I see Masi is spreading his joy in this part of the forum now. Yay.
In actually positive news:
I can't wait until our trip to the New Meadow next season when, hopefully, arguably Cheltenham's two biggest legends will face off on the touchline.
We did not go into administration until the following spring but i do have certain sympathy for youI can’t hear the word Bolton without a shudder after they scored 2 late late goals against forest to send us down to league 1.
And then they went into admin after I recall.
I'd have given it to JFH but I know it doesn't work like that (and he's not been in charge that long)L1 Team of the Year.
McCann as Manager of the Year?! He's done the bare minimum with what he has at his disposal!

Were they expected to go to quite easily ?L1 Team of the Year.

Don't really see how it's more even when there's four Sunderland players in here and four Norwich players in the Championship team. And with two players from Hull and three from Peterborough, this is a far less even spread in this team than the Championship team of the season. Were they expected to go to quite easily ?
More of an even spread in this team compared to the Championship one which is basically Norwich.
Fair points and yes it often goes to the title winner .Don't really see how it's more even when there's four Sunderland players in here and four Norwich players in the Championship team. No shock that the manager likely to win the title gets Manager of the Season either, even if it is exactly what was expected of them.

Appleton for me.
Lincoln, whilst not rank outsiders, were not widely tipped to go up this year and yet they have been around the top of the league for most of the season despite at times a crippling injury list.
The mark of a good manager for me is when they create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Appleton has done that in my humble opinion.
AgreedJFH would have been in with a shout but probably wasn't there early enough.
There could be an argument that he’s riding on the Cowleys tail coats and that they *might* yet fuck up the playoffs.Appleton for me, not only because he is an Imp, but doing so well with the youngest squad in the entire FL? Whether that’s true or not we have what’s looking like a probable play off place and doing it with a 40% budget cut. Even if we don’t get into them it’s been a wonderful season.
Agreed..There could be an argument that he’s riding on the Cowleys tail coats and that they *might* yet fuck up the playoffs.
When these things are announced it always seems a little too early.

They certainly did a fantastic job and left us in a great position, but actually I think following them was a really tall order. You only need to look at Man United or Arsenal to see how difficult it is to follow somebody who has turned a club around - how many times have we seen a good young manager do well, get a club promoted a divison or two, and then when they leave the club goes back to where they were?
We only have one player left from the Cowleys. Appleton has completely changed the playing style, on a budget cut of 40%, and has massively over-achieved. We might yet fuck up the play offs, which will be disappointing, but even if we do this has been a season that has massively exceeded expectations. We're competing against teams who have budgets and squads that are many times ours.
Without a doubt he should be manager of the season. Massive respect also to JFH.
Looks a good team to be honest. You can’t argue that team wouldn’t walk this league as it would. Probably biased but I’d say Pickering is the best left back in the league 1 and better than Elder. I’d have also tried to put Malik Wilks in he impressed me in both games vs Hull this season.L1 Team of the Year.

Sad news today, our Academy coach and ex-player Alan McLoughlin has died today aged 54. He scored the winning goal at Wembley in 1990 that would have seen us promoted to the top division and also scored the goal that took the Republic to USA 94. Great midfielder also fondly thought of at Portsmouth. RIP
