How many brown envelopes does a treble cost these days?

Ounas has signed for Napoli. Would have been a decent option if we lose Mahrez. A bit lightweight but plenty of skills in there. Seems to be a thing with Algerians.

PAULO DYBALA, simply amazing in this beginning of the season.

Serie A has been of excellent quality recently, so this thread should be more active. Milan are up against Sampdoria today. Sampdoria have been very solid so far. This new Milan side kind of failed their big test against Lazio, but this is another really interesting challenge for them to show how much they have improved, and how well they are settling in together.

So far, Sampdoria have been the better team, and seem cool and in control. Hoping to see Milan get settled soon and play some good stuff.

Watched the first half hour of Milan/Juve last night. Two evenly matched sides really except that Juve have Higuain and Milan doesn't.

Milan have sacked Montella. No surprise really, they were pretty uninspiring again yesterday. Gennaro Gattuso has been promoted to temporary manager. Could be interesting.

Yeah, interested to see what Gattuso can do. The absence of organisation in the Milan team has made it really clear how vital it is. I don't know anything about his management style, but he should at least have the attention of the dressing room if it's anything like his playing style.

Wonder who'll be the first player he takes a swing at.

I attended the Milan - Torino game and no surprise to see Montella given the boot, the players looked like all they needed to do was turn up.

Kalinic up front for them is terrible, Suso is a luxury player too, he was garbage. Felt sorry for Andre Silva alongside them two.

Bonucci is a boss, Montolivio pulls strings and Zapata was solid. Kessie was very good in the second half too.

Man of the Match was Sirigu in goal for Torino, outstanding keeper.

Always felt sorry about the way we treated him. He was one of the first players we bought under the Qatari regime and hardly put a foot wrong. For some reason we bought Kevin Trapp (who has played zero minutes this season) and given him the #1 jersey a few seasons back. He had a few clangers and never seemed to be as reassuring as Sirigu can be. Same with Areola.
Not sure why we let Sirigu go if I'm honest.

Is this Napoli side managed by Sarri or Moyes? Full of low-quality crosses so far. Not sure why they are crossing at all, really, being a team of midgets.

Fair play to Benevento. Hell of a goal from their keeper. Probably more than NINe times out of TEN, those sort of things DO not go in, but they deserved a bit of luck.

In a confusing post-truth world where the terms celebrity and rapist are used interchangeably, there is something comfortingly traditional about the fact that two Italian giants just played out a goalless draw.

Any good?
Actually for them not really. It came with a pack of prosciutto ham and rocket that you had to manually apply after cooking which was a bit of a pain as that ham is stringy and doesn't cut easily; and it didn't have enough mozarella on it either. I did save £5 on it as it was going out of date when I bought it, but it wasn't great at all.

Had some of their mini chicken kievs tonight though with some beer battered onion rings, which were much more like it :D

Have been for years.

On a side note, Kaka has officially retired from the game today.

With no early kick-off on Saturday, I spent most of my afternoon watching Serie A and what a bore it was (actually the opening half of Inter/Lazio was better than United/Soton - which isn't saying much). Milan keep thinking that changing the manager is going to solve everything but something more rooted to the general goings-on at the club just seems not right. I refuse to believe that players like Suso or Cutrone are that shit.
Lazio looked better than Inter in the first half of the evening match. Shame they didn't score as this game deserved a goal tbh.

There has been an awful lot of goalless draws over the last few days of 2017. We all wish for something better for football in general but I really do wish that Serie A invests in youth development just to make football better to watch in the future. Again, the Italian FA seem to think that changing the head coach is the solution. Ventura was rightfully sacked and Carlo Ancelotti turned the job down. He said that he couldn't solve all the problems of Italian football. Now, if a man of Carlo's talent (arguably one of the best managers in the world despite his last few months at Bayern) says something like this it just seems that solving those very problems will constitute a mamooth task. No manager will be appointed before February as the new FA chairman will be elected on January 29 and it looks like it's going to be Ranieri. Good luck to him but I reckon it's an impossible job. Carlo did rightfully point out the difference between a manager at club level and coach of a national team. People are very quick to compare the two but it really isn't the same thing.

Just thought I'd write those lines as things are happening in Italian football and the next qualifying campaign promises to be key for its future.

Was in Milan over New Year and went to the Inter - Lazio game.

I'm not sure if it was just me, but I was slightly appalled at the low quality of the match (and this is from a Scottish football fan) no one seemed to be able to string much together. Maybe was just me perhaps or the seat I was sitting in...?

It was worth it for the San Siro though. What a stadium. The atmosphere inside is fantastic, people milling about, eating and drinking, looking overtly fashionable in a way only the Milanese can pull off. Lovely.

Thought Lazio were doing ok early on. I then switched between this game and the Man Utd/Southampton game so not focussing on anything at all but it didn't surprise me that it ended 0-0. I've seen worse Serie A games this season though (Inter/Juve springs to mind).

Glad you agree regarding the quality though. The lack of talent is obvious for all to see.

what on earth are you rambling on about? atalanta, fiorentina and milan start with an average age of 23-24 (among the lowest in europe), never mind the top 5 having a handful of under 23s as nailed starters.

last season the youngest debutant record was twice broken with genoa's pellegri and juve's kean at the age of 15, while there are more players below 21 with a price tag above 40 mil than in any of the top 5 leagues.

don't chat shit just because a mid-table italian team would easily beat anyone besides psg in ligue 1.
