I think he activated a clause through appearances last year that triggered another year on his deal. And he's on a ridiculous wage.

What Eric said, no idea about the wage though. It basically went like this:


Wilder: dean I'm releasing you
Hammond: you can't, I've got a clause that I can activate for an extra year which I am doing
Wilder: you're transfer listed straight away as I don't want you (with some choice words I imagine) and I'm sacking the guy that gave you the contract
*new deal comes into effect on 1st July*
*'mutual termination' agreed 2nd July*

Town have signed Bury right back Joe Riley for an undisclosed fee. With no right back on the books it's good to see one brought in, and a decent one at that.

Knight-Percival, despite his slightly suspect fitness, is a big loss. I hope there is a similar calibre player in his position joining the club as neither of the new centre backs signed this summer are in the same class.

have to agree with Matt here, regarding our defence which on paper appears weaker than last season, apart from the right back berth. We need a quality centre back from somewhere and also a left back.

I am happy enough with the rest of the positions for this season, if we could just fill those LB and CB vacancies!
