Lloyd Jones is originally from Plymouth, and we had him on loan from Luton the season we got relegated. Reasonable size for a CB, very active, but I think there is a reason why he was loaned out a bit. I am pretty sure he came down on trial with us pre-season. Personally I like him because he puts all in, but I think he is more like a good League 2 CB.
Wouldn't disagree with this - he has the physicality, but I think he struggles with concentration.

Our out of contract centre half Dan Scarr heavily linked with a move to Plymouth. We offered him a new deal but a lot of our fans, myself included, wanted him released. Can win headers but that's it, has a mistake or three in him, can't pass further than 5 yards, turns like a tank. James Clarke, his centre half partner that we actually released was better than him, and so was our 36 year old player-coach Mat Sadler. Bizarre one from Plymouth if it is true.

Completely agree with your last sentence, and it has been much debated on Pasoti. Lowe plays a back three who have to be able to pass the ball out to get things moving via the wing backs. Scarr does not sound like he fits that bill, unless he has very carefully hidden his Rio Ferdinand skills under a bushel.

Only way I can see it making sense is if you conceded a lot of goals from aerial duels and have looked at ‘centre halves available this summer’ and saw Dan Scarr and his very high aerial win percentage. Thing he was up there with the most headers and duels won. So if you played him in the middle of a back 3 and just tried to ignore giving him the ball, then maybe. But still a weird one. Very much a lower half league 2 defender, knows Joe Edwards (what a guy) though.

Unless Ryan Lowe sees something in Dan Scarr and thinks he'd do a job playing for Argyle in League 1 rather than staying at Walsall.

If the rumours of him coming to us though is true.

Wes Burns confirmed on a 3 year deal for an undisclosed fee from Fleetwood. Opting to join us despite interest from Coventry. A good start...

Josh Sheehan set to have a medical with us apparently, on his way from Newport.

Could be a cracking addition that.

Wow I’m impressed with that. He was on my list of those well worth chasing in league 2. We have a lot of Welsh players so he’ll fit right in.

We've offered massive pay cuts to our out of contract players. Ben Close looks like he's off to Doncaster, Jack Whatmough to Wigan, Tom Naylor possibly Mansfield and Ryan Williams to Oxford. Can't afford parity with Wigan, Doncaster and Oxford at the moment. Sad times

I haven't paid a lot of attention but isn't Walt Disney fella still involved with you lot? What's happened to the money?

Don't be fooled by what Cowley is saying/doing. He was very good here at offering token contracts or lower contracts to players he wasn't fussed about keeping but it'd be viewed as them rejecting contracts rather than him getting rid.

If they were wanted, he'd make sure they stayed. The only time he lost players here were because of release clauses that were in contracts from our final non-league season.

Tom Naylor, for example, isn't a Cowley player. Too slow and not mobile enough from what little I saw of him.

Bobbin' , you guys still confident of signing Stockley?

I reckon he'll cost about £500k purely because I think there are a lot of interested parties in this league.

Was going to post something very similar - Cowley often made low-ball contract offers to players he didn't actually want to keep. For example after our Conference-winning season, he said every player who played a role would be offered a deal, which seemed very generous at the time. In fact quite a few (Alan Power, Terry Hawkridge, Jack Muldoon, Adam Marriott) went elsewhere because he wasn't offering enough money or was only offering a year/limited paying time.

No, I'm never confident

Our owner has said recently that there are a couple of loans from last season they were looking into seeing if they could make permanent and Stockley himself said he loved his time here and hoped it wouldn't be the last time wearing the shirt.

I'd also heard through the grapevine that he was looking at houses locally, could be bollocks.

In short, I'm confident we want him and I'm confident he'd like to join but as always, will come down to whether we meet the asking price and can offer him what he wants financially.

Considering the job he did for us in the second half of the season, if he could do that for a whole season then I think £500k would be well worth it.

Amazed that clubs in lge 1 are willing to pay 500k for a Average/Decent player like Stockley

Could understand it if it was for a 23/24 year old player who was ripping the league up
Think i would pay it for someone like Jephcott

Given service he could probably bag 20 goals in this league and at 27 he probably does have some re-sale value if he has a top season. £500k seems good value to me but obviously I don't know club finances in this league.

I'd expect Jephcott to go for over a million personally, only 21.

Stockley scored exactly half the amount of goals as Jephcott in half the games and 27 isn't exactly old.

Like SF just said, if he can get 15-20 goals and get you promoted then £500k is well worth it and if you're not promoted he'll still likely get another move to The Championship where you would likely at least recoup that money.

Stockley is decent, but the are others who you can get at the end of there contracts for nowt
If he gets you promotion it will be money well spent

We’ve signed George Johnston from Feyenoord. Was on loan at Wigan second half of last season. Don’t know anything about him. 3 year deal so they must rate him

Wigan fans aren’t happy by the looks of it. They can’t believe we’ve nabbed him. A lot of them saying he’s quality.

You've got a quality player with Wes Burns and gutted, but not surprisd he's moved on. Now lost Ched Evans/Paddy Madden and Burns, going backwards at the moment so have to see what Larry Grayson comes up with. Still wish Burns best, he'll make a massive difference for you lads
