Jamie Proctor and Chris Taylor to sign at the weekend after FL agree we can sign players. No disrespect but never heard of them

Chris Taylor was at Blackburn.

He was on loan at Millwall and I know a lot of their fans were very keen to sign him up but I believe he wants to stay in the North.

Think he is one of those hard working, terrier type midfielders who'll graft for 90 mins. Should be a good addition in this league I would have thought.

Mantom signed for Scunthorpe. Solid addition that.

He was useful without ever actually being all that good, if I'm honest. We wanted to sign him but he wanted to stay in the Championship. I guess he didn't get the options he thought he might.

Taylor looked a shadow of the player who turned out for us in the Championship a few years back. Seems to have lost most of his pace and ability to take a man on. Decent technical ability but not enough to compensate for the other flaws.

Decent prospect according to the Dutch press. See how he adapts, good to have a big man up front after last season!

Proctor sounds like the striker version of Taylor then. Typical Parkinson signings.

I liked Proctor whilst he was here though, wish we'd kept hold of him. Always a good option to have.

How brilliantly football manger!!

Um, I take it he's not a goal scoring striker? 1 goal in 22 for Roda in the top league (I presume) before joining Waalwijk in the Dutch second division where he scored 6 in 23 for the struggling side (I think they may have got relegated as they finished 18th)

I wish I supported Vale! These signings are classic.

Lol at Mantom.

Aside from Sawyers, Demetriou and Forde it's been made clear by the player that offers we made were significantly less than what they thought they would be worth after a decent season at the top of the league. Fair enough, I understand that. But they also bottled on numerous occasions in a fairly dire league and Whitney made digs at certain players after the 4-0 defeat to Bradford, the capitulation in the play-offs about having a strong team physically and mentally last year.

Since then it's been eminating from his camp that he needs a change of scenary in terms of expectations? Not being funny and this is no slight on Scunthorpe at all. But why join a club with similar crowds, or smaller, smaller away followings, a smaller stadium who have been more 'up and down' than we have in the last few years in one of the least 'glamerous' parts of the country for the stereotypical footballer? Basically, he's not been offered a deal as good as he thought at Walsall, has been touted around by his agent and moved to Scunthorpe for the safety of a 3 year deal and a few extra quid. Totally acceptable, but why not say that?

I also think the silent approach with regards to not letting fans, who have generally supported him ever since his loan move to the Bescot years back, not informing the club of his decision and the general lack of interest in keeping people in the loop isn't what I expected of him.

In terms of the player Scunthorpe have, it's hard to give a description really. I'd have been devastated at this news 2 seasons back, but since spending the better part of a year on the touchlines he hasn't had the same impact on games as he did before. Got a great strike on him, can get into the area, is very steady in possession and can pick a decent pass. However, he also goes missing in big games, isn't physical enough and can become a passenger when the pressure is on. He was rotten for the last half of last season. A change of club is probably best for both parties at this stage.

Good luck to him, but he could have handled this move much better. As it is now, his reasonable reception has turned into what will be a frosty one.

If he averages that goal return for us it's 12 league goals, with better service potentially and a year older maybe he will improve that ratio (plus some may have been as a sub)

If he is in as a second striker then it might work out well for us, but I know as much as anyone on here about him other than the YouTube video and wiki so will have to see how it works out.

I have read somewhere that today's signing was a free agent so does that mean we have another striker incoming who Smurf has paid for?

The beauty of our first 2 signings is that absolutely no-one seems to know anything about them which could certainly help us in the early stages of the season. I think it is safe to say that we have been crying out for a target man and this guy sounds like just the player - maybe the striker we have paid a fee for is the smaller, quicker type making that perfect combo up top

Proctor is one of those players who looks decent in all departments until you realise he's a striker and he probably won't score more than 10 goals a season.

Looks like we're trying to sign Nathaniel Knight-Percival from Shrewsbury. Don't know much about him, is it contract up or will it involve a fee? If we do get him it would be another gap filled in the side - Wilson is not screwing around
A very good player, classy on the ball but has had a couple of injuries whilst with us. Out of contract but was offered a contract, although on reduced terms if rumours are to be believed. I'll be very sorry to see him go, hope Mellon has a decent replacement lined up!

Southend also had talks with him apparently.

Seems to not realise no compensation if from a foreign club!

Five more of the lads to sign tomorrow, One looks to maybe fall through.

Is that really your chairman? and he puts all this crap on Twitter? Hmmm. Sorry I really don't mean to be judgemental but he doesn't seem like the kind of guy I'd leave anything valuable with.
