Signed Ryan Williams who was released by Rotherham. Funnily enough he was one of our youth products.

If his end product was decent he would be a top championship player instead of a top league 1 player.

Happy with a top league one player..

Last season we had 4 wingers and Warne tended to rotate them quite a bit.
They all had different attributes but Ryan was probably my personal favourite.

He can carry the ball up the field really well and can get the crowd on their feet.

Sadly his crossing is generally poor, usually over everybody or behind everyone.
He also gets into some really good goal scoring positions but usually blasts over or finishes with a really weak shot.

I am still sorry to see him go through, his injury record has been much better with us compared to his spell at Barnsley and it's not good to sell to a rival.

We've been told by Peterborough that £750k will be enough to land us a pristine Matt Godden. Too much? Not enough? About right? :dk:

Rumour going round that Rotherham want Joe Wildsmith with a fee of £750k touted.

Gutted if true, the better of our two academy graduate keepers for me

Yes hearing the same rumours this end but I'd be staggered if we spent that much on a goalkeeper.

We were also supposed to be after Iverson on loan from Leicester but waiting for him to come back from the U21 competition.

Is he worth £750000?

Be surprised if Owls sell him with Westwood not getting much younger. I thought they would loan him out a couple of seasons and take over after Westwood is finished.

That would be my hope and logic.

Not sure with Wildsmith, made as many mistakes in his time in goal as Dawson did, fumbled a few into his net. Other than that though he was a very good shot stopper, be a good signing for Rotherham, and if I was Wildsmith I'd be pushing to get out and play now.

He's better than Dawson.

Sean Raggett in on loan from Norwich.. seen a few saying he's a top signing, but looking at his stats he's been on loan at Rotherham and barely played recently.. any clue ins Rotherham/Norwich/Lincoln fans?

I liked him, he is very dangerous in the opponents box, a good header, no messing with his clearances.

He did have injury issues though early in his loan and then got another bad one and finished up going back to Norwich for treatment.

So he definitely didn't play as much as we hoped but I'm surprised Warney didn't try and get him back for another season.

Portsmouth definitely look to have made some good signings and I've got no problems with that, it's Jackett I can't abide.

Bad injury early on in his Rotherham spell, I think.

He jumped too high, too quickly (he signed for Norwich the summer we got back into the FL so effectively went from NL to Championship) although he didn't break a sweat in the NL to be fair to him. He came back to us for half a season in L2 as part of the transfer and looked fine again so at that time L1 would have been his level. He should have stayed for the full season in L2 and got more games under his belt but he made two sub appearances for Norwich instead.

We found him to be aerially dominant, got his head on things in both boxes and good with both feet. A proper defender. Just wants to defend and do the dirty work. Not the paciest of players, but not slow either.

We only paid £50k for him, then sold for somewhere between £250k-£350k (release clause) so it was a decent deal for us even though we'd have been able to get more for him if the clause wasn't in there.

Also made us a few bob with his goal at Burnley in the FA Cup so he's well like around these parts!

I'd absolutely love Woods. We flog Pack far too much and he always burns out by the end of March, he started every game this year. We have Morrell who may well be off to Lincoln on loan I was told...
Just been confirmed. Not the only one Lincoln would like from us on loan, could be a nice link there this season.

Great move for him.

What's Morrell like, any good? Sounds like the link with you guys has come through Jamie McCombe who is on our coaching staff. Any idea who else we're after from you guys?

As for Raggett, he's excellent. Confident he'll be one of the better CBs in this division next season.

Any idea who else? Morrell decent enough for L1?

No surprise with the link because Jamie McCombe and Lee Johnson are good mates.

Morrell turned Liverpool down to stay here when he was younger in hope of first team football and made his debut at 16 but he's just never been able to nail a spot down, or even be given the chance.

He played some cup games last year which was the first I properly saw of him and whilst not being standout he didn't look out of sync with the rest of the team.

McCombe link makes sense, not sure who the other players are but back when I posted that it was mentioned that Morrell isn't the only one you're keen on so I'll try and find out.

One out, one in today.

Sadly we have said goodbye to Will Vaulks who has stayed in the Championship with Mr Warnock.
Will has been an absolute legend here in his 3 years since joining from Falkirk. The only decent thing Alan Stubbs did while he was manager.

Absolute 100% player both on and off the pitch.
Great work ethic, amazing long throw, great goals with an even better celebration.
Nationwide Community player of the year last season for his work at Bluebell Wood Charity.
Cardiff have a great signing for 2.1 up front rising to 3.5 m if he continues the progress he has made with us.
Thank you Will, you will be sorely missed.

In comes Julien Lamy a young French kid who is described as rapid and can play out wide or up front. This lad is a bit of a project and signs for a year when he is free on July 1st.

Aaron Jarvis apparently on trial at Portsmouth. Doubt there is much more to it than him being from Basingstoke and Pompey doing him a favour and letting him train with them as he is local.

Hes a good story having been a shelf stacker in Tesco when we signed him but he never really did much. Scored some decent goals in the tinpot trophy, back down to the NL South for him youd imagine.

Our side says Jackett quoted £500k , we paid £400k 12 months ago , he's a goalscorer , & if wasn't for injury ( he gets them every season ) he would of probably got 25-30 , works his arse off , we have including Matty only 3 strikers , hope he stays.

We have Ryan Taffazoli training with us and playing for us in ireland this weekend.

Am surprised by this , no disrespect , I expected a higher / bigger club to have come in for him albeit League 1 is his standard, his last ditch tackling is superb , if in a team where he has the license to bring the ball out he's good , his weak points , poor passer & header of the ball.
Good luck anyway .

Fair play to you.

I rate Tafazolli highly, hoped against hope he'd turn up at ours. Never dreamt he'd turn up at another of the sensible-within-budget-four (ourselves/Accy/Wycombe being the others).

If this is the calibre of your signings you may be looking higher than L1 survival.

Its all a bit odd. He has not been announced officially yet. Could just be getting fit i suppose. The rest of our signings are a loan gk from west ham, a striker from the league of wales and a full back from the met police in the ryman prem

Unsure why you're limiting the within budget sides to four? As far as I know Rovers will have a budget around £2 million, we were reported to be on course to break even and it's not much of an increase on our L2 one.

Jay Harris, Adam Buxton and Zoum Bakayogo have all left the club. Think the first two were offered some sort of deal, but not up to their expectations. Certainly could do a job at L2 level.

Linked with Steffan Payne, pretty underwhelming really. Miller signs up for another 6 months, still seriously short in the striking department. Now Harris has gone, must be in the market for another defensive midfielder. Some decent recruiting in other areas, but more additions required.

We've now dropped our interest in Matt Godden.

Apparently we'll not be bringing in any more players unless others leave. Essentially, they're talking about the Jamal Lowe situation. I still reckon he'll be off. It will take a good offer though as we're obviously quite happy to keep him, and aren't in desperate need for cash.
