We've signed Conor Grant a midfielder released by Everton. Don't know anything about him except we tried to sign him on loan last summer but it fell through. Means Adams must rate him as we've gone back in on a permanent.

We had him on loan twice, the year we got relegated to League 2, he came in and looked a really good prospect so much so we wanted to sign him permanently but he turned the contract down, thank god he did because as we started to struggle he went missing. We then signed him on loan the season after and he wasn't the same player. If you get the version of him that first joined you have a very good player. His dip in form and attitude with us could just be down to Fergie's wank man management.

Just seen a rumour Freddie Ladapo is going to sign for Plymouth. Amazing that he has got himself another L1 club if true. Donkey

Would be a typical Adams signing. He would only be a cheap back up anyway, although it is a very uninspiring signing if it happens.

Been told it'll be announced later today, dotting the i's crossing the t's. Apparently, anyway. Could just be usual waffle. Throw enough sh*t at the wall, and some will stick, I guess!
Looks like it is waffle. Fair play to the 2020 board for getting this sorted though if it does go through, because I didn’t think we’d be anywhere near favourites to sign him.

They have consistently backed every manager they’ve employed in the 10 years they’ve been custodians of the club. We are lucky to have them.

Sounds like the Jack Marriott transfer saga is hotting up again. Peterborough demanding £6.5m. Obviously a huge windfall for them, but we would stand to gain another £1.2m making the total value of the transfer to nearly £1.7m for a player who cost nothing.

Supposedly our sell on clause is quite a bit higher than 20% of profit so if he went for £6.5m £1.2m would be an underestimate. As ever it depends who you believe on these things but I've seen a few people I would usually consider reliable make the claim that it's more than 20% now so hopefully it's true.

Mad how quickly he has progressed from being behind Ollie Palmer as our fourth choice striker 12 months ago. Always had bags of ability, just had a crisis of form and confidence in his second season here. Class poacher so playing with creative talents like Maddison was always going to be great for him.

I thought Bowyer would stay with you? That not the case, or is it a case of wait until the new owners arrive?

Either way don't worry, you aren't alone in the shambolic stakes. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5817191/Bradfords-search-manager-square-one.html

Bowyer was only caretaker manager. Most fans would be happy to see him take permanent charge and apparently the ‘new owners’ have spoken to him about potentially taking the job on full time. They also have Chris Powell on their shortlist.

Bowyer has already come out and said he can now only stay at the club if it is as manager.

I personally want Bows. He gets the club and him and Jackson are he only ones to get the fans back onside in the last 4 years. Love Powell, but that’s in the past and doubt he’ll leave Southend.

As for Bradford, that’s worrying. At least the Grayson departure makes sense but the fact you are now considering youth coaches/managers etc after established managers have turned down the job is worrying

I’m still a little disappointed we let him go to be honest. You could see the ability but that’s Leeds game in the cup where he missed what we’re basically 2 open goals (may be some hyperbole on my part!) just seemed to destroy his confidence and for whatever reason we couldn’t get him out of it. He looked razor sharp in the games before that. A real shame and you wonder if NJ might wonder how he couldnt get the best of him.

I would say a Marriott playing in the team we have currently, with the creativity and amount of chances we created, would have thrived. I think, as you say, he hit a crisis of form and lost his confidence and we weren't exactly prolific in his final year here, whether that be making chances or finishing them, and that really didn't help him. Despite finishing 4th we weren't that good IMO, we were quite a scrappy team and that's not what Marriott thrives on.

Good luck to him, hopefully he goes for £50m!!

I don't think the diamond suited him as it meant all the space centrally was occupied. Especially as all teams in League 2 tended to sit very deep against us home or away it meant he had no space to run into, and he's not the type to beat players with the ball at feet and create something himself, more of a pure goalscorer. If you look at the goals he scored for Peterborough last season a huge number are from crosses into the box (which we were and still are to an extent awful at supplying) or getting in behind stretched high lines (which no-one played against us as they knew we played everything through the middle and ran out of ideas against packed defences).

Even so I don't think we'd have sold him had we known Vassell would force through a move a few weeks later. Funny to think how different Marriott's career might look had we known we'd lose Vassell and dug our heels in over selling Jack.

I still really rate Elliot Lee though (he'll never score 30 a season like JM but I think he's got 15-20 in him and loads of assists if given a run) so whilst it is disappointing how it went with Marriott, around £2m total and Lee on a freebie isn't bad business I guess. Worked out well for everyone in the end.

We've signed Niall Canavan on a free from Rochdale. Could mean Bradley is off. Any good Rochdale?

Yep, Canavan is left footed which means he is a Bradley replacement, who I believe is on the brink of signing a contract at Luton.

Average. Decent defender but nothing else. Can't pass and can't really run but hes good in the air. I'm surprised he's found another league one club but I should imagine he's only really a backup.

Bradley has confirmed on his Twitter account that he has left us. Does not say where to, but I am guessing he prefers places with a functioning airport.

Can't say I recall seeing him play, but Plymouth fans on Twitter are having a proper meltdown about it which I think is usually a good sign as no-one cares when a player who isn't half-decent leaves.

Be hilarious if he goes and signs for Bolton or someone now.

A more level headed approach is yes he’s a good league 1 centre back, good in the air and a threat from set pieces. However naturally he has his weaknesses else he’d be playing a higher level, he’s slow and sometimes his positioning and concentration slips.

Would I prefer him to be in our side at the level we are currently at? Yes of course! Is he irreplaceable? No! Would we have had to look at strengthening his position if we were to progress? Probably yes.

He’s another one of these players who’s thrived under Adam and came with shocking league 2 reviews when we signed him so who knows how he’ll turn out for whoever he signs for. If it’s Luton I reckon they must have a few quid. Wish him all the best.

On the penultimate sentence... news flash! This isn’t exactly a new thing. We’ve made something like £4m in transfers in the last year or two. With another £1m++ set to come at least.

Now signed Conor Grant, Niall Canavan and Freddie Ladapo. Think the last two will be squad fillers but id expect Grant to be a starter.
