Would you say it's a bit of a gamble or do you have a decent scouting network?
Seemingly, we've found a few gems in L1 that have been excellent in making the step up, and then last summer of course finding Kodjia for only £2m. It's similar to you - it's a gamble, but you'd rather take that gamble to gain some interest in the hope that it pays off, rather than signing some overaged journeymen and hoping to merely survive every year.

Indeed mate, years and years of similar placed finishes becomes boring. I'll always prefer to see us having a go at different things and failing than taking the comfortable and boring approach

Jordy Hiwula on Season long loan
Whether that is good or not depends on which Jordy you get.

If you get first season Walsall loanee then you've got a fantastic talent in your hands. If you get second spell Jordy you will be kicking the seat in front in frustration, don't know what Huddersfield and Wigan did to him. His confidence, first touch and composure had all gone.

Thought Hiwula looked alright when we beat Walsall at the back end of the season, was pretty much the only player who showed up for them. He offers something different to Hanson and Clarke at least.

Not very good? Or just one that didn't work out for other reasons?
In the 12 months here it just never really fell for him - started slow, too many injuries, when he did score (including some important goals and signs of a decent poacher with a solid first touch), PP never started him the following week. Always looked a bit porky but I don't think we unlocked his potential at all, he'll be a decent option for someone in this league, described by Morias as 'unbelievable' or words to that effect in training

Agreed.

We do have another striker coming in, so, some decent options there potentially.

We aren't going to play hoofball as much now Parkinson has left. It's probably gonna mean we finish lower in the table and do worse this year, as despite the fact everyone moaned at it it was massively effective and loads of teams couldn't play against it.

the striker from champ club is joining us it seems and is flying to Spain with the side Monday for pre training camp. God knows who it is. Tyrone Barnett was given 24 hours to sign for us yesterday imagine he's being offered a pay cut given his reluctance to sign. Please carry on being reluctant

Looking at some of the shite players being talked about on here makes me less pissed off at our lack of incomings.

I see Northampton have Josh Gillies on trial. Seriously it's a waste of time.

We signed him a couple of years back in league 1. He wasn't good enough and when we went down to league 2 he wasn't good enough either. He ended up back at Gateshead where we got him from. He's got a decent delivery on his right foot, but that's where it ends. He's hopeless positionally, doesn't track back, doesn't have much skill to beat players, isn't particularly quick, doesn't seem to have much football intelligence.

He'll probably be good in a friendly against a non league side, but against decent opposition you'll see that he isn't up to much.

Neil Danns (Bolton. Leicester, Palace) Richard Chaplow (PNE, Southampton, Burnley) Mickey Demetriou (Kiddy, Shrewsbury) on trial for #buryfc

I know Chaplow is shit but I'm not sure about the other two?

Demetrio was decent in our promotion season but fell completely out of favour for some reason. Personally I quite liked him, decent going forward and a decent crosser of a ball. Definitely has the odd mistake in him (tbf had only played in conf prior to us so had two steps up in standard) but Mellon treated him poorly in my opinion.

Southend have signed Simon Cox on a 2 year deal. Very pleasing.

Liked Danns here. A lot. Admittedly he's aged since, but a very classy attacking midfielder. Should still be alright for L1 level, not sure what his wages would be like mind.
