TBF the fee is reported at £5m plus add ons to a possible £10m and thatwas in August 2020, times were by no means as hard as they are now.
Brentford are in the Premier League and Toney has scored a truckful for them. I think it’s safe to say that Peterborough have banked the full £10m by now.

Well only the clubs involved will know for sure but he's only been there 16 months so I'm willing to bet it's not all been paid yet.

I'm pretty sure Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was 8 figures, though that was late summer after they got promoted so you could argue he was a championship player I suppose.
Yeah, 12m upfront for a player with only League One experience. Lookman went for close to 11m and Delph in 2009 went for 8.5m.

What a player goes for isnt necessarily what they are truly worth it is what a club is willing to sell for, no League One player is worth anywhere near 5m+ without Championship experience already but for us with Lang we are debt free and still have some money in the bank from money collected from previous sales, he has a 4 year contract and we dont need to sell, considering it is 5m+ extra revenue from promotion from League One, it would need to be a crazy fee to consider it, it would need to cover the 5m risk factor on missing out promotion on top of the valuation.

Considering WBA have parachute payments and a billionaire owner and took a then 23 year old centre half who was probably the best centre half in the league the last 6 months of the season, when he helped us to about 9 clean sheets in 10 games for just 900k, when other centre halfs at the same age and similar ability were going for 10m+ then I would demand a huge fee for Lang if they were serious.

Exeter had a big sell on with Watkins

Wigan got screwed over by a number of teams just over 12 months ago. No need to sell Lang and like you say he has a 4 year contract. Would even add a couple of million on to any asking price to certain clubs

Appleton confirmed we have a loan player coming in on 2nd Jan, all paperwork completed. No mention of name though. Also hopeful/ wanting at least a couple more which they are working on.

I always find it amusing the amount fans slap on some of their players, especially if a player pushes for a move and their value decreases massively.

We only got about £6m-£7m for Callum Robinson (pre-Covid) and Lang, or the Bolton guy are nowhere near his level. Full international and scoring regularly in the Championship at the time.

Of course, the clubs can hold firm but if the player gets pissed off then they'll cash in eventually.

McCann, Whiteman & Ledson were all massively overvalued by the fans of their old clubs and we signed them for a fraction of the fees quoted.

Toney went for big money but he's obviously a special case, he was already a Prem-standard player.

I agree that us supporters go a little overboard on valuations.
I have only seen lang once and obviously watch the highlights goals etc but i will tell you Dapo is far from the finished article having only played 40 odd league games. Dapo is very Grealish like and his valuation will only grow. Wigan and Bolton have no need to sell having tied both down on long term deals and it would take silly money to get either of them.
Not a clue what you paid for McCann Whiteman or Ledson but if you say offered 2m to Wigan or Bolton you would be laughed at and get neither

I think for the crazy money mentioned in this thread they would have to be teenagers, or on course for 30+ goals a season.

They're 23 & 24 though, I reckon £2-3m + add-ons/ a sell on would get either of them in the current climate but who knows, it depends what someone is willing to offer.

Hard to imagine many, if any big money moves being made in January though.

Ledson went for less than his possible worth as our Chairman at the time was on his way out and was cashing in as many assets as he could, for whatever he could get. Lundstram also came into this bracket. Another year and they'd have both fetched far more.

Having said that, I agree with your main point, and nobody is going to be paying £10m fees for League One players in the current climate.

I think part of it is more what they'd sell for than what they'd realistically expect to get. There are points in a season where a player is worth more to a Club because of how their season is panning out than what a another are willing to pay.

Yeah, definitely, typically clubs don't sell strikers in January and i'd be very shocked if any Championship clubs are throwing around £3m or so right now, unless they make a massive sale themselves. Brereton leaving Blackburn maybe, but again who knows how much of that will be used to pay off debt.

Still though, if a player kicks off and downs tools then a club will most likely sell. Accy wanted over £1m for Dion Charles in the summer, they'll be lucky to get £250k now.

Looks like we may be trying to repeat last seasons January transfer window
Looks like Charles is wrapped up and in for Hartigan Wimbledon,Sadlier Rotherham and a attacking midfielder unnamed on loan as well as extending Amaechi loan from Hamburg who is now fully fit

Sadlier hasn't played much lately but he is contracted until 2022.

Warne has said we have no plans to sell anyone in January but if its a good offer I would let him go.

He is a decent player and beats players with good trickery but has very little pace and never quite gets away from them.

Apparently we are signing 22 year old midfield Alfie Lewis from St Pat’s in Ireland. He used to be at the Irons under 23s, but he never played at the London Stadium. Suspect he is one for the future rather than an immediate starter.

I wonder if Adam Randall will end up on loan somewhere since Lewis can play Defensive midfield, Attacking midfield as well as Centre midfield.

I hope not, apart from almost hitting me on a roundabout a few years ago, I really rate him. When Jordan gets his inevitable two game ban I want Adam to take over.

Seems like St Pats in Ireland are making a cheeky bid for Eoin Doyle

He had talked about wanting to finish his career back in Ireland & one of his best mates happens to be St Patrick's manager so if they can offer him a wage he's happy with then we won't step in his way. He came to get us up & delivered last season so he'll go with the best wishes of most fans. Fantastic work rate & we'll certainly miss his leadership on the pitch. Good luck to him if it happens

I remember when Sarc left there were rumours going around that Doyle wanted out. Do you think this has been festering since, and this is the upshot? And as a result of two unhappy people leaving that the team is now settled, or is there still unhappiness?

Doyle is/was on good wages....Evatt is Brutal he is going with Dion Charles and may have told Doyle he would be second fiddle from now on
Sarc and Doyle were great mates when they were here so there may be something in it.
We are too soft centred and need a couple of hard Bastards.....Everyone and anyone can see that

Reports tonight Doyle has agreed a 3 year deal to join St Pats in Dublin
I'd imagine there is some sort of pay-off involved with that one.
