Hanson would be 5th/6th(?) choice striker at SU? What's the point?

McCall - Hanson bid "a good one for someone out of contract in five months" but implied the instalments SU want to pay is not, a Championship team enquired also but no bid yet

Bizarre signing. Completely unnecessary as he wouldn't be 1st choice and if we were to go up he definitely isn't good enough for the championship. Why are we signing a striker when we've scored over 50 league goals we clearly don't need one.

Mansfield according to Steve Evans have bid £300,000 for a striker. Some names that have been mentioned are Paul Taylor (but I believe his bid was rejected before the £300,000 was announced) and James Hanson. I don't know if either are worth £300,000 or if either would really be interested in joining. It's all a bit stupid really. We shouldn't be paying a fee of £300,000 for anyone.

We've bid for a championship striker. Not Matt Smith our approach was him was rejected by Fulham, they didn't want to let him go.

Strikeforce is all about options BM. Big Jim would give you another one and certainly would not be 5 or 6 choice. Technically, he is not gifted but he wins headers, is one hell of a nuisance and always takes 2 or 3 markers and if this leaves the likes of BS marker free, my god! Yesterday I watched the land of the giants; aka Millwall and we really could have done with big Jim for their corners, a situation often ignored by blind cretins who are so obsessed with counting crowd numbers that they actually miss what is going on on the pitch but one where he is a real asset. Personally, I hope he stays with us but if he comes to you, I wish him well and by the way, he has caused big problems to defenders above the level of championship, including world cup winners.

According to a few ITK's on Twitter, we've now agreed a fee for Hanson from Sheff Utd.

I honestly never thought id see the day. Good fucking riddance, honestly.

A lot of our lot suggesting it's worth around £100k, which ain't too bad to say he's currently 3rd choice, in awful form and out of contract in a few month.

It'll give The Blades another option, but I can't see him being a success there.

Pointless signing imo. Not what we need at all we don't play that style of football to suit him so not really sure what wilder has in mind for him.

Adam Le Fondre to sign shortly, all because Nicky Law and Felipe Morais have just started to follow him on Twitter.

Fine logic!

Should sign Leon Clarke he'd easily get 10-12 goals till the end of the season.

I never thought the Hanson saga would end but today it finally will. He splits Bradford fans down the middle - on one hand he has scored some unbelievably important goals for us and under PP especially was the focus (hoof) for everything we did. A Bradford lad who hasn't still moved away, Bradford girlfriend (the latest one anyway), worked at the CoOp... Someone fans could relate to, many who knew his or his ex's family, a good bloke. From a football sense he is awkward to play against, opposition manages do single him out and good crosses into the box will bring goals, defensively excellent at set pieces.
On the other hand, the reason for so many critics - the obvious one is how limited he is, little skill, flick on's which he often wins that find no one, the constant fouls his jumps give away, prone to missing a sitter, lack of goals from set pieces (people will mention his goal vs Villa but it's hard to think of many others), long periods without scoring, his generally clumsiness...
Fair to say he's given his all for the club and will go down in folklore, but time for a new challenge, he'll be a Championship player in May which is higher than we'll be and good luck to him, there's not much left for him to achieve here.
As a side, we're looking to bring in German striker Anton Fink, top scorer in Germany's third tier.

Could be us we've bid for someone..

I could only see him leaving on loan to be honest, signed a 3yr deal in the summer and will most likely be on wages just above what most League One teams would pay.

Stevie May looks the more likely to leave on loan this window anyway, unfortunately.

Bloke on our forum who has a great source at the club reckons the Champ striker is attracting interest for 7 other clubs including clubs in the Champ so it's unlikely. Now we are looking at a L1 striker who it out of favour currently. It would be a 'name' as that's what Brown likes. Stinks of Leon Clarke

How about Tyrone Barnett. He is out of favour with us and I believe you also wanted him in the summer? Please make a bid!

We had him on loan last season. He was a last resort target this year then we got players in. Now being where we are in the league I'd be amazed if we were looking at him, very doubtful.

Can see Hanson getting torn apart at Sheff Utd if he doesn't score in his first few games, they won't stand for his constant fouling and heading it on to no one, or just arriving on the edge of the area when the perfect cross comes over the 6 yard box, or heading it straight into the keepers arms from 3 yards out. He had his 'haters' here but he also had plenty of people who kissed his arse constantly, he won't get that at another club.

Good luck to him anyway, he's left an indelible mark on the club but if he wasn't here I think we would have found a striker who would have done a similar if not better job than him.

The amount of posters on claret and banter who are up in arms about it, it's absolutely hilarious.

They just can't see past the local hero tag.

We'll have saved in excess of £100k in wages, and the fee is somewhere between £150k-£200k, apparently.

Bradford City, 1.4m spongers.
On the ALF front, I think he's quality for our league, however, so was McLean. We have a really poor record of turning prolific players into absolute shite.

But we made Barry Conlon a machine.

I have heard a few rumours that we are trying to sign Beckford. Heard anything your end SF?

Not a thing. I'd be shocked if there is any truth in that, came off the bench on Saturday, whereas Doyle and May didn't even make the 18.
