Disappointed that no Tranmere fan added FGR to their lists of new rivals.
In two successive seasons that FGR & Tranmere were in same league, they met each other in a promotion play-off with one win apiece.
Yes without doubt we have a rivalry. Not one which has involved fistycuffs and long may that continue.

Of course, now that said I'm not sure the word inconsistent applies for us. In fact the problem is its all too consistent and predictable.

Not buying some of these behind the scenes stories, these things always seem to come out whatever the club when hitting a bad run of form. I do think it was a mistake to bring in McKirdy, didn't like it at the time and nothing have seen even in his contributions on the pitch have convinced me otherwise.

One of the most illuminating moments on Saturday was when Radio Stoke cut away to BoJo the clown and the iFollow stream was just without commentary but could hear everything on the pitch. Walsall were constantly talking both players and managerial staff. Vale by contrast there was nothing from either, doesn't appear to be any leaders in there or at least anyone prepared to be the bad cop in that dressing room and that is needed right now.

i'm with you, not sure i believe the the scare stories about unrest. there's bound to be some unrest if you have a big squad with senior players who don't get a look in. I can't imagine Theo Robinson/Cullen/Brisley/McKirdy are happy to not be playing and especially with the strikers, they barely even get scraps to feed off when they're chucked on for 1 game every 5 and then dropped from the squad the next week. if they're accepting of that situation then I'd be more worried.

I totally get that you don't mess about with a winning team. But in a compacted, unprecedented season and with a core group of aging players, he should be using his subs and his squad to our advantage. I'm not sure "fitness" is the reason for our second half horror shows but we may as well try and prevent those issues when we have 5 subs to use. Didn't do walsall any harm.

re the leadership - i know radio stoke mentioned it after the game on saturday, it's not something I'd noticed but it does make a lot of sense given some of the "defending" we've endured recently. Why we always seem to concede goals to unmarked players, why a cross gets put in adn you can't even see our two centre backs on the screen.

Into my 6th decade watching Tranmere and in all that time I’ve never seen more angrier fans than Bolton’s where ever we’ve played them.
Judging the Bolton Wanderers fans forums I would say that they have more of a rivalry with us than we do with them.
I started going in 1977 and never saw us play them until an FA Cup game in 1982-83. The one thing i do remember about that day is how their fans behaved. In particular my best mates brother needing 200 stitches in his thigh. He wasnt even going to the game because he didn't support us. He was walking to his girlfriends house. I will not, and cannot, deny we had our share of thugs at that time but they never randomly attacked people just for being in another clubs town. That wasn't the only incident that day. There is the cause of the hatred. They did not expect retribution. Certainly not the following day in their own homes. I am not condoning it but we did not start it. They did. They continue it. We do not. Even after last seasons game there were calls for a blanket lifetime ban on all of them from Prenton Park.

Its not a proper rivalry. You just have a habit of being annoying on the pitch.. I was in The Green Man before our play off final. It was heaving with our lot and a family of FGR fans wandered in. They were greeted with banter but respect. Nobody was nasty to your fans after the game either as far as i am aware. If they were then they are stupid. We ignored the Boreham Wood fan.

There really only two great rivalries in the lower leagues

Wrexham vs Chester
and
Chesterfield vs Mansfield

Mansfield and Chesterfield is a proper rivalry, I sorta miss it if I’m being honest. But I still enjoy the current circumstances.

Basically the PROPER rivalries are the ones ya dad wouldn’t let you go to as a kid, hence why I missed that Liam Lawerence goal all those years back, never quite got over missing that! :D

I went to that game, didn’t Neville Powell equalise for us. There was mayhem behind the main stand in the car park after the game. From what I saw that day, both teams hooligans were as guilty as one another. Have witnessed some really nasty incidents over the years involving our own, especially during that late 70’s early 80’s era . Have spoken to and read many accounts from other clubs older fans about their experiences in Birkenhead which have not been good.

The book Awaydays is far more sanitised than reality. One of the main protaganists of it all has written a book that cannot be published until his son has retired from football because of the grief it would cause him. No prizes for guessing who that is. Luckily most of our hooligan element have been banned.

Genuine question. Do Man Utd really consider Bolton as rivals? The other teams I get but I would have thought Utd's main rivals would be Liverpool, City and Leeds rather then Bolton?
you obviously dont live in Bolton.......Man Utd fans local to Manchester certainly do

Loads of Everton fans live in Prestatyn and Rhyl but it hardly makes them a rival.

Not tarring everybody with the same brush but the indisputable fact remains that Bolton have more thuggish fans percentage wise than the majority.

If we mean nothing to you why was your fan forum full of your foul mouthed knuckle draggers saying how much they hate us and how much they are looking forward to beating us last Saturday. Didn`t happen did it. Enjoy Dover, Borehamwood and Maidenhead on a Tuesday night.
