L1 is just mental this summer. Are Wigan seriously going to have a bigger budget than us in a lower division

Bristol Rovers told to pay £150k for Hanlan over his move there last summer.

Danny Lloyd signs too, formerly of Peterborough and Salford. Was at Tranmere last season.
Don't spend it all at once. Oh wait.........

Sam Smith has signed on a permanent. Had a loan with us a few seasons ago and was excellent until he got injured. He will thrive playing with a target man. Cheltenham fans won’t be too pleased.

They wont mind as he is Too good at goodbyes

Reliable and credible sources reporting that we've signed Max Watters on loan from Cardiff. That'll probably be announced as our Friday 'Don Deal' tomorrow. An interesting prospect who had a hot streak at Crawley before Cardiff snaffled him up on a 3.5 year deal for a rumoured £1M. Nothing suggests that he's ready to be the main striker, but he must have something about him to attract a fair amount of interest over the last two windows.

Wigan just sold a player to Leeds, might just might explain the Wyke signing and wages.

If £10k a week for Wyke is true, he's done pretty well for himself. He gets goals but seems very one-dimensional whenever I've seen him play.

If so, he will be earning more than anyone in our squad which finished top half in the championship last season. Learning lessons?

Watters season long loan now confirmed.
It will be interesting to see how Max gets on.

Doncaster released him and he turned up in pre season at Maidstone (national south). They were umming and ahhing about giving him a contract when they played Crawley in a pre season friendly. He scored, Yems saw something in him and signed him and he just seemed to score every time he played. Tap ins, screamers, headers...all types. He didn't have a pre season so we had to manage his game time (you'll see lots of 30-45 minutes game time) but he was almost unplayable.

The player Crawley had could fire you to the title. The player Donny and Maidstone were not convinced by...?

Mansfield v Crawley highlights. Crawley's 1st and 3rd goals by Watters. Gives an idea.

Zak Elbouzedi sounds like he's off to AIK in Sweden, which will be a decent move for him.

Can't imagine we'll get much of a fee for him as we want to get rid.

Evatt seemed to rate him. Was rapid but for me he had no end product

Andy Butler has had his contact mutually terminated and signed for Boston. Not unexpected as Wellens stated he wasn’t first choice and would not get much game time. Andy still wants to play full time so best for both parties and it frees up a salary to get someone else in.

Played pretty well against us every time we faced him, for whichever club he was with. Even at 37+, would have been a decent short term signing for Dale, or most other L2 teams. Good luck to him.

Totally agree still has plenty to offer. Boston train at the Keepmoat and another ex Rover Paul Green plays for them so might have been a big influence plus Andy is still the manager of the Belles and they train at the Moat too.

Linked with Shodipo on loan from QPR.

Sounds like he had a good loan with Oxford last year.

If you sign him, he'll score every Tuesday for you! Something like every goal aside from two last season were Tuesday nights!

I liked Shodipo. He's a really good age and for a first full season in League One his stats read particularly well. In reality he could do with a permanent gig in League One rather than a loan. For his age, arguably he should have played much more than he has.

He tailed off towards the end of the season with us, which might have had something to do with fatigue and the signings of Elliot Lee and Brandon Barker both likely reduced his game time and he later became a rotation option rather than a starter.

He's not really a direct winger like a Brandon Barker type. Play him on the left and he'll cut in and get shots off which he does really well. He's athletic without being a speed merchant.

I agree with most of that. Like any winger, he'd drift in and out of games but when he was anonymous, you could forget he was on the pitch. He needs to learn to get involved more even when it isn't going well for him, even if just doing a more defensive role. This has a chance to happen with more game time though.

He had a good scoring record without doubt for us but I think that somewhat obscured that for a winger he had a poor return on creating goals for others. He cut in too much without offering the alternative of going on the outside which he had the ability to do as he did it very occasionally. Once Brandon Barker got going it was noticeable how much more often BB would go both ways which made it harder for opposition full backs to know which way to go.

Wingers outside of the elite will find themselves anonymous, particularly at this level much of the time. I think that's a criticism that can be leveled at 99% of wingers across the Championship, League One and Two.

I actually think his ability to fire at goal is a real positive. He wasn't really a creator which is a flaw, agreed. That being said, for a wide player his contribution was sufficient - A return of 10 goals is more than satisfactory. If he got say, 5 assists and 10 goals, he'd likely not be seeking another loan move in League One.

Getting the ball down and carrying it forward against a full back given space he will do, but I disagree he is the sort of player that would do that regularly. I don't think he will ever be a direct option like a Brandon Barker who will drive forward and beat just about anyone with ease.

Shodipo now confirmed. Happy with that.

Alan Nixon reckons we’re trying to sort a deal out for George Byers at Swansea.

I know he's had big injury problems but what the fuck is Alex Pritchard doing in L1?

Him & McGeady could be ridiculous if they stay fit.

Apparently we want to sign striker Conner McBride and keeper Aynsley Pears on loan from Blackburn

Signed ex Blades wing back Kieron Freeman. Plenty of championship experience. Not sure what happened to him in the last year.

I see Ipswich have splashed the cash again to sign Joe Piggott from AFC Wimbledon despite Championship "interest".

Indeed, 3 year deal.

Furthermore, Ashton expects something to develop in the next few days with Crooks.
