Wonder which MK player we'll go for this summer?

McGrandles has been superb, Mr consistent and has been so, so important particularly when the rest of the midfield were injured. Walsh hasn't put a foot wrong when fit which is the main issue. Poole had a slow start but I'm sure after a pre season will be a handy RB.

I think we'll be after Jordon Graham from Gillingham as there were heavy rumours linking him here in the winter. Sean Roughan a young defender is currently on trial or just finished a trial with Soutampton.

We virtually need an entire team plus a manager so I expect we will be linked with any player out of contract

If you need a keeper, you'd be well served with Lee Nicholls. One of the best shot stoppers I've seen at this level. The only other one we've released that might fit is Houghton but he's just had a kid so may want to stay relatively local, Cambridge are interested.

We might be after a new No.1 so possibly Nicholls too. We can become a bit of a feeder club for each other until we establish ourselves as a league one club.

Wouldn't mind us taking a punt on Mullin as a bench option, can't do much worse than Nugent or Moult who we got zero minutes out of this season.
Mullin needs the team to be built around him. He deserves a lot of praise for his goal record this season but he wouldn't have anywhere near the same total if the team wasn't focused a lot on him. Needs a good strike partner to play with as well.

If you got him to be option from the bench then he'll probably revert back to his form when he was at Tranmere.

Yeah, I can't say I know anything about the guy, you just see 30 goals on a free transfer and think he's probably worth a punt. Looking at the clubs linked with him, it's probably safe to say he's not going to get a Championship move.

He’s obviously a good player but he’s not Championship standard.

Haven't you had enough duff lower league signings in recent years?!

Not saying Mullin is a duff player, I've only seen him play a couple of times but I can't recall your recent hit rate being that good when it comes to signing them type of players (Ginnelly, Moult, Stockley etc).

What other markets can we shop in?

Moult isn't duff, decent player but I've never known an injury record like it. Shame.

Ginnelly was a £25k signing and pretty much zero risk.

Stockley was worth a punt at £750k, couldn't quite hack it but we should recoup a decent amount of that.

From our recent starting elevens - Hughes, Storey, Ledson, Whiteman, Barkhuizen & Evans were all signed from Leagues 1 & 2. Browne signed from Ireland. Just the way it goes, some step up, some don't.

rumours that Wigan are in for Omar Beckles who is out of contract with us. On his day he’s outstanding. But he also has frequent days where he is horrendous. Never has an ok game it seems, he either looks like the best defender you will ever see or your wondering how he’s a professional.

Thoughts Imps fans? I see he's missed a fair amount of this season through injury - is he someone that's quite injury prone or just bad luck this year?

Without checking, I'm guessing he's our most successful player ever. He joined us on loan at the beginning of 2016/17 so has won the NL title, L2 title, Checkatrade Trophy and will now take part in the L1 PO's having been involved in the L2 PO's as well. Every time the Club have improved, he's improved with it. Many players have fallen by the wayside and couldn't keep him but he has.

Just clocked over 200 appeances for us. Very high work rate, never lets anyone down, full of energy and chips in with 7 or 8 goals a season. He's a strength and power wide player rather than a tricky one. He doesn't have any of them up his sleeve. I worried for him when MA came in but he improved technically and won him over for a bit but having seen Johnson, Rogers, Scully and Grant playing wide, I'm not sure he's quite what MA wants from a wide player.

This season he started well but caught Covid just before Xmas then missed two or three months to injury. Definitely not injury prone, he's really robust and one of those who could play twice in a day.

There seems to be a little confusion over his contract. It was reported there was an option on his deal but earlier in the week Appleton said something about needing to clarify things.

You forget he's only 24. Even when we first signed him at 19 or so, he looked like a mid-20's guy.

It'll be a shame if he leaves. I'd keep him personally and he's also the last member from 2016/17 so he holds sentimental for the fans as well.

Summed up by this goal he scored from 1:15.

Wow, great write up thanks mate. Probably just agent talk trying to stir up interest, but sounds like a definite improvement on our current wingers.

Our release list. Jfh getting rid of the dead wood to start rebuilding.

Tell your club not to bother looking at the majority of these as they are simply not good enough.

Wasn't Varney a player-coach? Has he been released completely?

With him in our team last season, I have no doubt we'd have been up weeks before we actually were.

He was but not in jfh plans. He will be released completely.
he is getting on a bit now, not sure he would do the same job for you in league 1, that he did in league 2.

Oh I don't want him back now - I think League 2 was his level whilst he was with us. Couldn't believe he went to Burton in the summer.

Sonny Bradley to Ipswich doing the rounds today it seems. Tall left footed centre half who is at the end of his contract here.

Would be a good get for Ipswich I think, definitely a championship quality player who has had interest from Preston. I’d quite like to keep him but the more talk you hear the less likely that seems to be, even though it’s still early

We're being linked with a loan move for Alfie McCalmont from Leeds. Spent last season on loan at Oldham, so have asked on the League 2 forum if he's any good.

Good player a bit like the David Batty type player.....Wins the ball and plays it simple
Good signing if you get him

Conor Mcalaney is the one that stood out last season at Oldham.......He would be a good signing for any of the promoted clubs

Following the link to Alfie McCalmont, we're also being linked with a return to the club for Ryan Broom from Peterborough.

He's been transfer-listed there and they still owe us £100k of the £150k transfer fee. The talk is that the remaining instalments would just be cancelled. Broom's wages may be an issue though as I can't imagine he went to Posh on the same money that he was on at Cheltenham beforehand.

Our 17-year old LB, who started the season as first choice, appears to be spending time on trial at Southampton and is playing in their U18 fixtures.

Signed a three-year pro-contract last summer so we'll avoid the dreaded EPPP if they want to take him.
Now Chelsea have him on trial.

Doesn't look like our End-of-contract negotiating is not going too well. Our player of the season, MacGillivray is definitely leaving. Doesn't look like we tried too hard to keep him. Excellent shot-stopper, but maybe the Cowleys are looking more at distribution, as that isn't his strongest suit. They'll either bring a direct replacement in or elevate the highly-rated Alex Bass to No. 1?

Also looks like talks with our captain Tom Naylor have broken down and he will be leaving. Excellent ball winner in midfield but can't pass for toffee. Will be a good signing for someone looking for an out-and-out CDM.

I get the impression both players wanted to stay but the contracts offered weren't as expected, so there is definitely a clear out going on. It's fair to say that fans are not happy with the MacGillivray situation. From my perspective I'm not too fussed about keeping any player in this squad. They've failed at the crucial moment too many times.

Reports linking us with Andy Cannon, which doesn't surprise me if he's from around this way wanting a move back up north. What type of midfielder is he & is any decent?
