Not being pissy, but where’s the benefit of going from a side going for promotion and playing in front of decent crowds to a middling club in a league higher. It took a while for him to fit into our style and his stock can only fall if he struggles at a new club. Anyway, it’d be a bit daft of Ipswich to loan him out to a same league rival.

It's almost like Ipswich don't care if Swindon get promoted or not? Weird.

I don’t think it’s that at all. They are trying to turn the screw on the player who could leave for nothing in a few months. Nobody thinks he’s going to get into their starting XI, he’s not ready for the Championship. Maybe someone has made a bid for him, but it’s deep into the window to recall him that’s for sure.

All 4 of our pre season loans have now left. Luckily Critchlow, who has gone to Plymouth, has been replaced by O’Brien from Palace and looks a substantial upgrade. Hopefully the same will happen with Simpson’s replacement. Although I doubt we’ll be able to find a player with his sheer physical strength and work rate.

For a big fella he is utterly hopeless in the air.

Their motives are irrelevant. He's an Ipswich player so they can do what they want, and what they see as being in their own best interests.

We've all been there. We'd probably be enjoying our third season in the Championship if Millwall hadn't recalled Ben Thompson back in Jan 2019. It's the loan market innit?

Pissing off a player hardly does you any favours, though.

Others expecting much movement in the final week of the transfer window?

We'll be announcing Ben House soon I imagine and that'll probably be it for us with some outs (loans). Doesn't sound like we're expecting any first teamers to be sold either.

We're due up to 6 players back from injury by mid-February so we'll have a strong looking squad all of a sudden.

Edited to add, If we are after Jack Tucker, does that mean Darlig is off to South Wales?

We need some serious incoming personnel if we are to continue a push for the playoffs. This window has hit us hard with loan recalls and forced sales. It's difficult to see whats best but loans while the cheapest way to get good players have shown us how much we are reliant on the good will of the parent club. If Chelsea recalled Cumming we would have a GK who has played the total of 1 league game. as No.1

Saying all that, I really don't want any shit or bust purchases. This season the division is way too strong and I don't think really we have any chance this year.
I got shown the S*n article that this got mentioned in, basically it is if we lose Darling despite us already needing a centre back anyway.

We won't go overboard in throwing it all at promotion, but if recent history is any indication we'll be bringing in some very good players. Remember we almost rebuilt our squad last January and then went from relegation maybes to within touching distance of the play offs before the last couple of games.

We want 4 or 5 apparently, one loanee and then the rest on permanents. I can't remember if that quote included Wickham though so maybe that's already one.

The same happened to us last season. We sold Darling to MK Dons and then Bristol City recalled Robbie Cundy and sent him to Gillingham. That left us with one fit CB and I honestly thought at the time it would cost us promotion. Cundy didn't want to go and he was back at our place to celebrate with all the team on promotion day.

It's frustrating but that's football. Like others have said, Ipswich will have their own agenda and don't give two hoots whether Swindon go up or not, just like Bristol City did with us.

Ironside having a scan on his ankle this week after rolling it against Donny. I expect a striker to come in (Max Biamou and Tyreece Simpson) have been mentioned but no idea if true.

I would also expect another wide player too.

I'd be surprised if we brought in a wide player - Lankester has finally got himself into the reckoning, Knibbs and Smith are proving to be adequate wide forwards and Tracey must be only a couple of weeks from a return?

I'd say cover/a partner for Diggers is more pressing.

Lankester is a good option but I think other than Brophy and Tracey we lack a good wide player with pace. Knibbs is quick but isn't a winger but Smith has proven to be excellent. I'd like to see a winger from the bench who can change the game.

I would be amazed to see a central player come in given we have May, Worman, O'Neil and Weir who can all play there.

No sign of anyone coming in for us ATM but it sounds like Tilt has been sold to Wigan finally, so maybe that will alter Warney's mindset.

If anyone can be bothered to take Ladapo, we will need cover but otherwise it's a boring window for us!

Lot's of fans are having a mini-meltdown already because other top sides are bolstering their squads, but that's just natural I suppose.

Warne and his backroom staff seem to be more than happy with what we've already got, so you just have to trust their judgement, but there are lots who will be on Warne's case if he turns out to be wrong.
That's just football fans in general.

We've got Donervon Daniels off the wage bill, which is probably a good thing. Would be nice if we actually signed someone soon.

TBH I'd have been happy to keep the squad we had on the 31st December. We haven't bolstered, we've at best stood still.

Sounds like we may have agreed a fee for Sunderland's Denver Hume. Around £175k plus add-ons. Just a medical required. Despite the reservations about his defending, hopefully he may give us a spark down the left hand side, attacking wise. Boy, do we need an attacking spark!

Wait that £300k Palmer deal is also a three and a half year contract when he’s already 30? I bet Vadine Oliver has been up all night crying

Unusual for one Club to go undisclosed yet the other disclose the fee anyway, I suspect that's AFCW's way of appeasing their supporters on why they've sold their top scorer in their position.

Absolutely barmy fee, though. Even at £100k you'd be like, WHAT?!

broke our record that has stood for 44 years to sign him too (albeit its all relative)

there may be more to come too....

general consensus though is most people are happy with it. combined with Tozers long throw we will get a few extra goals and it will free Mullin up from trying to do everything himself

Has Tozer's throw worked for Wrexham?

It was telling last season that it only really worked when Will Boyle was on the end of it (Man City game aside of course).

think we have scored 5 or 6 as a result of them, so not bad. I think it took a while for the other players to figure out what to do in the situation. Tozers first game was televised and BT made such a big thing of the corners, close up camera views of him for every single throw!

It sounds bitter, but him going was actually a Godsend for us. We'd become so reliant on the throw that we were cutting out a lot of the basic build-up play.

It's a great tool to have, but it's easy to overplay it and negate other important aspects.

My cousin played up front for Gloucester City in your Trophy game a few weeks back and he said he learnt more from Tozer in that 90 mins than anything else in the previous 10-11 years he'd been playing as a youth.

As David says, we've signed Ben House from Eastleigh.

More attacking options, but I don't think we'll see much of him this season. We've got rid of one punt on Longdon and replaced him with another, hopefully with a little more success.

Longdon was playing in the northern premier league?? House is national league, not such a big jump.
