Must admit it was a surprise he applied for the job but not that massive a shock after I had seen a feature on football focus on him above 12 months previous. Personally I think Jimmy will go on to be every bit as good a manager as he was a striker.
Back on thread, of the players you are likely to release is there any of them you would recommend ?

It will all depend on what division we're in on who we release imo, most of our first team are out of contract this summer to be fair.

I think David Buchanan would be a good pick up for anyone looking for a left back and I think he will go regardless,
Keith Keane is a good squad player and is as likeable as they come, he will definitely go,
Lee Holmes will go but I think he will drop to League Two based on his recent loan spells,
I'd be surprised if Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is kept on, hard to make a judgement on him but he's done quite well in his limited appearances. A potentially great pick up at this level if he's fit and given a proper run.

Looks likely if Sheffield United are willing to let him go that Florent Cuvelier will be joining Burton Albion. He lives locally about 10 minutes from the ground, he didn't return to the Blades when he got injured last season whilst playing for us but had his injury treated here. He has said he wants to sign and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has said he wants him so I would expect some sort of deal to be brokered.

Matty Dolan - Released.

Looked decent during his loan spell at the back end of the 13/14 season, but has struggled with injuries this campaign - and tbh, lacked any sort of quality in CM.

Christophe Routis - Signed 1 year extension.

Pretty happy with this. A CB who played in a number of positions this season. Very good on the ball, but can be a little naive at times. Done well in his first season in English football, after signing from Servette in the summer.

I expect a few more to be released shortly ala Mark Yeates, Ben Williams, Jason Kennedy and hopefully Aaron McLean.

His missus was French when he was with us. He has the heart of a lion with the ability to match.

Cheers sadler-andy, yes she looks French and her name is Dominique but she hails from Gods own county of Staffordshire !
On a more serious note Jimmy kept him with the squad for the remainder of last season despite him being a Blades player, he only played 9 minutes for us up at Hartlepool, scored the winner and then injured his hamstring ! Barring the Blades putting a spanner in the works I reckon will be a Brewers player as the 2 clubs are already talking I believe.
Nice to get some positive feedback.
Look forward to our 1st ever meetings next season, we wont be just making the numbers up, expecting us to surprise a few people to be honest.

Who knows ! That would be incredible ! JFH doesn't strike me as a man who will settle for 2nd best, I think we will be very competitive, officially staying up will be the aim but I expect us to at least be middle to lower middle. If we get off to a good start then anything is possible and vice versa. He appears to have good connections and used the loan market very effectively last season.
The supporters believe in him as does the chairman so I think we will just take it as it comes.

I miss you Flo, what a player.

Would love him back at Walsall but he is very injury prone, so Burton is also welcome to him, just want to see him succeed!

I heard they're often at the bottom of the table.

I expect him to boss your team for the first two months until a training ground spat sees him missing the rest of the season. But you'll get a second loanee in to avenge him.

I guess we all know he has quality and a dodgy injury record, it would be nice if he could put all that behind him and develop the obvious ability he has.

Solid Championship player in Cuvelier if he ever gets a couple of full seasons under his belt, I suspect he won't. Easy to watch too, very pretty on the eye.

Was buzzing when we signed Cuvelier 18 months ago on loan, he lasted 20 minutes on his debut and was stretchered off with cruciate injury. Would like to think we were on the radar for him as we aren,t a million miles from Burton but seeing as he can pass the ball and looks quality I doubt Page will bother !!

The last time Cuvelier showed any sort of form/consistency was at us...I suspect Smith will be after a central midfielder in the summer, but I don't think he would risk signing someone as his 3rd central midfielder with him being injured constantly. If we did offer him something, I suspect he would be willing to sign for us though.

I think you are right Cuvelier's last consistent injury free spell was with yourselves. I don't think he will be moving to the Bescot though. He spent the last few months of the season with us even though he was injured, he was at the league 1 trophy presentation and the clubs end of season dinner, also as I have previously stated he lives with his girlfriend 10 minutes from the Pirelli and we use the best training and medical facilities available in the country at St George's park. He has stated he wants to sign for Albion and Jimmy wants to sign him. Throw in Albion old boy Nigel Clough being manager at the Blades and that the clubs are already talking and it would seem only a matter of time before an announcement is made.

Apparently BCFC are in the market for a Dutch second division winger, Stanley Elbers, see this article from yesterday's regional paper:

http://www.ed.nl/sport/voetbal/helm...il-stanley-elbers-van-helmond-sport-1.4926457

Translated the article reads as follows:
"Bradford City wants Stanley Elbers of Helmond Sport
HELMOND - The English club that has serious interest for Helmond Sport winger Stanley Elbers is Bradford City. This was confirmed by Elbers (23) on Saturday.
The contract of the quick topscorer at Helmond Sport still runs two seasons. It is said to contain a transfer clause of approx. 300 kEUR. Bradford City is playing in League One, the third division in England.
Kevin van Veen (ex Helmond Sport, ex FC Oss) left to Scunthorpe United, also playing in League One, earlier this season."

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_Elbers

£220k on a Dutch 2nd division winger? - I am sceptical. If it's true, the takeover is almost finialised.

I know McFadzean is a Sheffield United fan but I think you missed your chance on signing him last season. We have no reason to sell, he is liked a lot and has had a very solid season. I imagine he would like to test himself in the championship and we would probably only sell him for a huge amount.

The rumour I've heard is 400K which may put Clough off
