I know. The shame of it.

Probably his place is threatened by all those divey, cheaty foreign johnnies you've press-ganged.

Well according to our (slightly mental) chairman no approach has been made for Foley nor has he received any transfer request from Grant. Has this all surfaced from an ITK account on Twitter or something as I can't see any actual news stories relating to it?

Treated by our medical staff all summer, verbally agreed to sign and then leaves to you lot. What a dickhead move. I like hall, really good in league one. Not cool for him to string us along.

He'll still be out until about Christmas but when he gets for he'll be a good player.
Is he a winger or a striker? When we had him he played like a proper poacher up front, only ever touched the ball to score, but after that I know he played out wide for most teams, judging by his goal return for you I am assuming he's still a winger?

Yes, in league one and the championship we played him on the wing. Scored some cracking goals for us in league one. Especially at home to orient. You've got a good player.

At least his new club will know the sort of person they have on their hands

We've got a young lad called Jordan Evans training with us. Played on loan for Oxford last season and did well by all accounts.

Statement from Chairman on Grant... appears to quash Foley rumours:

STATEMENT FROM NORMAN SMURTHWAITE

After reading some social media comments last night I eventually received a copy of an email from Anthony Grant, addressed to the club, requesting that he be put on the transfer list.

I was a little disappointed in this approach as, just before the end of last season and as recent as last week, I was having discussions with Anthony regarding extending his contract for one more year beyond this new season.

As I consider him to be a major asset within the squad I would like to put on notice to all interested parties, including his recently appointed agent, that I will not consider any offer other than his true value to the club; if these conditions are not achieved then Anthony will remain a Port Vale player until the end of his contract.

Any contracted footballer cannot be approached directly without the parent club’s permission and I confirm that no approach has been made for any other Port Vale player at the time of this statement.

We will see how ballsy Smurthwaite is when minuscule offers start to come in for Grant then.

It's amazing how Sky Sports seemed to pick up on this before Vale even received the transfer request which would suggest to me that Grant's agent is behind this

He was OK in L2, potential to improve but whether good enough to make the step up now is 50/50 imo. Better going forward than defending. Certainly no lack of effort though.

Cheers mate. If we do offer him something he'll be backup and hopefully one for the future. Sounds like he's got the kind of attitude our manager likes.

Seems to be the case... Must be strong and stand our ground on the best fee.

It was a Port Vale fan on Twitter who said Foley was having a medical at Swindon today.

When I saw he was 29 I thought it was nonsense.

Don't want him anyway, think he's the guy who stuck the penalty away after BOO was so cruely chopped down by the corner flag and the ref played on...

Whoever punched the ball away when Vale swung in the corner should be blamed really. Although BOO was down awaiting treatment but the ref chose to play on, which I guess is his prerogative.

Foley wasn't going to willingly miss the penalty was he! (although he missed one 4 days later!)

Peter Clarke signs for Latics from Bury on a 1yr deal.

We needed that experience at the back, so he could be key in helping out young lad Cameron Burgess.

Ollie Banks to Oldham doing the rounds with Twitter journos.

Please be true. I need some fuel, but I'll stop for some and drive him up there myself!
