Oxford fans - Dale have signed Liam Kelly from Feyenoord on a 2 year deal - on loan at yours previously - is he any good??

James Jones sold to Wrexham.

As said, down the pecking order and allows us to re-invest in other area(s) ahead of next weeks deadline. Doubt he'll be the last one out the door.

Makes sense. Never really got a full look in after a promising start. Seemed to fall out of favour and well covered in that area. No surprise at all!

I see Wrexham bid 60k for Ben Tozer and then doubled it to 120k when that was rejected. I think they might need offer a few more quid for Cheltenham to sell him.

Unfortunately for Cheltenham though it's most likely only going to go one way.

Rumours that we're looking at Bristol City's CB Taylor Moore. Wigan and Hearts are also interested apparently. Definitely need another CB before the window closes.

Great start scoring a free kick against Newcastle but spent his 1st spell on loan getting fit as they gave him a pre-season programme for a chunk of it. In his 2nd loan spell he showed flashes of technical skill, battling and good passing but it was only small flashes for us. After Christmas, he started to disappear from 1st team duties and by the end wasn't even making matchday squads, regardless of injury problems. I think there is a player there as his spell at Reading showed but he never did it for us.

Oh and he is small, iirc the Feyenoord fans called something like "the Gnome".

Good luck to him as he never lacked effort on the pitch when picked.

He's only going if they offer stupid money.

Ball firmly in Wrexham's court.

I'd imagine upwards of £200k. For a 31 year old in the last year of their deal, when we only got £150k for Ryan Broom, I'd consider almost anything above £100k as silly money.

We’ve received a 300k bid from Blackpool for Josh Vela which we’ve rejected and we’ve made a 150k bid for Aaron Morley of Rochdale which has been rejected.

How’s he been for you last few seasons? First few years for us he looked a fantastic prospect and we turned down a million pound bid from Liverpool for him. Then when we had our problems he seemed to go off the rails.

I’ve always been in a bit of a minority amongst our fanbase regarding Vela. Always been a bit overrated for me. That’s not me saying he’s a bad player, just not as good as some of our fans make him out to be.

Admittedly when Steve Cotterill first came in last season when we were rooting at the bottom and ended up going on a 3 month run of promotion form, him and Norburn especially were the main reason. Since Norburn’s been frozen out and left for Posh, Vela just hasn’t been the same so far this season.

I’m shocked that a Championship team have offered 300k for him and even more shocked that we’ve rejected it!! I’d have bitten Blackpool’s hands off. Hopefully they come back in with another 100/200 thousand and he buggers off. He’s not worth that in a million years!

Vela must be their second choice cos we've turned down their £500K bid for Dale and demanded £1 million to let him go. Blackpool can't go any higher than £500K so it seems they've turned their attentions elsewhere.

Not sure doubling an original bid is going to be a particularly astute transfer model, especially when offering those players involved a three year deal towards the ends of their careers. Despite being very very well off these gentlemen don’t have bottomless pockets.

I can see the Wrexham Reynolds being more of a Crawley than a Lincoln or Luton.

If the Lashers want to cut out the middle man and bid 300k for Morley, we'd probably accept...

I could be wrong but are they not different players? Vela centre midfield who can fill in at right back while Dale is an winger?

Dale can play in the Number 10 position almost naturally and occasionally up top as well. We just put him out wide because we have a glut of 10s and next to sod all width but he's capable in both the wide and attacking midfield positions.

Why on Earth would a side playing in the Championship bid money for Josh Vela? Always woeful whenever we played Bolton.

Hope they don't get Dale though, could turn out decent.

Owen Dale is not a number 10. Not sure he has ever played there for Crewe? He's certainly played as a 2nd striker, but never as a number 10 by my reckoning. He's a direct, strong and pacy runner, with a good strike on him. He's not a chance creater, and this tallies up with the fact he only has 3 league assists in around 80 appearances. He is a winger, or a 2nd striker next to a big man.

Any Ipswich fans on here? We (King's Lynn) look like we are taking Brett McGavin on loan. Sounds just what we are looking for - defensive midfielder who can control the game, or is this just paper talk?

We're apparently being linked with a loan for Kyle Joseph from Swansea.

Scored 5 in 12 for Wigan last season (although a hat-trick in one game). Thoughts SMH?

I can’t locate my original comments, however he was on trial with Swindon during pre-season.

In summary, is career has nosedived terribly since leaving Reading. Only a few years ago he was playing in a Championship playoff final. Present day he offers nothing. He would be described by Reading fans as a technician; he was so non-descript and anonymous for 18 months, KR was incredibly patient with him before eventually throwing in the towel.

I wouldn’t like to make any baseless assumption, however I would readily assume something has triggered his decline because evidently he’s an excellent footballer having had spells most recently at Reading and Feyenoord.

He just was so far away from being an effective force for us over a duration of time you would have expected him to come good eventually.
