Pompey fans talk to me about David Forde?

I agree with Bucket's comments above. He would have probably been picked up permanently by us if Cook had stayed (although maybe as a solid number two?). Excellent signing for League Two.

I wasn't keen on him first half of the season as he seemed to let a high percentage of goal-bound shots in. However, he improved dramatically after Christmas and finished as a stand-out player. Although there are better shot-stoppers around, he commands his area well and is good at organising his defence.

Our local paper saying we are close to signing ex-Oxford striker Chris Maguire. 17 goals in L1 last season.

Replacing Vaughan with Ajose and Maguire + 900k ain't too shabby business in my opinion.

Not confirmed yet though...

Us, Oldham and Blackpool are also being linked with Newcastle youngster Sean Longstaff.

We've made our 10th signing of them summer.

James Bolton (right back/centre back) on a 2 year deal from Gateshead for an undisclosed fee.

Meanwhile, Jim O'Brien has had his contract terminated.

13 goals last season, very talented, works hard, bit selfish, drifts in and out of games and not an out and out goalscorer, amazing set piece taker though, oh and he's slow, I saw some of your fans thinking he was pacey, he definitely isn't

Think it was clear a while ago we weren't keeping him, shame but not the end of the world, definitely a good player at this level though

Should have Jay Dasilva wrapped up on a season-long loan before the weekend. Delighted with that.

We're also working on a move for Jed Steer, goalkeeper from Aston Villa.

Christian Ceballos joins Jorge Texeira at St Truiden!

Maguire is a cracking signing for Bury, liked him when we had him. Always thought he was best played out on the right hand side, got a good eye for goal.

We are being linked with liam Trotter who I believe has trailed badly at Scunthorpe already.

Been told we're close to signing Aaron Pierre on a free...

Same bloke who told me Crooks was done and dusted 3 days before the announcement so I'm relatively hopeful. Would be a great signing.

Giving JED all this money to spend is a bit like giving a one year old really expensive artist equipment.
All he is going to do is stick his fingers in it, probably eat some and generally make a fucking mess!

I'd much rather have Ady Pennock, you're right

We've signed Alex Penny from Sunny Nunny so I assume Bostwick is off at some point.

Still no wing-backs.
Bostwick linked with us tonight, along with Harry Anderson.

Hope it's not a sweetener for a Raggett deal.

Hoping to sign Ripley in the next couple of days.
Looking good for our best season in years if we pull that off surely? Or are we just getting over-excited?

I'll even allow them to a shit comedy video to announce his signing, that's how much I'd like this to happen.

Pre-season often brings excitement and anticipation. Sometimes over-excitement. You signed Craig Davies. That should counterbalance the optimism you are experiencing.

Jay Dasilva confirmed on a season-long loan.

Really pleased with this, was brilliant towards the end of last season for us and just back from captaining England u19s to European glory.

There's been big big rumours that we're resigning Ryan Sweeney from Stoke today on a season long loan, possibly even with a view to buy at the end. I tend to take our rumour mill with a pinch of salt but the whisperings have got louder and louder. Would be a massive signing for us, helped turn our defence around from one of the worst to very good around half way through last season, he was substantially better than Jake Clarke-Salter who was in the team that won u19s with England and just got handed a 4/5 year deal with Chelsea. So fingers crossed it's true.
