Can everyone stop being so certain we're going up please? I don't like it... means we're bound to fuck it up

I think you'll find that people looking in from the outside probably have more insight than those of us too closely attached to our respective clubs.

Forever expecting calamity based on nothing apart from disbelief that things are going well

Still time for any of the top 4 to go to pieces.

We all have strong squads and I don't see the consistency from any side below Preston to make me think any of us will finish below 4th...but it's only mid January.

Our biggest challenge is not getting tempted to cash in with no time to bring a replacement.

I think all 4 of us are in our own mini league though. One of us at least will be devastated at seasons end. No World Cup or Euros to ease the pain either...just fucking Cricket.

Swindon seem to be getting the better reviews at the moment but we continue to pick up points. 10 wins in the last 12 games, all competitions. What a season and finale this is going to be.

Cant really see past City and Swindon. (Hopefully in that order)

Think we've been the most consistent side in the division so far. Only thing that could find us out I reckon could be number of games. (Or more to the point lack of free midweeks)

We seem to be consolidating well in League 1. If that consolidation results in us arriving in The Championship ahead of schedule, that's not our fault...

That's true, I remember Wolves fans being like it last season. I'm actually quite confident considering it's City, got a bet on it and everything, but it still feels like it's setting us up for a fall :(

Managed to grind out a win from a tough game Saturday, which we wouldn't have done a couple of seasons ago.
I think the team have it in them to be able to stay the distance, so I think we'll be ok.

Best chance we have had in years to move back to Division Two. My gut feeling is that, at last, it is our turn again. There have been so many 'smaller' clubs with fewer resources than we have who have played at that level since 2000 (the last time we were there).

Unless we completely implode, a play-off place or better is pretty much guaranteed. But I would hate to have to resort to that route this time. The play-offs are a lottery. I need a nice, clean top 2 finish this season.

April is the one.

MK Dons (h) and Bristol City (a) in the space of 4 days. Rochdale away, and Preston away penultimate game of the season.

Tough. We need to go into April in a healthy state. Might struggle to get back into the top two if we're playing catch up at that stage.

Tough April for us aswell. Yourselves obviously at home, with trips to Oldham, PNE, Bradford and Chesterfield.

That was a very good win Saturday for our boys. Scunny have been in terrific form! Shame Mark Robins was so bitter after the game.

I can't see Swindon budging now, it will come down to April.

I got a feeling mk will buy themselves an advantage during this transfer window to join bristol city in going up in the autos.
Sooner the window shuts the better.

We have achieved way above my expectations i thought we'd struggle to stay up. We need to make this happen now as our squad will be torn apart at the end of the season otherwise.

Possibly, everything I've heard is more players to join, but no real spending, only loans and free agents. Keith Andrews joining us could really give us a boost if the whole fiasco with Watford trying to get as much out of ht deal as possible ever gets resolved. It'd mean we have good options in the middle and can play Dele Alli in his natural no.10 role which should go some way to making up for the goals Afobe was otherwise scoring before he left. Alli scored bucketloads playing most of his academy career in that position.

On the other hand, out of the top four our last seven fixtures apart from Rochdale and Swindon are very favorable, that could be our best moment to make a late push for top two. February and March should be hard though and I expect us to drop back hen, so I hope we don't stray too far from the top three.

Long term gains.
Agree with all that plops, although Mas and Yas coming back will be like two new signings for us.

Of all the teams at the top, for some reason I just think Mk are most likely to pull away, although losing Afobe could've hindered that a tad.

We don't do league wins, however we also don't do promotion via the play offs, so I have a feeling it will be 2nd place or nothing for us.

1) Swindon
2) City
------
3) MK
4) Preston
5) Sheffield Utd
6) Rochdale

Cannot envisage City not going up - whether 1st or 2nd doesn't matter.

We have done fantastically well so far but still not shaken off MK.

I think Preston have shot their bolt for the autos and the other 2 PO places are up for grabs - I'll go for

Bristol City
Swindon

MK
Preston
Chesterfield
Sheff Utd

For what it's worth, that's precisely the order I would go for. Preston via the playoffs, but I don't know why.

Ok...

Though we went 3 months unbeaten and if we win our games in hand will be 2nd...

Yeah, and thats why you're in the promotion race.

Its going to be 2 out of 4 though and I just think ourselves and Swindon are more consistent and less likely to drop points.

I understand that mate and you are entitled to your opinion, I was just questioning the logic.
