I don't think replacing our player of the season would be top of our list of priorities if we were to get promotion.

From the little I have seen from Flint he's a towering presence at centre back but very poor with the ball at his feet. Ayling and your other defenders (sorry can't remember them off the top of my head) are the opposite and I think help Flint immensely.

We play the three CB's with Flint in the middle between Williams and Ayling. He has improved with the ball at his feet, as he has done with most aspects of his game, but obviously that's not his job. He has two relatively pacey CB's that are comfortable with the ball at their feet alongside him. What Flint has to do, he does tremendously well and he has been our player of the season, in my eyes.

Flints role is largely the "no nonsense" defender.. There to head away any long balls, Ayling and Williams are the more quicker players that prevent the opposition getting in behind. Saying all that though, flints been more than comfortable with the ball at his feet this season.

That was the point I was trying to make but you made it better! :)

Against West Ham whenever Flint got it he tried long balls which more often than not went straight through to the goalkeeper.

None of our players played balls forward well against West Ham. We had an off-day offensively - particularly Freeman and JET.

Somebody buy this Swindon fan a pint.

Don't mind if I do Heisenberg!

I joined up here to have some decent chat with fellow league 1 supporters. It just seems that more often than not between us and City fans that it descends into petty point scoring squabbles best left to the playground!

There are some cracking posters on here from all teams, I just wish the football played a bigger part sometimes!

Think that little stat will be blown at Bradford sadly. Not sure why, just very worried about the next one.

Probably because of the state of their pitch, possible rearrangement of the back four and lack of rest beforehand. Last time we played a game with only a day's rest between matches we got thumped 0-3 by Walsall.

...although that was Walsall though and they always seem to do that to us.

The old saying comes back into play, points in the bag are better than games in hand. MK could have been 6-7 points clear with there games in hand just a month or so ago, now you've played a game more but still in the same position. Football, strange game! o_O

But the thing was, that you were all bragging how you would be top off the league after you won all your games in hand, saying we will get 3 points here and 3 points there, counting your eggs before they hatch is not a clever idea!

I certainly never said that and to be fair, we were top of the league at one point and we were 2nd and above you 2 days ago...

I said before tonights game that we would struggle, as did many other Dons fans. Any team would have struggled tonight, including Bristol and Swindon.

This appears, with 3 home games, to be our opportunity to put some points between ourselves and 3rd place. Just the 9 points needed then!

Still hanging on in there.

It's a big IF but we should play twice before Swindon & Bristol City are in league action again (home to Barnsley and away at Scunthorpe on Tuesday week). Win them both and we'll be top.

However, I hear a rumour that Swindon are trying to re-arrange a home game against Doncaster for next Saturday. Any news on that?
There was more on TFF but ...........

Us City and Swindon fans will need to tone it down a bit next month as THAT game approaches or we will wreck this forum. Let's try and keep a lid on it eh lads?
It's looking quite good for the western boys I must say, especially given Scumarmy's admission that he thinks they are playing for 2nd place. :fish:

Well we still have to play Swindon and our run in is easier than Swindon's...

I was just going to ask if you still had to play them. Where? That would be a snorter!

At their place in April. Going to be a huge game but we have more of a chance at that game than tonight's.

Always nice when teams around you drop points but nobody should be getting too excited yet. We lost a couple of weeks ago and City have lost to the likes of Crewe (with all respect). If we were to get beat tomorrow and Preston win they'll be knocking on the automatic door again.

Staying relaxed and hoping we stay right in the mix, as there will be many alterations in positions before the season finishes.

Looking at those fixtures, theres a couple of minefields for both teams over the course of that month, Brizzel, you and preston for us, whilst you have us, scunny, Rochdale(no mugs at home) and Fleetwood away, April will sort the men from the boys .

Spot on BB. I sill don't think Preston are out of it, both Swindon and ourselves have to go to Deepdale and I'm sure our lot aren't looking forward to going to Bradford and Chesterfield.
Nothing is sorted yet, by a long way but it's been a good few days for both City and Swindon, on the pitch anyway.

Yeah i know , but with the points that the top 3 have its going to need an almighty loss of form for the 3 of us not to be involved now in the auto battle for promotion. The thing is with just about a third of the season remaining, this season we all know that the 3 of us are going to be in with a shout to be champions, of all the leagues this season, league one is going to be the league to watch for the excitement that could all be finalised on the last day of the season.

Big opportunity for us tonight (and City I suppose). We're in a position where even a point would represent a gain on MK and three would mean a bit of a cushion going into the weekend's games.
