I shall see how he does, but Pep has worked with him before at UE Cornella and he played regularly in the Barca B team that got promotion last season in the Spanish 3rd tier which gives some cause for optimism. Suggests they are expecting Sheff Utd to come back with another bid for Lunny.

As for overall recruitment, we are clearly behind others although signing James Henry is encouraging. Unsure as to Tiendalli as he hasn't played for 2 seasons but has a good pedigree. We need another left back unless young Carroll is going to be used there, another winger and forward/no.10. We may still sign Mike Williamson depending if a suitable deal can be agreed. Apart from MW that is the minimum needed for me.

Can only assume his Barcelona pedigree makes Xemi a cut above the nonsense all the lesser clubs are signing. Could well be looking at the makings of a Premiership midfield here.

I wouldn't get too excited just yet.

When we were promoted to the Championship, we signed Real Madrid B midfielders Cristian Benavente (a Peruvian international) and Sergio Aguza (captain of Real Madrid B).

Both sounded promising, naturally because they had come from such a big club like Real Madrid. However, they were awful. Could not adapt to English football, hardly played a game for us and had they permanent deals mutually terminated 5 months later.

They had a bit of flair, but the step up physically/competitively from playing in the Spanish second division to playing in the 2nd tier of English football was huge and they were a massive failure for us - bullied off the ball, and made to look average at best.

Not excited as I've seen too many supposedly good signings turn out to be utter gubbins and vice-versa. We shall see how he goes but the fact Pep Clotet has worked with him before and Pep has worked in the UK for a good few years provides some comfort that Pep thinks he has it in him to be a success in England.

We've signed Billy Bingham on a 2 year deal. Know nothing about him really, but he has a good name.

Tidy midfield player but really struggled with injuries in his 2 years with us. I would have liked to seen him be a bit more decisive - he always looked decent enough but didn't actually create all that much and only ever scored one for us. I think there's a good player there for a team who want to keep the ball IF he manages to not get injured quite so much.

Gboly Ariyibi signed on loan, very happy with that
Just seen this. He's a decent player with good physical abilities. The type to give left backs nightmares, pace and tricks, with the height to bring down long diagonal balls. He's inconsistent however and too many of his crosses go into the stands. Honestly think he'd be better if he cut inside more and made bee-lines into the box and tried to draw challenges. The raw ability is there though and if your manager to tap it and get him doing the right things, he'll be a good signing

We've signed Funso Ojo on a free transfer.

Yeah I have no idea either.

This was the rumour that I mentioned in an earlier post. He is a Dutch based (Willem II) Belgian. Kevin Van Veen will have had a part to play in this. That's one CM, now we need another with Crooks going to Northampton.

Looks as though we are signing Steven Taylor, good for this level if and it's a big if we can keep him fit.

Always a bit of a gamble when you sign someone who has played at a much higher level. Can they still do it, but boy if that can it can transform the team/season. Seems worthwhile you taking that risk, he could be quite dominant in league one.

Scunny had Alex Calvo-Garcia from Spain playing many moons ago. He thought he was a centre forward, but became a tremendous midfielder. Tough tackling and moved the ball well. It's possible to adapt as Alex proved, but I take the point that in general the transition is hard. Most noticeably, it is the physical side of the English game that is most difficult.

We have just signed Ojo, a defensive midfielder from the Dutch first division. It will be interesting to see how he copes with the physical side of the EFL.

Signed one of our trialists today, Tom Broadbent, who seems an interesting story. Never played league football before at 25 years old, played for Hayes & Yeading most recently. DC said he believed the reason Broadbent hadn't played league football yet was his Army background. In other news, he is an absolute unit.

Williams looked good when he was on the pitch, but again injury was an issue here. Perfect sort of link man between the deeper midfielders and the strikers.

Yeah, he is very clever on the ball between the midfield and the strikers. I prefer to see him more central, but we have tended to play him wide left. Here's hoping he can get and stay fit this season. A fit Williams, with restored confidence can only be good for Scunny.

We've signed Alex Penny from Sunny Nunny so I assume Bostwick is off at some point.

Still no wing-backs.

Raheem Hanley on trial at Oxford tonight? It surely can't be!
We played a RB at LB when Hanley was the only player available.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Haha.

Assuming both happen, what can we expect?
From Joner 100% every game until he over extends and injures himself. If not for this he would be a cracking player.
None of us know whats wrong with Danny, on his day the best wide player seen at Gigg Lane since David Lee. Injurys most of last season (some say depression is not helping, hope not for his sake)
On his day worth the admission just to watch him alone but sadly not been his day for 2 seasons now, hope the lad gets back to his best where ever he ends up (and I also hope thats with us)

It is a triaI, doubt we will see him again. Especially if rumours of a left back from a PL team are true.

Direct from our manager Pep Clotet, John Lundstram is likely to complete his transfer to Sheffield Utd tomorrow. He has a year to go on his contract and turned down a new deal. Rumoured to be a decent chunk above the £500k offered originally.

Also, we are talking to Mike Williamson as well with both sides very interested in doing a deal.

This could end their interest in Leonard....
The highest offer we got for him was 600k and he was the first choice so don't know how much more you be getting than 500k

'Fallen' to a higher league finish than you whilst still selling players on for tidy profits.

Wright, Baldock and Lundstram doing the business for Wilder in the Championship. Looks like he knows who the best team in L2 was :cool1:

No offence like but we are definitely better at negotiating than Southend. We got £1.5m for Callum O'Dowda :fl:

I dont think it's about negotiating mate. Why would anyone pay more for their second choice?

Because your chairman would not let him leave. This does not impact Oxford negotiating a better deal for our player.

Have they done the business for Wilder in the championship? So you had the better players and still couldn't win? Apple2on at his best.

Getting a bit old for saves that are low down.. but he's also commanding, loud and a leader at the back. He started slow for us last season, but ended up being one of our best performers, gained us points through clean sheets, and the fans took to him as a result. Would think he'll continue to be a top keeper for League 2 next year
