We need to shift some players out before any more signings - Gary Roberts, Michael Smith or Curtis Main anyone?.........Anyone??.......
Curtis Main always seemed to look fairly useful against us - but we probably don't need another striker as a priority...

I love this forum. I'm reading you all get excited about players I have never heard of and I'm convincing myself we will be lucky to stay up this season.

Think we'd take Smith if he were prepared to not be first choice. Need an option like him for a plan B.

The majority of signings at this level would be somewhat unheard of in the grand scheme.

Now told Aaron Pierre is done and dusted. Crooks and Pierre isn't a bad week.

Now just a keeper and another striker.

No idea how good he is but we need wing backs, not centre backs. Bostwick and Harry Anderson have joined Lincoln..
Apparently you haven't mentioned Raggett since your bid a few weeks back, so that'll not be happening nor would it be a good move for him either.

We know about Anderson, but talk to me about Bostwick (who seems to have refused to talk to Blackburn because he wanted to stay this side of the country).

Bostwick will give you 110% week in week out but he's lost what little pace he has and turns like a narrowboat. I think we'll miss his die hard attitude on the pitch but we conceded a lot of goals when he played. I would have liked to have him in the squad this year but am not overly disappointed to see him go, his wages were also one of the highest.

MacAnthony said this about it this morning:

"Waking up to kind of reaction you get from family members when you dump a bird who they deem as the 'one' but they don't live with her lol."

There's been big big rumours that we're resigning Ryan Sweeney from Stoke today on a season long loan, possibly even with a view to buy at the end. I tend to take our rumour mill with a pinch of salt but the whisperings have got louder and louder. Would be a massive signing for us, helped turn our defence around from one of the worst to very good around half way through last season, he was substantially better than Jake Clarke-Salter who was in the team that won u19s with England and just got handed a 4/5 year deal with Chelsea. So fingers crossed it's true.

Id be really annoyed with Stoke if this was true. Why take our young centre back who we spent years developing then first loan him to another club in our division but a year later sell him. They should have kept their few hundred thousand and left him with us in the first place.

Why be annoyed?

They offered you money for him which you accepted. Once he's their player, it's up to them. They obviously don't feel he's progressed enough or as they had hoped to ever get into their squad and are sending him out on loan for the season.

Mostly because we didnt really want him to go. But at time and age he was we were left in no position to do any thing except get on with it.

Pierre on his day was good in League 2 but can be a bit moody when things aren't going his way and picks up silly bookings and his distribjution out of defence woeful,on the plus side he scores goals from corners and does possess a decent shot.

Phil Edwards out for the season, probably no medical when he was signed.

See Franchise must be after some Celtic players on loan as they've got our ex Anton Rodgers on trial.

Sucking up to daddy. He is truly awful.

Because that's the problem with the whole EPPPPP stuff. A youngster (or his agent - don't get me started!) who's been brought through by a lower/non-league club has his head turned by an offer from a premiershit club. Said youngster knows the chances of breaking through to prem side 1st team is 0.00001% but he thinks he'll be the one who bucks the trend. For the prem side, it's irrelevant. A few hundred thousand for a 17 year old is small change; if it doesn't work out, they release the player - or sell them if it's Chelski - and they can easily write it off. For me, this isn't just about Sweens but more general. The prem got this EPPPPPP shit agreed in the first place by telling FL clubs they'd withdraw their funding if they didn't agree. FL clubs (mostly) duly bent over, allowing prem clubs to hoover up any U18 who might, just might, come good. Grrrrr.

We've apparently knocked back two bids from two unamed League One clubs for Harry Lennon. No idea who and no idea why.
