It appears Page has decided there's fuck all he can do with the back four and were going all out to score more than the opposition will

5 mil player at Sunderland, 31 is nowt compared to brown and Hughes, I'll be delighted if we sign him

FORMER Premier League striker Michael Chopra is training with Port Vale as the Valiants consider adding to their firepower.

The 31-year-old goalscorer has been playing in the Indian Super League with Kerala Blasters but also has a proven pedigree in this country having played in the top flight for Newcastle and Sunderland.

However, it is understood he is not the only player under consideration at Vale Park as the club looks to strengthen the squad.

Sunderland paid Cardiff £5m for him in 2007 before the Bluebirds bought him back from the Black Cats for £4m two years later.

He's scored 114 goals in English football and has played most of his career at Championship level.

The striker, who has also represented Watford, Nottingham Forest, Barnsley, Ipswich and Blackpool, would add experience to Vale's front line.

The Valiants currently have Tom Pope, Ben Williamson, Louis Dodds and Achille Campion competing for places up front.

However, Vale are considering adding to their options as they look to finish the season with a challenge for the play-offs.

Vale go into this weekend's game with Swindon just two points adrift of the top six following a run of four wins from the last five games.

Chopra would be a great signing at this level to be fair.

I'd be amazed if Chopra does anything, anywhere at any level.

He's done.

0 goals in 9 in the Indian league and doesn't look like he refused many all you can eat tandooris over there by the looks of it.

Questionable over whether he can still cut it at this level, hence the trial at Vale I guess. Nothing ventured and all that.

We are in talks with a goal scorer who has already terrorised us this season amongst other sides according to the chairman...

Uche? Madine? Can't really think of anyone else who's possibly available.

We've signed Jacob Murphy on loan from Norwich and, very bizarrely, Bongani Khumalo from Spurs (wtf?).

Murphy looked really good today to be fair to him, but we're basically down so it's pointless, we might as well play our own kids now. And Khumalo... I had assumed it was another teenager, but instead it's a 28 year old international captain who Spurs signed for seven figures - huh?

We had Khumalo on loan in the Championship for a brief period, he was good.

We might have stayed up had we had him and Leon Cort partnered all season.

Really seems like the most bizarre and possibly pointless signing though haha. Very random.

He's been there for years, seems a bit of a marketing signing.

Sam Ricketts rumoured to be on the way to Coventry. This would be a good move for both parties. Really hope this reignites Ricketts' career. Personally I am sure there could be space for him at Wolves for a while yet, similar to Jody Craddock's role.

I reckon Ricketts will stabilise Coventry's back four and they will surely stay up.

Yea would be pleased with that, is he more of a full back or a centre back these days?

He's experienced without being Andy Webster win, win!

Kevin Lisbie has left us :(

Sad to see him go, even though he is 36, IMO could still do a job at this level with right management. But he is sadly quite injury prone and missed 4 months of the season with an injury.

The rumour is he has gone to Stevenage.
