James Wilson - if he has a leader of a centre back partner to play alongside, he's very good. Certainly good enough for a playoff side. If he is expected to be the leader, he's utter tripe.

Dominic Poleon - hahahahahaha. Fraud of a footballer. Literally a sprinter with football boots.

Thats what we are replacing. Azeez was a sprinter with boots. He will sit on the bench and be used to unsettle defences usual tactics are not working.

Happy and shocked at that, both new centre backs seem to have a lot of pedigree, we already had 2 class centre backs though, and I can't see 4 vying for 2 positions, so I think our captain Wright might be off.

Very happy with our transfer dealings so far

Nelson is a great signing for Oxford, though a lot of our fans are a little underwhelmed for him. I think we all expected Championship or higher. But I suppose this way he will be guaranteed first team action and continue learning his trade. We accepted we'd be losing him some time ago, although him signing for Oxford indicates that had we got promoted he probably would have stayed. No bad feeling from Argyle towards him at all, served the club incredibly well through our toughest ever time. He stood out last time he played in league 1 (admittedly in a poor side going through admin). At 23 and almost 300 apps all competitions had the potential to become a club legend further than the hero he is.

Fully deserves his chance playing at a higher level and with the right coaching his potential ability is certainly at the top. Has all the athletic and mental attributes required. Wish him the best of luck and the utmost respect.

Good review thanks.

We now have 4 senior CB's on the books, with Wright and Dunkley performing solidly last season I wouldn't say his place is guaranteed. Dunkley, in particular, pulled out some fantastic performances towards the end of last season and will be keen to build on them.
Martin, Nelson, Wright and Dunkley will all be pushing each other hard for a place in the team.

Southend have signed that lovely fella Nile Ranger. Just to cap off this interesting decision he has been given a 1 month contract, so instead of being a trialist the club are actually paying him to play pre-season.

That's interesting then, does your formation/style of play incorporate a defensive midfielder? He's played there a couple times and looked comfortable (centre back all last season mind). His style of play is similar to that of Stones with those runs forward and ball playing ability, I've always thought that as his career progressed he'd become more advanced and sit in a role in front of the back 4 dictating play more and breaking up attacks. Certainly has the attributes required to do so.

Very much so, Lundstram plays that position allowing Sercs to get forward so it is good to have versatile players and cover for him there. Confidence to play the ball out of the back will go down well here and now you mention that... will probably see him pip Wright to the first 11.

Fair enough, I'm happy to see him go. And £500K is good business for him.

Person on our forum with a 100% record says the above are happening

Leon still has 2 years on his contract.. I'd hope that if we sold him it was for a fee higher than for what he's probably worth. He's worth more to us than whatever he earns at the moment.

Was always impressed with Lundstram, perhaps clubs are interested in him and Nelse is providing some cover for just in case also. Although I'm fairly certain, upon thinking about it more, that Nelson had a lot of interest in him and he would have wanted a promise of first team football. Especially considering there were reportedly 'bigger' clubs snooping around.

Is anyone ever promised first team football? No way do I think we would do that and we now appear to have four decent centre backs, and would play the players that actually perform the best in the team.
If he is as good as reports seem to suggest, then I think he would have confidence of being one of the better players in his position.
