Saw this elsewhere:

Surely there is more to this than just being suspended for using the word “handbags “?

Turns out it was that and also "[he's] being a bit of a drama queen…he’d have been better wearing a skirt."

He'll have said far worse down the years - probably even over the last year or two!

Parkinson gone at Sunderland. They never seemed to take to him up there but after a slow start, they were bang in form when the season ended. Bit of a slow start this season but still well placed IMO.

Didn't realise they had that many vacancies in key positions!

That should go a long way to keeping all the clubs afloat until fans are fully back

Until they piss it up against the wall in the January window!!!
Doubt the initial 375k per club will go far in that respect. Won't go far in any respect actually.

And any club applying for more it appears will have strict rules and restrictions over what they can do transfer-wise.

Did anyone go to games over the past 2 nights?

What was it like - better than nothing or a bit stale and surreal.

EFL
The £375k x 24 =£9m £250k x 24 = £6 m Total £15million. That accounts for half the initial £30m Grant

The other £15 m of the £30m will be distributed according to lost gate receipts.

None of those elements are loans

There is a further hardship fund of £20m available to be used across both leagues.

Again this would be a grant, NOT a loan and is available for clubs to draw on. Providing the club adheres to EFL financial regulations after receipt, this amount does not become repayable.

Only if an EFL club breach financial regulations will they have to pay back whatever they have drawn from the hardship fund, in whole or in part depending on the severity of the transgression.

All done on evidence based request submitted to the EFL.

That is my understanding.

Gills fans, any idea why our game tomorrow is kicking off at 1?
They've kicked off at 1pm for all their home games this season I think. They start their midweek ones earlier, too.

You are correct Mr Imp.

Not 100% sure why but I believe the thinking behind it is that supporters at home are not greatly inconvenienced and it means the visiting teams can back home at a more reasonable hour

Thanks LW. I guess that kind of makes sense, although do Plymouth do the same?

I wondered if it might be the club saving money by not needing to use the floodlights!!

Our captain Perry Ng has been given a 6 game ban for spitting water in the direction of a Cheltenham coach last week. Can’t really argue with the punishment. Stupid and disgusting thing to do at anytime never mind in a pandemic. Hopefully he learns. But with him out of contract in the summer it’s a good opportunity to see what another academy graduate can do in Travis Johnson.

We are happy to start at 7 midweek but Saturdays are 3pm. Maybe someone thinks “welcome to my world”. There is in truth logically no reason why up until tomorrow we could not have started at 1 if clubs stay overnight. But if they were coming down that day this presumably could be an issue.

That is a theory put out by some of our fans who think our chairman is tighter than a camels arse in a sandstorm but in reality it would make little difference as this time of year they need to be on by half time anyway

I always thought it was because of traffic around Bluewater and then dealing with the M25? 1pm kick off means probably missing the worst of the traffic around Bluey and 6pm‘s avoiding the M25 rush hour for visiting teams.

Sunderland fans not happy with Lee Johnson being appointed.

Expected a bigger name it seems.

That’s not a fan theory, it’s been said by the club itself.

Sunderland have apparently had 8 positive Covid test results following our game at the weekend, and the first four players named started against us, so I'm assuming we're now having to be tested ahead of Northampton at the weekend (Appleton seems to think we were due an EFL one anyway).

10 days would take Northampton (a) and Burton (h) out the schedule.

We’re on against nobody, Sky don’t like us ever since we refused to move a game against Barnsley from Saturday to Tuesday.

taking away play off games and JPT final, we’ve not had a game live on Sky since January 2008, and even then we were playing Leeds so the cameras were only only there because of them.

Sky really aren’t interested in anything below the championship. I wish the EFL could split the package and let someone else show league 1&2. The conference get better tv coverage.

Quest should get 1 League 1 and 1 League 2 game a week when things are back to normal. Sky should outsource it. League Two has only had two games shown this season after all! Doesn't have to be a massively slick production, few cameras, doesn't even need pundits. Just one commentator at the grounds.

Live football coverage is in the midst of a revamp due to covid anyway. It used to be the novelty of having the cameras there, actually being able to see it live outside of the ground. With iFollow, there's virtually no prestige in having a 'live' game anymore.

We've seen the conventional way of doing it is going out of the window in the Premier League. 5:30pm midweek kick offs, BBC showing multiple FA Cup games on iPlayer, Amazon showing every single match live on a match day, programmes showing every match and doing the channel hopping for you. Etc etc. I think that's the way football coverage is heading. Rather than individual games, it'll be a matter of saturating. Even when crowds return full time, money talks and if someone like Amazon want every game live, they'll get it.

In short, I think covering several games 'live' at once is the way forward. A featured game + dipping in and out of a handful (and more) other games. It would hold people's interest a lot more than a randomly picked single game at this level. As the BBC have shown with the FA Cup, it's so easy to do now every game is live on iFollow anyway.

We’ve binned off Ifollow and now doing it all in house and it’s bloody brilliant.

Was the first production on Saturday, coverage started at 2.15pm and presented by Scott Minto, interviews with players and Bowyer both before and after the game.

Multiple camera angles and replays.

The whole production was around 3 hours.
