Yes really.

We are a very mediocre football club, and will without doubt be a small fish in a very big pond next season. How a club such as City can look down their noses at a player with the ability and talent that JET has is quite simply staggering.

Don't get me wrong, I think Cotts has done a fantastic job, and I can only thank him for the great season we have enjoyed. But when it comes to JET, I think he's got it completely wrong.

Look down their nose!

How do you know he wasn't offered terms but the terms were not enough for him, or even it may have been his decision to move on?

Jet is a great player no doubt, but players come and players go, let's wait and see who SC brings in.

Bristol City will struggle in the Championship if they are releasing players like JET. Who are they going to get that's better?

You can only say that after they have made their signings for next season

Well we've predominantly played with Donaldson up front on his own this season. If we was to sign him, the vibe I’m getting from you guys is that he certainly isn’t a lone striker?

One thing with JET is that he can't play a fixed position, whether that be a lone striker or with a strike partner. However, play him in a free role in behind the striker with the ability to roam around and you'll consistently see the best of him, played this way he is incredible.

Last season under Sean O'Driscoll we were utter shite but O'Driscoll knew how to utilise him. Up until O'Driscoll's sacking he had scored 14 in 24 games with countless assists. Then when Cotterill came in he played him predominantly as a fixed striker with Baldock. JET only managed 7 in his next 31 games that season.

This season, although used sparingly, Cotterill has given him that roaming role and whenever he's appeared he's been consistently brilliant.

Also, ignore the comments that say he's lazy and has a bad attitude. That is bollocks, last season maybe his work rate could've been questioned, but whenever he's played he's put in a more than decent shift this season. Gutted he's gone, he'll be a great addition for you if you get him, as long as you don't play him in a fixed position. If that does happen you'll see the worst of him and wonder why on earth we rated him so highly!

Sorry, have I imagined all the negative posts I've read about him then?

Stupidest decision since we sold Bob Taylor to West Brom IMO.

Worst decision Cotterill has made since he's been here IMO - bad move.

JET possesses great quality - and is one of the most naturally gifted and skillful footballers I have EVER seen in a Bristol City shirt.

While JET may not be a 90 minute sprinter, give him the ball and he will do something. I think it summed it up perfectly for me on Sunday - where Agard was running tirelessly, but slipping at crucial moments - and squandering a few chances, whereas JET was picking up the ball, and almost effortlessly strolling past Walsall defenders, and making absolute mugs of them with his quick feet and close ball control.

Whoever picks up JET on a free will be laughing - some club are in for a great bit of business.

I was gutted about Baldock - but we got a decent fee for him, and the reason he was scoring so many was because he was playing alongside JET, and he setup a ridiculous amount of goals for him, and gave him so much space.

Thanks for all your efforts JET - the only shining light in the first half of last season, which was the worst for over a decade. Without you - we'd probably be somewhere in L2 right now, absolute class act. Thanks for your goals, your assists, your entertainment, the slow penalties, the celebrations - all of it.

They say you should never get emotionally attached to a footballer - but it's hard not too with JET, an incredibly likeable bloke, and a great pair of feet to go with it.

Whoever signs him - take care of the bloke, play to his strengths, and he'll be your star man.

JEEEEEEEEETTTTTT, JET WILL TEAR YOU APART, AGAIN...

No chance.
On his day, he's better than most players in the Championship.

Wenger once said - 'When his fitness is right, Jay will not only be a good player, but a great player.'

Some of the stuff he produces is unbelievable; and when on top of his game, you really wonder why he is playing at this level.

We managed 99 points in this league with him on the bench, he's replaceable.

And Aaron, no one said he's lazy.. And certainly no one said he has a bad attitude, completely the opporsit imo.

Wouldn't quite go that far!:P1:

On his day, he would take CD to the cleaners. He really is that good IF on top form!

I'm still pissed he's been released!

He played a MASSIVE part in that.

His form in the middle of the season when called upon was brilliant - he scored some fantastic goals, set up many, and formed a great partnership with one Matt Smith.

They both complimented eachother's playstyle in that partnership; but I can only imagine how lucky Smith must of felt playing alongside that man with the form he was in - he played a massive part in helping Smithy score all the fine goals that he did.

Well if that is the case then to have them both up front next season would be some attacking force :L

Yeah I know I didn't want him to leave personally, but to say he's irreplaceable is a bit extreme imo. He did a fantastic job when wilbs and Agard were injured, but for the most part he wasn't in the team and we did just fine without him. I'll reiterate though, I'd rather he stayed!

Agree it would - and I bet you Donaldson would be twice the player alongside JET.

JET again made Baldock look ridiculously good, by freeing up space for him, and providing him some cracking assists.

I agree - not irreplaceable, but to replace him would come at a pretty hefty cost I'd say - and the fact we're letting him go on a free is the concern I am trying to get across.

Maybe you should of made it clearer you meant the fans, as you stated " how a mediocre club can look down it's nose".

Last season letting Sam Baldock go was met with similar responses, didn't turn out so bad did it!

He'll also always be a legend for his goal against Rovers - send me into raptures that night.

We got £2m for Baldock - we did very well on that front.

This is a totally different kettle of fish.

Said to my Dad Sunday when he got subbed - 'I hope this isn't the last time I see him in a City shirt..'

And it was.

Didn't have much of a 'goodbye' feel about it, so I stayed positive on that front.

Biggest escape since Bolasie only a few years ago - and look how that has turned out. But - even with Bolasie, at least we got a sum and a sell-on clause!

Well Donaldson won top goal scorer, players' player and supporters' player of the year award on Sunday so if JET did improve him he would be pretty much unstoppable ;)

Just seen a stat that read 'Bristol City have won each of the 10 games Emmanuel-Thomas scored in this season'. Just for anyone who's interested aha :L

It sounds like you got the best out of him this season... but that was certainly the case when he played for us. Flashes of brilliance, when he decided to put a shift in - just didn't happen anywhere near often enough.

Perhaps he's got his head screwed on a little tighter now.

I guess it all depends on the manager and the coaching staff he's working with really. Perhaps someone like Gary Rowett would install the work rate into him if we did happen to sign him.

:sur: He needs a manager that installs the workrate? He had McCarthy for christ sake! The biggest motivator for that type of game. Mick even called him on it, see here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20494066

McCarthy did say he could go on to good things though: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23288356

I just don't think he's gunna be pulling up any trees in the Championship if he's off to Brum.
