Despite our ridiculously poor home performances against Chesterfield, (three times!!) I am still lurching more towards a preference of them over Sheffield United for some reason. May be United's cup form.

To be honest, we have to get 2nd. Can't see us make it past the semi finals of the Play-offs, we never do.

We hadn't won a league game away at Bradford in 107 years. Just thumped them 6-0. We also hadn't won at Bramall Lane in 50+ years before beating them away this season. All records, good and bad, must come to an end at some point!

Generally the team going into the playoffs in the best form do well irrespective of league position, so if Chesterfield keep it up I'd fancy them tbh. They're top of the form table over the last 10 games

This is true, but MK Dons are top of the form table over the last six games.
Both have 16 points but MK have a better goal difference.
Could be a very interesting play off battle this year.
Then again, I still reckon MK will snatch 2nd from PNE

Although hes useless at most other things Clough does seem able to get us up for bigger games. If by some fluke we got to Wembley id fancy our chances. Would be completely undeserved but its gone against us enough times, has to even out eventually, doesn't it?

No idea who id want to face out of Swindon, MK (or PNE).

I'm sure we'd happily take a second leg at your place with three wins there this season.

I wouldn't fancy us to beat you at home, but I'd be all over an away win.

To be honest playing you might well do us a favour, we won't take you for granted based on this season's matches, think it will be just the motivation our players need to be fully focussed.

The issue with Chesterfield playing MK Dons is that you can bet with relative certainty that despite beating them three times at Stadium MK in the play offs MK will beat them!

I thought that in March though!

Having lost twice in the cup, I was certain lightning wouldn't strike for a 3rd time. :emb:

Alright, don't rub it in!! :bg:

The only other glimmer of hope I can think of is our form in March and the players missing. Coupled with an anonymous rookie Lewis Baker (apart fom the worldie) who now a month on, is an absolute world-beater.

100% clutching at straws though!

Our win at MK Dons was definitely a massive 3pts looking at it now, probably my favourite moment of the season actually, the away end was mayhem

I wouldn't count your chickens Chesterfield. I'm sure we beat West Ham 3 times in 2004/2005 season, play off final at Millennium Stadium and Bobby fucking Zamora breaks our hearts in a 1-0 defeat.
I still get angry now, their keeper should have been sent off. Unfortunately he broke his leg in the incident and the referee took pity.
Also played a completely unfit David Nugent over Ageymang.
Also strong rumours our centre midfield partnership where in casualty till 5am night of the game due to Brian O' Neill's little girl taking a tumble down some stairs.

Pretty sure the roof collapsed at the hotel the night before and all the team were up at 5am to move hotels.

I'm not counting any chickens at all. If we make the playoffs Cookie will have worked a miracle, having had 2 of his best players sold out from under him and playing without a striker for about 1/3 of the season. There was a whole month *with* Doyle where we failed to score a league goal, plus our bad run in Feb when Roberts was injured.

I don't seriously expect us to progress and if we do go MK again I expect us to lose. Anything we get is a bonus from here on in. Plan A was to avoid the shocking season we had last time in league one and not get relegated.

We're mostly just joking 'cos we can't believe where we are.

We smashed West Brom twice in 93 and finished on 90+ points 15 ahead of them and lost 3-0 in the final! Play Offs are horrible like that!

Definitely a two-horse race now. I've backed our players all season but sometimes you just have to want it a bit more. Losing against the likes of Crawley and already-relegated Yeovil is unforgivable when you're chasing promotion.

Looking at the table I think I'm right in saying the only way we can't finish in the play-offs is if Rochdale win all three of their games and we fail to get more than a point from our final two. Bristol City and Sheffield United are eminently losable games, but I can't see Rochdale beating Leyton Orient, MK Dons AND Barnsley away though stranger things have happened.

Hopefully Rochdale fail to win on Tuesday and then it's done deal.

I wouldn't worry too much Westbars, we, understandably, took our foot off today and could well be on the beach next week!

I'll be there Westbars. We will have a party and shake hands anyway but 3 nil might be pushing it. We can live with 1 though. Flip flops and surfboards are the order of the day but I've no idea what the fans will come dressed as!
You're sorted for the top 6 now aren't you?

Not quite - Rochdale'd need to win 3 and us lose 2 for us to drop to 7th. Might be done and dusted Tuesday though.

If Rochdale don't beat Leyton Orient midweek then yes, we're in and it's purely down to where we finish and who we play.

We wouldn't really like to lose to Sheffield United either, really.

I think that MK dons will go up automaticly. in fact i really want them to , if we get to play off final, just cant see us beating them, got to admit Robinson has a very good team there. Out of Chesterfield and Sheffield Utd, must admit i would much rather play Sheff Utd in semi's and come what may for whoever is in final.
Next season League one is going to be a bitch, with our nearest games being Coventry and Walsall and after them most games are going to be 2 or 3 hour motorway journeys each way, and ive a feeling we may well be doing them as well!
