I can’t imagine his demands would still be that in league 1. He’s surely at the stage of his career where he just wants to enjoy himself. Wouldn’t fancy facing him next season that’s for sure

Defoe could still get the best part of £20k a week in the Championship as a super sub.

Fuck all to a club like Stoke or Bournemouth.

Depends on his fitness levels too. Zlatan and others still going strong at 40. If he looks after himself he may be able to start. In league 1 starting most weeks he’d still get 20-30 goals minimum surely.

Until we sign a full overhaul of wingers and midfielders, Harry Kane wouldn't hit 30 for us as he'd never see the fucking ball.

20-30 goals minimum? haha

What would the maximum be?
Ok maybe 20-30minimum might have been a slight exaggeration but don’t you think a finisher like Defoe playing most weeks in league 1 would get a lot of goals? Plenty of strikers have got 20 plus who aren’t a patch on Defoe.

He couldn’t score that many in the Scots Premier so zero chance in League 1

Well he got 25 goals in 24 starts by the looks of it in the spl over last 3 seasons. A goal every 56 minutes.... last season 4 in 3 starts and still much better than 1 every 90mins. Looks like he either can’t stay fit or wasn’t getting picked but that’s still some record even in Scotland.

We've been linked with a couple of Northampton players - Ryan Watson (midfielder, born in Crewe, has always looked decent when I've seen Cobblers) and Lloyd Jones (defender, I know nothing about him).

Defoe is behind Morelos, Roofe, Kent, Hagi and Itten for a place up front at Rangers. And with Scott Wright coming in from Aberdeen as a forward option for the future, Defoe was clearly at Rangers for his vital experience this season and his days will be numbered.

If he wants to play on, I'm sure he'd take a drop in wages to play regularly at Championship/upper League One level. He's a guy that loves football. But he's certainly not finished yet!

We were after Lloyd Jones around 3 years ago but we missed out on signing him to Luton I think.

Both seem rated by Northampton. Look like decent potential signings, but it’s far from a concrete rumour

We are losing our No1 keeper Nicholls to Huddersfield. No fee as he is out of contract in June.

Not really linked with anyone. Half of the squad have either been released or will be turning down new contract offers due to us chopping the wage budget. I hate the summer!!!

It’s a no for Payne, apparently. Still sniffing around a Twine - along with everyone else.

Lloyd Jones is originally from Plymouth, and we had him on loan from Luton the season we got relegated. Reasonable size for a CB, very active, but I think there is a reason why he was loaned out a bit. I am pretty sure he came down on trial with us pre-season. Personally I like him because he puts all in, but I think he is more like a good League 2 CB.

Two signings for Salop so far:-
Luke Leahy (Bristol Rovers)
Mathew Pennington (Everton)

Pete O’Rourke has tweeted that we’re ready to offer a deal to Chuks Aneke from Charlton. Charlton are keen to keep him so it’ll be a signal of intent from Cotterill!

Unconfirmed rumour amongst our supposed ITK posters is that you're wanting £150-200K for Twine now. Thought from clubs is that they could get him cheaper than that in a month under the compensation scheme, so no one willing to meet the club valuation and pay a transfer fee.

Absolutely no idea. What goes on the off the pitch is a closed book for everyone. Power probably sees him as a last pay day to fill up his arse pocket.

Still getting linked with Paul Mullin, Alan Nixon reckons we are “ trying hard”. Bit of a gamble but I doubt we’ve got the budget to go all out on a good L1 striker.

Few rumours about Luke Jephcott leaving as well, wouldn’t mind that, if we get a decentish fee for him, he couldn’t hit barn door after January.

Even if we get say like £500k or more for Jephcott that would be good.
What happened with him? Seemed to score every week for about 3 months…Surely he’s worth keeping as he’s only young?

He is a good player but he's gone off the boil.
Would be good if we keep him this summer but I think he'll be sold.

Midfielder Olly Lee signs for us, no big surprise as he’s been on loan here 3 times before being released by Hearts. Decent enough.

I reckon that could be us based on what's been said recently.

A 'prospect from L1' and another 'experienced striker'.
