I sent similar to a mate yesterday. I wonder whether the offers from League 1 and Championship clubs were there but not groundbreaking and wouldn’t have guaranteed him first team football or even guaranteed the team being organised to play to his strengths. It also sounds like his agent didn’t do a great job either and Mullin binned him off in frustration when the move to League 1 didn’t come.
The offers would have been performance based.....The top and bottom of it there is simply no money in lge 1 in the N/W bar Wigan who signed Wyke.
We have been offered him in the past and now our signings are very much data based. Salford would have been his ideal club but they must not simply fancy him. I doubt Accrington.Fleetwood or Crewe could offer him better terms than Cambridge did.

Any Morecambe fans on here? The Trialist goalie who kept a clean sheet for us yesterday (pulling off two or three good saves, and generally looking competent) has been tentatively identified as Jake Turner, who played for the Shrimps on loan from Newcastle last season. Is he actually any good?

There were lots of clubs interested in Mullin and he must have been convinced that someone in LG1 or the Championship would sign him when he turned down our offer, which was widely expected to be one of our most lucrative contract offers ever.

Bonner said it was never Mullin's plan to drop down the divisions but nothing materialised and Wrexham offered him a sensational contract.

Did Cambridge retract their offer to Mullin in the end? I’d have thought if it come down to the option of staying with Cambridge still on a fairly decent wedge in League One, he’d have done that.

We put in a deadline about 3 weeks ago, and either he, his agent, or both, basically told us to do one after that and it was announced pretty quickly he'd be leaving. Consensus at that point was there were still plenty of big clubs interested, I was told it got real close with Charlton, but none of them obviously worked out which led to him sacking his agent, doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out what happened there and why he's subsequently ended up at Wrexham, IMO.

was with us until he was 18 ....Think he gained a England youth cap
Another who we let go because off the purse strings
Highly rated a few years back

Was very good for us on loan in NLN a couple of seasons back. For a young lad, wasn't intimidated at all, and thought he would go on to prove himself at, at least, Div 2 level.

Got binned off by Derek in January, he had a bad run of games and never really recovered.

I liked him at first, he was good at the basics, catching, commanding his area etc, but then there was a slow realisation that he actually never got near anything unless the shots were straight at him, hence why Letheren came in.

Franchise fans, we've signed Ben Gladwin. How was he for you last season? Still able to cut it in league 2 do you think?

When fit he can cut it in league 1 for sure and I’d have happily kept him. He’s absolutely shot to bits with his injuries but he was definitely quality. We were open to resigning him if he could prove himself after his operation but I guess you moved quicker and could offer him more play time as he would have been a squad option at best here.

Cheers. If he can get anywhere near the quality he had when we had him before he should be very good in league 2.

Rangers have accepted a £1m bid from us for George Edmunson.

Coulson deal has been delayed, though still expected to eventually go through once Boro confirm LB options.

Finally, talks with Barnsley over signing Conor Chaplin are said to be at an advanced change.

Teddy Bishop spotted on a picture from training ground apparently.

Yup, Cook & TWTD have essentially confirmed this as completed.

I can't see him being anything other than a flop. He's simply never fit.

I know he hasn’t played much in the years he has been at yours since a youngster but wasn’t last season the most he has played? Think it was over 35 games?

Yeah, we only saw glimpses of that quality, but there’s no doubt he’s still got it. Was well-liked around the place and by fans. As Dippy says, we we’re waiting on him proving his fitness, but once it was apparent he was training with you then it was pretty likely you were front-runners, Also, if Russ was going to take the risk on anyone’s fitness in terms of new signings, I’m sure it’ll be his perennial fave, Louis Thompson. If we don't go for him (just been released by Norwich) surely you’d be back in for another fans favourite?

Plymouth fans, is Jerome Opoku any good? Rumour up here is we’re after him on loan. Looks a big lad.

Very raw and needs a lot of work. Possibly joined us at the wrong time. Nothing wrong with his attitude and one I would have sent out on loan . Hopefully does well for you.
