against Needham, but they defended very well and actually look a very decent side. I have to say I'm very disappointed with what I've seen of Ryan Moss so far; he's been poor and I think we'd have won comfortably if either Willock (now at Merstham) or Erskine (injured) had been playing. Moss is supposed to be a highly mobile player, but doesn't seem to be making many runs; also, his touch is mediocre, he's hold-up play is almost non-existent, he's lacking in physical strength and presence and he doesn't look a threat in front of goal. Maybe he's just lacking in confidence and match fitness? How such a proven goalscorer at this level could look so poor is a bit beyond me to be honest!

Yeah I think he didn't get much game time at Margate before joining you so maybe just lacking his sharpness. Given time he should be able to destroy teams at Isthmian level like he did for us before.

Originally the Isthmian League was for clubs from London area, but it's basically been expanded to anywhere in the entire south east.

Re promotion, six go down from the Conference North/South, meaning the champions and playoff winners from the Northern, Southern, and Isthmian Premier divisions take their place.

The Isthmian Premier, Southern Premier and Northern Premier are the three feeder leagues to the Conference (oh, ok National Leagues) North and South so two teams are promoted from each league to replace the six clubs (three from each) relegated from the North/South.

In the Southern it can change though.....Corby last season ended up going North so they moved Oxford from Conference North to the Conference South

Looking at the Southern league title and playoff contenders

Poole, Chippenham, Hungerford, Dunstable, Weymouth, Dorchester & Hitchin would go South
Leamington, Kettering & Redditch would go North

Teams in Conference North who could be moved to the South: Gloucester, Lowestoft or Worcester

Effectively it does mean that you often end up with two Isthmian clubs going up to the South, while the two Southern League clubs are split between the North/South, although you do have oddities - eg Lowestoft being promoted from the Isthmian and ending up in the National League North. That's largely because, as Denzil says, its boundaries have shifted somewhat. Although the Isthmian is still predominantly filled with clubs from Greater London and the surrounding area (chiefly Surrey, Sussex, Kent and Essex) it does also contain clubs from Norfolk and Suffolk (although I think the Premier League is down to just one Suffolk club now).

Basically, along with the Spartan League which is one of its feeder leagues the Isthmian is the last remaining Greek- named league standing from the amateur days!

Also with Truro getting promoted it pretty much screwed over Lowestoft meaning they had to stay in the North

No way would they have them both in the South. Truro to Lowestoft is a 850+ mile round trip!! to put things in perspective, it would be the equivalent of going from Maidstone to Edinburgh and back

Still think there should be a 4th centrally based league at this level that those pesky East Anglian farmers can bugger off too. Would even out the north/south divide at Step 2 too.

I still cant get my head around how the Rymans has always managed to stay pretty regionalized yet the Southern League has to cover a lot bigger area

Some of the travelling in that league is pretty ridiculous for a socalled regional league

Kings Lynn, Kettering, Leamington, Merthyr, Bideford, Chippenham, Slough, St Neots, Weymouth, Cambridge, Histon, Hitchin, Redditch etc etc

Its pretty bizarre that theres more travelling in the Southern Premier than the Conference South

Sounds almost like our forum with regards to lack of goals. Sure he'll come good. Majorly short of match fitness after being a bit part player for most of the season.

League looks amazingly open at this stage.

He's do well at Maidstone me thinks, but I do feel bit cheated. Still, at the end of the day, I suppose he's just doing what he feels is best for his career. We can see a bit more of Dean McDonald/Jack Dixon/Damian Scannell et al now instead! Not bad options!
