Southend have signed Simon Cox on a 2 year deal. Very pleasing.
One of my favourite players. Very classy striker but his career just hasn't progressed.

Don't appreciate the 'Swindown' though.

Chris Birchall on trial with Northampton. Page with an old pals act. Unlucky Cobblers.

I see Northampton have Josh Gillies on trial. Seriously it's a waste of time.

We signed him a couple of years back in league 1. He wasn't good enough and when we went down to league 2 he wasn't good enough either. He ended up back at Gateshead where we got him from. He's got a decent delivery on his right foot, but that's where it ends. He's hopeless positionally, doesn't track back, doesn't have much skill to beat players, isn't particularly quick, doesn't seem to have much football intelligence.

He'll probably be good in a friendly against a non league side, but against decent opposition you'll see that he isn't up to much.

I went to the game yesterday. You could afford to lose that last paragraph, the rest would describe his performance very accurately.

I like Page as a manager but he definitely needs to get out of the old pals act. It's a bad habit particularly with players who are well past their best

We aren't going to play hoofball as much now Parkinson has left. It's probably gonna mean we finish lower in the table and do worse this year, as despite the fact everyone moaned at it it was massively effective and loads of teams couldn't play against it.

You talkin' to me? :)

Bang goes your customary six points from us this season then :)

Is Hanson still with you? If so, you'll still cause us problems. His sort usually do...

Yes he's here. To be fair with the right service and partner he is a handful. He had a poor season last season because he had neither. Will be interesting to see what McCall does with him, he signed him back in the day and he loves him so he will still be the main man, sigh.

Bradford will be getting their customary six points (and +45 goal difference) from Oxford so there's not too much difference to them.

Rumours we are in for a Peterborough player. Don't see it myself, also no idea who it could be as I only know two posh players. Maddison and Taylor, don't actually know anyone else. Any ideas posh fans?

Chris McCann to us as Fleck's replacement

If this is an indication of the quality of player that Mowbray can attract then I'm feeling a lot more optimistic about this transfer window. Do hope this doesn't mean he's going to continue to insist with Vincelot at CB though.

I just hope he bins off this 3-4-3 formation.

We definitely don't have the wing backs for it at the moment, but it did work okay in the last few games of the season when he tried it. As long as there is a solid Plan B for in case it goes to shit I'll be fine with them experimenting with it a bit at the start of the season.

We are Northamptons bogey side as well so two good promoted teams for us this year.

Signed Simeon Jackson on a 2 year deal.

Very happy with that. Struggled recently (otherwise he wouldn't have signed for us) but he is exactly what we need, a experience forward who seems like a 1 touch in the box kind of striker. First 11 is looking tidy now, just need to work on squad players.

Hopefully we don't sign Tyrone Barnett as rumoured!

Good luck with that and I hope it works out, but it has been a long time since Jackson has shown anything worthwhile.

If any club can get something out of him it would be us.

We got bloody Craig Westcarr to score 17 at this level!

Meh, massively average these days Jackson - I hope he's the back up, not the centre forward to replace Bradshaw.

No development/sale on him either given his age.

Seems, another 'risky' signing to be honest. Good pedigree and is a poacher though. Cureton didn't score for years and was awful at Shrewsbury, but has since gone on to score 15-20 for about 5 years, so some clubs work and others don't.

I'd imagine the next signing will be a Premier League youth player.

Bloody hell, he's been given the Number 9 shirt, so he is Tom's replacement.

I imagine we will sign a young forward so it will be a 3 way battle between Jackson, Bakayoko and the one yet to come in.

Let's be realistic and stop thinking we will actually replace Tom instantly with another 20 goal a season striker immediately, that just isn't feasible.

Oh yeah, not expecting that, I'm not stupid. Wouldn't have gone for a 29 year old that hasn't hit the barn door for a long time and will probably command a decent wage on the basis of a good reputation/pedigree.

I'd rather take a risk on a raw 18 year old and someone who is 20-22 that we can improve, help build and then sell on.

Even if Jackson scores 40 next season, he won't be worth £0.
