We have a right to be posting in this thread, but don't see us as contenders unfortunately. If we keep Doyle, Morsy, Ryand Cluclas at the end od Jan and find some consistency we may have a shout.

we are certainly no worse than Bradford and Sheffield United and thought Rochdale were poor.

Oldam were decent, as were Preston at times but best side we have played were Swindon by an absolute mile - they should go up automatically with the rest left fighting it out

Fleetwood next for us at home, not until feb 1st though... Then MK away, followed by port vale and Sheffield utd at home. Not easy games tbh.

MK will be the easiest.

We all know the that a team can be average all season, scrape in to the play-offs and win them.

Your season is nowhere near over.

I suppose preston and mk dons have got poor playoff records too so there could be a chance

Chesterfield are the only side that dominated possession against us (2nd half) all season.

Just missing that certain something in the area.

Impressive

Thought 2nd half we created a few decent chances without being clinical. Saying that even in the first half when weren't great we created chances and Armand shouls have scored with a fresh air kick he had and Ryan's volley on another day flies in off the underside of the bar. The team were rightly clapped off at the end and the fans rightly were still right behind the team until the end of the game. Performance was alright just sloppy at the back, if we cut that out we may have got something.

FWIT - you'll win the league in my opinion.

Yeah. You seemed very easy to pass through at the back.

Hardest thing in football to keep it tight at the back while creating chances up front.

Top 6 for you I reckon

After MK away, Chesterfield are the best side we've played this season I reckon, and at home too. If they keep playing like that, they'll make the play-offs, which suggests it's going to be quite a scrap between Sheff. Utd., Rochdale, Bradford and everyone else down to Walsall for the other place (the top 4 won't miss out, even if PNE are having a little wobble at the moment).

I really liked the no. 3 (despite the red card challenge on Nathan T in the 2nd half); he had the beating of Byrne all game. In the 2nd half, no. 8 and 5 ran the midfield, recycling possession with ease. We just couldn't get on the ball until Anton Rodgers came on for the last 10 minutes and got us passing again. But their final ball was poor which was the difference between the teams. However, the first half volley against the bar by Chersterfield was a brilliant bit of skill, very unlucky that didn't go in.

Andy Williams looks like a top championship striker at the moment, and if he keeps this form, he'll reach 30 goals by the end of the season. Doyle was unfortunately anonymous; I was looking forwards to seeing him.

Sorry for the rest of you: I'd have put this in a Swindon v Chesterfield thread, but didn't see one.

Fair summary that - 8 and 5 for us are Morsy and Ryan who are a class above and we must keep them if we are to build on our position. If we got in the play offs it would be an unbelievable achievement with our squad and budget.

Doyle has the tendency to be completely anonymous and pop up with a goal from nowhere - he isn't going to get the ball run 40 yards, take people on and smash it into the net he is just a poacher - which is kind of why yesterday frustrated me as Jones, Roberts and Clucas all put balls into the box which were begging him to tap in but they either didn't fall to anyone or fell to Gnaduillet who was poor.

Hope you are right but I still see us finishing around 10th-14th and having a go next year.

Well, you know better than me whether you can keep performing like this. So instead I'll say:

1 Bristol City
2 Swindon Town
----------------------------------
3 MK Dons
4 Sheff Utd
5 PNE
6 Rochdale

And in time honoured fashion, 6th place will win the playoffs, so well done Rochdale!

You were impressive going forward yesterday and it was a pleasure to see a side come to the County Ground and have a go.

However, your backline was all over the shop and will be what prevents promotion this season.

Think MK Dons may still come through and win the league. Between the other 3 for 2nd spot - not ruled out Preston yet.

Sheffield United will get their act together eventually and make 5th. 6th could be Chesterfield I think as they looked good.

Good win for us at the weekend and I think MK and Swindon will struggle at Glanford Park personally.
And do not tell me there are even more Swindon fans on this new forum?!

That final spot could be any of about 10 teams but those 2 were the best out of the them against us so I'll go between them. Think Doncaster may be an outside shot as well

Cannot envisage City not going up - whether 1st or 2nd doesn't matter.

We have done fantastically well so far but still not shaken off MK.

I think Preston have shot their bolt for the autos and the other 2 PO places are up for grabs - I'll go for

Bristol City
Swindon

MK
Preston
Chesterfield
Sheff Utd

We need to beat Rochdale tomorrow. We've done it already, fairly comfortably too, so no reason why we can't. They were missing Henderson & Done in the first game though, so they'll provide a better test this time around.

A win though, and we're right back in the hunt again before a trip down to Gillingham.

There is no way Bristol City won't go up. I still fancy Swindon's 'gung ho' approach to cause them some issues eventually, especially if they don't keep the goal flying in at the other end. They beat us 4-1 at the Bescot and are/were the best side I've seen all season, but in the first half we got down the side of them and in behind more than I can remember us vs any other team this season and I can just see a strange result upsetting them at some point - hope not though as I like Swindon.

Much of a muchness thereafter, Preston will have a JPT final and Wembley day out to look forward too so that may alleviate league pressure and let them quietly sneak up. Blades will go nowhere under Clough and MK Dons seem to be slightly soft still (AGAIN).

You've got a 2 goal lead over Preston in the 2nd leg, and have already pasted them 3-0 at the Bescot this season.

Less of the pessimism, you're already at Wembley.

I've started to have the nagging feeling that we're going to end up at Wembley.

Bristol City
MK Dons
---------------------
Swindon
Preston
Sheffield United
Chesterfield

Swindon/Sheffield United final, with Town finally crossing the line.

Bristol City
Swindon
-------------------------
MK Dons
Preston
Chesterfield
Rochdale

With Chesterfield going up.

Going by Saturdays performance, Chesterfield were very very good attacking wise. I know they have Doyle, but they seemed to lack that killer instict to have catch up with the Top 4. But I can see them getting a playoff place and beating Preston in the Semi's and Rochdale in the final.

If the Top 4 keep up at their current pace, which I think they will, to finish in the playoffs is going to be crushing and I can't imagine them progressing into the Final.
