Would agree with you early in the season as he looked fancy without really affecting games but he's been good foil for Hanson and Stead since we've stopped dicking around playing him in midfield. Pope in talks with Doncaster according to our local rag, we have kindly offered to cut his wages by 50% , although a season blighted by injury and lack of goals I expected him to stay. Good luck if he goes and typical of Vale we turned down 150 k from Barnsley in January now he goes for nowt !!!

Don't see Tom Pope being the sort of striker to fire a team to promotion, solid league 1 striker, that can be prone to injury. A loss but not a massive one for Vale.

I agree Crewelad and it,s not sour grapes if and when he goes. Had one amazing season in League 2 which given his career record was maybe a 'freak' . Followed by 16 and 12 in the next 2 seasons in League one. Never been the same since came back from his operation but just for his effort alone will be sad loss, we actually had our best run of the season when he wasn,t playing and N'Guessian led the line, certainly didn,t struggle to score in his absence. Tootle to Vale also been mentioned now he is one knob I don,t want at Vale.

A few clubs interested in Pope but he's said tonight he hasn't given up on staying. He's meeting clubs to see what's on offer and hoping Vale negotiate to give him a bit more money.

I'd hope he stays as a Vale legend and he is one of our own but on the flip side if he was a striker with no personal ties to Vale the loss wouldn't he as concerning. He's had a few injuries and after his long absence this season looked half the player so remains to he seen if he will get back to how he was.

Is he worth the 4k a week he was apparently on when our budget it only 1.7 million at the moment I'm not sure.

Barker has said he would love to work with Nigel again, but is hoping for a Championship club. That isn't going to happen, so can very much see him heading your way. Extremely sceptical that he is ever going to be up to first team football.

I bet he's talking about Jake Buxton though. I'd like to say he's not for sale, but I'm not so sure.

Was a solid 7 out of 10 player for us after we signed him from your lot a few years back. Almost got player of the season and then left for Crawley, who in his own words 'offered him a contract he couldn't turn down' and after that he has somewhat dwindled in reputation. Not sure where he is at in terms of quality anymore. Definetely a good league 1 left back if he can reach the heights he did a few years back.

I noticed Bury have transfer listed Nicky Adams? Bit surprising? Has it not worked out at Gigg Lane. Always thought he was a bright spark when he played against us for a couple of different sides.

apparently we have made our first signing but no name has been released yet. I'd guess Luke Woodland or Duncan Watmore.

Evidently rumours are linking us to Dutch midfielder Joey Suk of NAC Breda which may have some truth in it as reports are backed up in Holland. Other rumours linking us with players are I think just paper talk. The only other ones that may have some legs are Izale Mcleod from Crawley and Stefen Nijland from PC Zwolle(again Holland).
I'm expecting a long summer of endless rumours to be honest but as practically the whole squad are re-signed for next season apart from the 6 that were released I wouldn't be expecting more than 6 joining for the new campaign.
