Jermaine Pennant signs for Bury until the end of the season.

Funny one. He's obviously a bit washed up now and well past his best bit still a sort of 'marquee' signing for this division. Sort of player, that by signing him gives the place a lift and helps motivate players. Interested to see how this works out.

OK-ish. Not exactly wrist slashing cos he got recalled. But, tbh, it would be difficult to stand out in such a poor team. The lad we've got from Chelsea as his replacement looks an upgrade based on his debut.

I thought he was decent enough, as ID said, we have stunk the place out for most of the season so its difficult to know.

Cheers, this has come from that HITC website so could quite easily be bullshit.

Age on his side if we did bring him in though.

Not really, we have Danny Mayor and Zeli Ismail to come back from injury soon. He's 34 so won't be playing all the time, just got to hope he's not another Healy, Eagles etc.

Personally I don't know why the fuck we've signed him but it sums our club up at the moment. Clueless.

Norwich being linked with our LB James Meredith by the Daily Mail (!), now that they've sold Olsson to Swansea.

His contract is up in the summer and we've been trying to get him to sign an extension.

Would be a big loss for us if he went but couldn't blame him if he did.
His agent said that Championship clubs were after him when his last contract ran out and then he ended up re-signing for us. Fact it's in the Daily Mail makes it less believable too. With his contract running out its all a bit predictable.

He's decent but can't see a club aiming to get in the Premier League going for him.

The last foreign keeper we signed after a trial was sold for over 2 million quid within the year, so why not!

So City have bought a 13 year old off us for a record fee of £175000 rising up to quarter of a mil if he signs pro deal. He must be so fucking decent. I hope we got 20% sell on and he moves to Real Madrid in 7 years for £120 million.

This pretty much sums up everything that is wrong with modern football.

He'll never be seen again unfortunately, what a waste. Kids that age are far better staying and developing at clubs like Southend where if they're that good, have real hopes of making it pro and eventually getting their big move.

Have to blame the parents here, so they're all going to up sticks and move to Manchester?

We sold Danny Rowe to Man United when he was 12, a record fee for a player that age at the time I think.

He's currently ripping it up, unfortunately it's in the Conference North for AFC Fylde.

Course, all paid for by City. New House, New car probably got them new jobs too.

Is that how it's worked out though? Genuine question cos I don't know.
I thought it was to do with the value of the "asset" not the length of time they'd been with the club.
Based on various things.

Length of time at the Club, how many appearances, how important the player is to the 'selling' club, size contract offered to keep him there, size of contract offered by the 'buying' club, the buying club's league, any other offers from clubs, where negotiations were at between the clubs prior to a tribunal.

Dutch defender Calvin Mac-Intosch has left the club by mutual consent...

Made 6 apps and hasn't been seen since a horror show 1st half against Oxford when he was hauled off first half.

Not surprised by this and think a couple more of the foreign lads will go from Bruno's regime, just hoping we keep:

Kiko
Amoros
De Freitas
Knopps
Cicilia

As feel these 5 are up to it and especially Kiko, Amoros and De Freitas look real prospects for the future.

Anthony Gerrard signs for Oldham, two and a half year deal. Looks like he's finally admitted he's not better than League One. Him and Peter Clarke previously played together for Huddersfield I think.

Now to shut the horrendous goalscoring problem...

Sweeney is a very good centre back. I always thought he was not as good as nightingale who we still have but is constantly injured. Very solid header of ball and strong. Perhaps not the best on the ball. I suspect will eventually be a championship centre back as perhaps not quite sharp enough on turn for Prem

Busy week at Fleetwood, former loanee striker Wes Burns in on a permanent deal from Bristol City and current striker Aaron Holloway sold to Oldham. Left back Joe Maguire in on permanent from Liverpool academy possibly to replace Amaari Bell who is being courted by several Championship and a Premiership club. Oh and German midfielder Markus (who?) Schwabl has signed on from VFR Aalen, Rosler using his contacts over there.

One in, one out at Dale.

Jack Redshaw signs on loan to the end of the season from Blackpool. Had a few months with us about six years ago, without breaking into the team, but has subsequently done decently in non league and for Morecambe. Knows where the goal is, and provides a poacher option up front.

Samni Odelusi, meanwhile, has returned to Wigan. Made a few cameo appeaences off the bench, but never really showed enough to warrant a regular place. Hope he gets a move to somewhere he can have a consistent run of games, which he probably needs at this stage of his career.

Joe Bunney has also signed an extended contract, through to summer 2018.

Alex Woodyard was never ever a league footballer when he had too many games for Southend in League 2. He may well have improved but I'd be surprised if he makes it at this level.

Sheff Utd make a bid for Hanson from our journo who's normally pretty reliable.

Not sure, I still quite like him and I think he would be an asset for any club as a target man but maybe it's time to move on?

Seems weird that Sheff Utd would spend what would have to be at least a bit of money on a striker who struggles to get in a low scoring team and has scored 4 goals this season when you would think they could have their pick of many more.

It's been done to death how limited a player he is but I think he'd do well with Sharp along side him, maybe that's Wilder's thoughts.
