Sounds like this deal for Wigan is the same 21 year old who has been going after Morecambe for months.

Doesn't sound the answer to all their prayers to me.

Did that one fall through with Morecambe? He won ahead of Fury initially didn't he? Wigan is a completely different kettle of fish to Morecambe in terms of ownership.

Surely whoever takes over is just going to hemorrhage cash immediately as the wage bill is still massive and sounds like they may struggle to shift the highest earners. Unless you are local why would you just waste millions immediately? Are people banking on getting them back to the prem to then 'cash in' or sell the club later down the line? Feel like more points penalties are pending later on this season.

How can the EFL even consider this as an option if they were just proven to not be suitable for Morecambe?

I have not kept up to date with the Charlton ownership saga but I thought the guy that was selling was supposed to be a more stable pair of hands, what has caused him to sell? Also does belgian ex owner still own the stadium etc?

He certainly is a more stable pair of hands and saved us from certain admin for which we’re grateful however, if transpired that he’s a complete fruit loop with misconceived ideas of English football and running a football club, tried to change too many things which was just pissing off the fan base.

He thought it would be easy, but he bought a damaged football club that has been through the ringer and was losing money hand over fist and has realised he was in way over his head. Don’t think he’s a bad bloke, this just is not the industry for him.

As for the new lot, as ever, I’ll reserve judgement but based on the previous decade, I’m hopeful rather than optimistic because yes, as you say the Belgian is still holding The Valley and training ground to a King’s ransom, largely in thanks to that criminal Matt Southall and his cronies.

Think it was 10 years when the new owner took over and negotiated the lease, I could be wrong on that and think it’s about 500k a year for the ground and training ground.

Unfortunately, Southall said he’d pay £50m for it which was obviously never going to happen but now Dutchatelet is holding out for that but no serious person is paying it, obviously.

I’d be distraught to leave The Valley, hopefully will never come to that as the council have previously said the site isn’t to be used for housing, Dutchatelet is into his 70s now and not the healthiest, so hopefully he croaks it soon enough and his son will just want shot of it so it can be bought for a sensible figure.

Incidentally, I’m currently on my balcony in Zakinthos having a Mythos looking out over to Kefalonia.

Wigan will always get new owners because the set up is impressive it is much easier to sell Wigan with all the facilities than say Carlisle with theirs.

It doesn’t mean much as the income both get is similar but they need an owner to realise their spending needs to be managed better, they still have a chance of championship like most here.

The main thing reassuring me that we won't is that under Simmo we always go on a really impressive run of good form at some point. We'll go into double figures on an unbeaten run, or win half a dozen or more or something similar. If we're struggling it might be what keeps us up.

We desperately need Henderson to get sold from Man utd to Forest for around £30 million perhaps.
The percentage we get from that should clear our debts and give us some spending to strengthen our team so we can hold our own up here. I just can't forget that the current team struggled very much against the better sides in L2 and we only won something like 2 games in 11 at the back end of the season before the play offs.

They have been ran diabolically but they as a club are to blame, their directors and owners knew exactly what they were paying to players . The fans didn't seem to mind when they were spending a fortune and offering players ridiculous money. This is not the EFL's fault and if anything they have been too lenient with them. I hope we get a 46 game season though as their irresponsible management could cost every team in the league income from one less matchday.

It's just that their fans come across as so entitled and theyreally believe they have been hard done by. Clubs shouldn't allow themselves to be totally reliant on owners to pay the bills, though many do. It is not right that they would be within the rules if the owners hadn't stopped bankrolling them. There should be a strict rule that clubs can only spend 125% of revenue on outgoings or something on those lines. Current FFP rules are too easy to manipulate, look at Chelsea.

Also, I realise that they are not popular with many football fans, but spare a thought for MK Dons who finished 3rd on the last day, blew the play offs and now find themselves in League 2.

And they say cheats don't prosper, they do in the EFL.
