I reckon Ellis has got a lot going on outside of being a striker for us. He's got it all. Touch, strength, finishing. We've seen him destroy teams but sadly I honestly don't think he's too arsed with football ( at least not with us) . I hope he moves on and does well. It's too toxic with us ATM though.
If he was to move on I too hope he does well. It may do him the world of good to move away from Bristol and re-establish himself at a new club. He's a nice lad and is a big personality within the dressing room, so he'd certainly be a loss off the field.

The thing is though, I don't know who would take him. He is definitely not League One standard and he was never anything more than a good impact sub/bit-part player in League Two and the Conference. I think he'd have suitors in the league below because of his age and the fact he's been part of a progressive team for three years, so he shouldn't have to drop out the EFL at this point in time, but he'd have to prove himself pretty quickly.

The thing that will put managers off is his absolute lack of football intelligence. He isn't lazy like some supporters say he is, he just has no positional awareness or reading of the game - that's what makes him look lazy.

That was our old trade mark, Hoof from McArdle to Hanson. I hope you've got some pacey players who can read his sexy flick ons.
By sexy flick ons he means when it bounces off Hanson's head towards the touch line you need someone as good as Nahki Wells to sprint after it, take on two men and put it in the top corner. And then you'll have a great strike partnership that's not at all unbalanced.

Hanson apparently turned down Mansfield last week.

Really nice lad and severely mismanaged by Steve Davis but even under Dave Artell he cost us a goal a game and it was the emergence of Perry Ng at CB last season when he was injured that sealed his fate. Very rash in his decision making and I genuinely saw him signing for a Conference side just like a lot of our cast offs. But he'd be a decent backup centre half I suppose if he's been brought in on the cheap.

Can't believe poor players from last year like Bingham, Turton, Nugent and Guthrie are all in League One. Hence why I can see Gillingham, Walsall and Blackpool in trouble this season if that's the calibre of player they're signing. In Blackpool's defence

So presumably as you have shed all your "poor" players you will romping league two with your remaining superstars? Will watch with interest.

Actually, costing only a goal a game will make Nugent decent back up for Max Ehmer who was an ever present in our defence last year where we conceded the most goals in the division. His new trick last Saturday was to play a four yard back pass to a keeper nearly twenty yards away. Poleon probably missed the resultant open goal as he was laughing too much.

You got the wrong end of the stick. I thought a vast majority of our squad have been shite for years. Just how do players integral in a terrible sise who have finished 24th in League One and 17th in League Two get a move back up to League One? In Turton and Guthrie's case, they'd finished 19th and 20th in League One for 2 years before that with us.

Dead wood like these four players weren't good enough for League One, I'd say only 3 or 4 of our current players would be. But true crap like those four getting moves up a league after being embedded in a losing culture under Davis for years is mad.

Hanson to Scunny makes sense, Christ knows why Sheff Utd bought a striker no better than the half dozen or so they already had, especially when they were walking the league so easily.

George Hirst was at NYS last night to watch our game with Man City.
Rumours abound that the Owls are prepared to loan him to us for the season once his contract has been finalised.

Or he might know some of the City lads and was there to watch them.

We'll see... but we would have to send a couple of forwards out on loan first to accommodate him.
Probably Yates and JCH.
Both played lat night, neither pulled any trees up, though JCH was much improved after half time and would have killed the goalkeeper if he had got in the way of his penalty.

Another stellar signing by us, Steve Arnold a keeper formerly of Dover.

We now have four keepers on our books, but haven't found the net in our opening three matches. Priorities.

Jordan Houghton coming back on loan from Chelsea, well happy with that, we fell to pieces after he got injured last season and was one of the big reasons we didn't win the title.

Congratulations.

We lost 5-0 against Boreham Wood last season and Arnold was at fault for all 5.

Isn't it funny how some players just seem to fit at some clubs and fail at others? When he was with us in league 2 he was so poor and anonymous when playing that it was literally assumed the only reason he was starting must've been due to some arrangement in our loan contract with Chelsea that he had to get a certain amount of minutes to contribute to his development, and we weren't blessed with fantastic centre mids either! Ended up feeling a bit sorry for him so I'm glad someone else took a punt and it worked out.

We've signed Luke Coddington from Huddersfield. He might be good, but it doesn't take away from what a shambles Edinburgh has made of the GK situation this summer.

We desperately need a LB and CM before the window closes. We're interested in Dion Donohue, who is apparently a bit shit (Chesterfield can you confirm/deny), but luckily plays both positions! Though how he plays both I'm not sure. Maybe that's why he's a bit shit

Loads longer than that, he signed from us on 31st January so 6 and a half months...... :bg1:

Incidentally he lasted half a month longer than the manager who sold him to Wigan did.
Gutting for your lot, I don't imagine they'll be a sell on fee for you?

Everyone has a bad day now and then

It was so bad that there were accusations of match fixing. It speaks volumes that we'd rather have just one keeper in the squad than offer him another deal. Can't understand what Gillingham would want with him.

Mate, I was just joking when I said everyone has a bad day. I fully expect him to be as shit as you say

As far as I know the sell on fee is only on any profit that Wigan make, so zilch for us unfortunately.
We've proper done you lot over. Apparently the fee is identical to what we paid you for him. 700k plus add ons that take it to 1m. We'll probably have a sell on as well just in case. Proper snidey that, making sure that you don't see a penny of the fee.

Ah well, any money from it would just end up disappearing into the same abyss the original fee went to, lost without trace down the back of Fenty's sofa.

Another signing (14 now I think) Another CM. Matt Grimes from Swansea on loan. I remember he was brilliant in L2 with Exeter. If you said 3 years ago we'd sign him, I wouldn't believe you.
