Hello Masi, did you enjoy the game Saturday? I seemed to have missed your take on the game over the weekend.
well done to you.....A win is a win but 6 weeks ago you finished above us in the league yet we came to your place had 74% possession and 14 shots only 1 on target there lies our problem
Lots of time for Bonner after the way he conducted himself at our place last season.
Had you down to be relegated after losing Mullin think you will be ok. Nothing special in this league yes the are some quality but also some mediocre.
We wont rip up no trees this season but we wont be near the bottom
Next season is our season once we offload the dross who are picking up wages with no chance of playing

Think the player we're hoping to sign at the end of the week might be Madger Gomes - formerly of Doncaster. Don't know much about him.

We had him on trial for a few weeks and don’t think he impressed too much. I think I read he was also on trial at Portsmouth too and they didn’t fancy him much either.

Confirmed Shaun MacDonald has retired. Our second summer signing to do so.

Just the curious case of Chris Long to go.

Isn’t the case with Chris Long that he was unwell and then picked up a knock? Don’t think I can handle another one deserting us.

Yeah, probably. I’ve just got trust issues when it comes to Crewe players now.

Chris Long has been injury prone during his career and I genuinely believe he's had a triple whammy of misfortune with COVID, norovirus and now an injury. Think a couple of fans saw a photo of him with family on social media on the day of a game, put 2 and 2 together and got 2 million. You can sympathise given the retirements of Hoban and Shaun, but I think it's unfair to think Long isn't committed to the club without hard evidence.

As for Shaun, very injury prone player, be interested to know if it was that that led to his retirement. We'll find out later in the month I imagine though.

Malon Romeo to Pompey confirmed, loaned from Millwall. Decent Championship experience. Fingers crossed he’s decent!

Needed a striker, so that’s a worry.
Marlon came through our youth system.
West Ham apparently offered a seven figure fee for him just a couple of seasons ago.
Very quick and still young.
Would love to have seen him back here.

There's a thread on our vitals message board showing all the comings and goings, massive player churn.

Not sure how Romeo ended up at this level, caused us loads of problems when we've played Millwall.

I'd have had him here if we had room.

Last seasons churn compared to this season. Seems like more transfers this year

Lot of pre-pandemic contracts came to an end last season and it would appear a sizable minority of the league are cutting budgets further after lost revenue.

Throw in the big rebuilds from sides like Ipswich, Sunderland and Wigan as well and then sides like ourselves who have lost a fair amount of first teamers to clubs higher up the food chain and you can see why more transfers have occurred. Doesn't surprise me Bolton have got the most settled squad given they had their big rebuild last year and will still have most the squad on for another year minimum.

Seems to me like rats fleeing a sinking ship unfortunately.

74% do you know who made the most passes out of your whole team? Your two CB's passing side to side and punting it into the stands.

As you can see by ours, we've lost the top half of our starting XI really. Not a surprise we're looking a little disjointed at the minute.

Weve signed a Spanish player who has to isolate at the moment. Most seem to think it might be ex Doncaster player Madger Gomes.

Had a few outstanding performances in between looking like he’s never seen a football in his life

I always quite liked him, think he had potential and better than a lot of the dross in our first team now (Gomes never really was).

To be fair, those comments sound reasonably promising as far as lower league free signings go.

They would be stupid to get rid of him. Cracking manager at this level.

American Pension account managers..............New manager before international break is over

They wont give him the time he needs

Stated publicly from the start he will get 2 seasons minimum - unless it's an absolute car crash.

Top 10+ wouldn't please the fans but would be enough to give him another season. No doubt about it.

I've just read that Burton have 38 players in their squad. Can that possibly be right? Is everybody pre-JFH on a long term contract?

It really will. All 4 public top figures involved have said they want promotion this season but if it takes 2 seasons then so be it.

It’s true. I expect some to be offloaded to non league clubs, but he has bolstered with who he wants before getting rid of those that he does not.
Our wage bill must be pretty big..

How on earth are Burton affording all these players. Burton have always struck me as a very well run club, even when they got promoted they didn't over spend, but since JFH has come in they've gone crazy. Even with all these signings, its going to be a tall task for promotion. I can only see it ending badly, the wage bill must be up there with some of the bigger clubs in this league, and attendances are barely 3000.

I know they've said we've got 33 players in that article. But I'm sure it's 28 (29 when Madger inevitably signs). And of those: 4 are on loan, Sam Booth isn't on a contract he's just a U23 squad filler, 4 of the lads are first year pros so will be on a pittance and I imagine the two keepers, Travis, Adebisi, BSD, Griffiths, Lundstram and possibly even Offord will be on wages far below the league average. So, from our point of view, it's more than sustainable for us given how our club is run. We've always needed a bigger squad in the EPPP era due to U23 commitments anyway.

Burton does surprise me though. Said they were cost cutting when Nigel Clough left, failed with Jake Buxton and now Hasselbaink (who I believe doesn't take a wage only expenses according to an article last year?) has brought in players of a far higher calibre than what were there this time last year. Awful lot of players rotting away there this season.
