I'd be worried if I were you, your chairman wanted to sell up only last season. If the foreigners don't pay off and it's his last attempt at giving it a go, you could be in trouble.

Our chairman loves attention and him saying he wants to sell up and bugger off is always going to get him that attention

Unsubstantiated rumour of Ryan Allsop (GK) from Bournemouth.

Richie Wellens has had his contracted terminated by mutual consent.

We were warned he was well past his best when he was signed in January, but Mellon still gave him an 18 month contract. :err: He was then transfer listed this summer and there has been no reported interest. Just another in an ever growing list of players signed by Mellon whose contracts have been terminated early.

Definitely not the player he once was. He might get a League 2 club but I wouldn't be surprised to see him drop down to the Conference (or whatever it's called these days).

According to Radio Stoke Martin Patterson is close to signing... Proven yes... Past it... Yes! Not quite what I'd hoped for!

Is he even all that proven? Had 1, maybe 2 good seasons and that seems to be it. Doesn't seem to have scored a club goal since 2014 either.

Will he be the answer to our goalscoring problems? Well you never know but I just can't see it and hope it is a bit of lazy journalism from local media outlets

Decentish record at Scunny and Burnley at a better level 5 in 25 for Huddersfield although unsure how many were sub apps to judge.

Seems to have been injured when loaned out and at Orlando so depends how fit he is going to be. We managed to turn AJ Leitch-Smith into a goal scorer from 1 goal in over a year so you never know I suppose but after Leon Best and Varney fell through its a bit of an anti climax.

I'm sorry but there is no way to spin this positively. It's a shit signing if in fact its true. Leaving aside the Stoke connection (though I find it strange that a Stoke fan who has never hidden his hatred of us in the past is now trying to get a contract with us) his record as a player in say the last five years is awful. And that's not even mentioning an injury record that is somehow even worse than Lee Matthews or Michael Walsh before him.

If Paterson signs for Port Vale before tomorrow he's 100% scoring.

I can't see him playing much of a part tomorrow even if he does sign today.
And I definitely can't see him scoring considering his recent record

Some one OVF are suggesting the loan winger will be very well received by Vale fans! Weir from United seems possible?

If we sell Gregory we'll be in the hunt for a striker next week with the best part of 2 million quid to spend. Most of the likely candidates I would have fancied (Agard, Ajose) have been snapped up already, so it'd be interesting to see who we went for.

We've signed Kevin Toner on loan from Villa to January. Really highly rated apparently and started 2 or 3 Premier League matches for them which certainly would have been good experience for him.

He's a left sided centre back but we'll need to use him as a left back as Rico is still out injured it seems.

Is that the same folk who thought we could attract (and afford) Adam Le Fondre to the club?

We've signed goalkeeper Jonathan Bond on loan from Reading til January.

I've heard of him, but know nothing about him.

Get Marquis back.

Jokes aside, in that scenario we should be looking at players like Luton's Jack Marriott or someone like Jordy Hiwula (though obvs not Jordy Hiwula coz he's on loan for the season at Bradford). I.e. young players who have shown promise but haven't settled or found consistency or young players who are slightly off the radar because they aren't consistently productive *yet*. That seems realistic, rather than the polarity of suggestions usually put forward on the messageboards: "We should sign Ross McCormack!", "Don't be silly, the board are fucking tight, we'll end up with Bas Savage."

I'm surprised no-one in this league has taken a punt on John Akinde if I'm honest, he seems to come on a bundle in the last few years.

He played 14 games for Reading in the Championship last year, according to their website.
Don't know where that leaves Nelson as he only signed a new contract in the summer.

It would appear we had him on loan in 2012 (and no I can't remember it either).

I don't know where that's come from, as I'm 100% sure he has never played for us.

Not yet confirmed by the club as a signing but the pre-match preview for tomorrow includes the fact that new signings Sam Hart and MARTIN PATERSON will be included in the first team squad.

About as underwhelming as can be I am afraid

Could be the sort of player that we look to sign I guess. I suspect for the Gregory money we might get 2 or even 3 Akinde type players so can spread our bets a bit.

Bad Wikipedia editing. In the blurb it states he was on loan at Bury when it was alleged he was with us.
