Max Clark very good player although the clown Derry only played him left back a few times. Preferred to play him CM.

Apparently we're in talks with Jayden Stockley. Definitely in need of a strong striker who scores goals so would be great to get this over the line.

We had him on loan for a couple of months five years ago and he did pretty well for us.
Would be a good move for him and he’s based in Poole so geographically decent too.

Been told that James Brophy has agreed to join Cambridge from us.

interesting to see where Bonner plays him and if he can make him more consistent.

Would appear it's between yourselves and us, media suggesting you're his preferred destination.

From what I understand he is quick, get's into good areas but lacks end product? Is he an out and out winger? We lacked pace in our team last year so no surprise to see us signing pace.

I see no other player has created more chances from inside the box in league two last season than Brophy. Second in the most successful dribbles too.

I heard he was going to sign for Blackpool until they got promoted.

We were interested in Vigouroux as well.

I don't remeber him being injured an awful lot to be honest. He was in and out the side so never really got going for us.

Ben Close has agreed terms apparently and is having his medical today. Quick start by Wellens, a welcome change to Moore’s dithering.
Confirmed on a 3 year deal

If you sign him, expect him to fall to pieces and get sent off against us as he did this regularly when playing for Swindon. He got sent off against us in both Lg fixtures in the 2016/17 season.

Thanks for the info but that’s some years ago now and looks a top keeper. Great distribution, shot stopping and commanding of his box. He will be in league one this season I’m sure of it.

He had a good rep then as well. I'm sure Oxford fans* will welcome him back as his record hasn't been forgotten. :gr:

He just got caught up in the emotion in our games and lost his rag which affected his game in the wrong way, in terms of discipline and performance. He may have learnt to control his temper since tbf and no doubt developed his game as well.

I think it is 3 reds against us, 2 in league games and 1 in a cup match but could be wrong. One was unlucky though as it should have been the Swindon defender sent off rather than him and it was rescinded.

*Assuming crowds are allowed in then.

I think that's mainly because he wouldn't have to relocate if he came to us. Currently lives in Poole, apparently.

He may change his mind when he sees the relative money on offer, if rumours are to be believed.

We've signed Chris Long on a 2 year deal. I don't know much about him but he has played a lot at this level and isn't exactly a prolific goalscorer so hopefully he'll add something else.

An option for when we switch to play 2 upfront. I'd expect us mainly to play 4-3-3 with Madron through the middle.

Josh Sheehan is confirmed. Happy with that on a free. Surprised it’s only a 2 year deal as I would have thought he would have had some good offers. But gives us flexibility if it doesn’t work out.

Good addition, he deserves a step up especially with a couple of international appearances behind him.

I think Brophy will be a good fit for you, yep he is very rapid and will always beat his man - The end result isn't always the correct one though, which if he fine tunes he could probably play higher. IMO for a player as good as he is technically he doesn't get enough goals.

IMO he is better going forward than at left back, as he is capable of beating his man and worrying defenders, also at left back for me he makes too many silly errors where he will try and beat one too many opponents, rather than clearing his lines or making the easy pass - but if need be he can do a job there.

Vigs I think can/will play at a bigger club in League One IMO - Like a Portsmouth or Ipswich.

Yeah. Very happy with the business so far especially if we can finalise Declan John or Max Clark this week too.

Two Marquee signings a keeper and another Forward along with one of the two left backs mentioned will do for me

I think we’ll only sign a backup or a young keeper. I think he wants Gilks talking the defence through games again this season. We’ve still got the full loan quota to fill so I don’t know how many more permanent signings we will end up with.

CB Lloyd Jones has left us as we could not agree a new deal. Suggestions are that he will sign for Cambridge which would make sense as he is based around MK I think and his agent has said he will be staying in L1.

Looked solid for us last year in a team that was awful, think its a good addition for Cambridge, was hoping we could keep him on.

Gutted as he's a proper Portsmouth lad. Grew up a couple of streets away from Fratton Park. Not sure he ever did quiet enough to push himself into a nailed on starting spot. Wasn't dynamic or strong enough for a jackett side, isn't a great tackler. However, passing stats are crazy, you'll be hard pushed to count the number of times he'll give the ball away. Extremely technical player and with a bit of freedom can create. Will pop up with a few long range goals. Got the nickname Pompey Pirlo. There will be games you'll wonder if he's even playing, and he'll revert to safe 5/10 yard passes but that's what you get in league one. Ive know his family since Ben was a kid and Ben is a really nice bloke who you will never hear anything bad said about him or hear his attitude is anything but spot on. Get him playing consistently and hes got the technical ability to play higher up.

Alan Nixon has now confirmed we've won the race for him. It looks like there was interest from Crewe and Salford. We couldn't replace Harry Darling in Jan so it's good to get this one done early. Cobblers fans don't seem too happy. What type of CB is he?

Wellens reckons he’s a Brian Stock type player, if he’s 85% that good I’ll be chuffed, he’s after getting us playing like we did under O’Driscoll but with a bit more tempo

Some are a bit miffed with him as we had him on loan the season we won the playoffs but he didnt want to play in them in case he got injured as his deal was ending at his parent club. He then didnt get a deal anywhere and he started training with us around November before signing up in Jan for 6 months.

He is better than just a L2 clogger of a CB. He is mobile and has decent pace but also a good size, always willing to put his head in and block shots. Generally a left sided CB, I feel like he needs to stay somewhere a few seasons. Think if he did so he would improve further.
