Hope I'm wrong but can't see us getting the Dempsey one over the line at this rate. Pretty sure Wrexham got bored of waiting on thier bid for Gills striker Olivier & just got Palmer instead. In Dempsey's perspective he'll most likely get some very lucrative contracts thrown his way if no fee has to be paid in the summer for him & is probably not going to force a move through this window for that reason. We won't bid any more than what we value him at when he's only got 6 months left, we'll have a few alternatives in the background just in case even if it's just a short term loan. Evatt is so big on him because he'll bring leadership & experience which we'll not get in younger loanees that's why he won't throw in the towel & call it a day on him.
I don’t really know what we’re playing at with that one (not that I understand much of how our club is run at the moment), we’ve had a couple of decent bids for Dempsey and Oliver (yours for Dempsey seems very fair and he’s out of contract soon). I’d accept, clear the covid loan which has forced our transfer embargo, then get on with it this transfer window finding a replacement.

Instead we haven’t got a manager or any cash and we’re running out of time to do anything to try to desperately save our season this window. Having said that I think we’re as good as down as it is, in which case, I’d still take the cash.

Imps youngsters Sam Long and Sean Roughan join Drogheda on loan in the League of Ireland, not sure how long for as their season starts next month. Long made his league debut last weekend at Plymouth and looks set to be our number 1 goalkeeper in 18 months time.
Seems a decent move for them both in terms of being able to effectively get a full season in (albeit a shorter season than over here - February to June) before coming back to us for pre-season. Gets them games, especially Roughan after his injury.

We sent Grant Horton over there last week on loan to Bohemians. He scored in a friendly against Dundalk the other day, a well taken strike from about 20 yards out.

I think our offer will stay on the table until deadline day… and we’ll get a late loan if necessary if it doesn’t happen. But i’m not convinced we’ll get him in the summer if we don’t get him now. I think there will be other clubs offering better money than us when he’s available for free. We are still a few seasons away from competing with the likes of Sunderland, Wigan, Ipswich etc financially.

We were heavily linked to Dempsey in the summer.

Stunned we’re not in for him again now at the price being mentioned, still exactly what we need.

To the absolute devastation of Crewe fans everywhere, Callum McFadzean appears to be signing for us.
He is... not good.

In other news, we're finally signing some players. Two or three expected in the next day or two. I believe that one of them is Dan Agyei from Oxford.

There have been a few reports saying he wants to move back north to be closer to family so that could be why? He’s a very good player for this level.

Signed Mipo Odubeko on loan from West Ham so that’s the striker sorted just a winger to come in now unless Bogle and Williams leave before the window shuts.

Agyei needs to play games to get his career going as he just isn't consistent for us and can't push his way into the team. A nice, quiet bloke but maybe a bit too nice and quiet to not be ruthless enough. I hope he signs and can take his chance for you as he has spells when he is excellent for 30 mins but then disappears or you forget he is even on the pitch. For his size, don't expect him to bully opposition defenders but when on it he will outrun them a lot.

Winger Joel Cooper also gone on loan to Port Vale from us so that would be 2 squad places freed up along with Thorniley's tantrumtastic loan recall by Blackpool means we'd have 3 places available. If we need another I suspect Alex Gorrin would be taken off this season's list with his injury.

Lee Brown is having a medical at Wimbledon. Good servant. Never drops below 6/10. Out of contract end of season. Hume obviously ahead of him in the pecking order now. Great in the dressing room.

Prolific striker Bassala Sambou has signed for us and we've managed to get rid of McFadzean. Should be a few more in by the weekend, hopefully another forward/winger and a full back/midfielder.

Really solid and consistent as a proper left back in a back four. Limited going forwards but fine if you just want to lock up the left side. Sorry to see him go but we seem to be all in on the wing back system now.

Dan Agyei has the physical presence to play at the very top. The problem is he doesn't utilise his obvious physical capabilities to his advantage. To say it's frustrating would be an understatement as he is without doubt talented (at times). His football IQ is virtually null unless he constantly has someone in his ear in which case he is unplayable and can completely destroy a defense.

He will not score tap ins either so don't expect a goalscorer as his record shows. That being said every goal he scored for OUFC is up there with goal of the season; his goals are simply brilliant and timely in relation to importance. It's a real shame it hasn't worked; he has real ability but something is missing.

As has been mentioned he has been described as not your typical footballer in that he's quite insular and reserved. A really nice guy apparently, however if he were more aggressive he'd better utilise his obvious talent far more effectively.

Would definely take Yan Dhanda on loan from Swans if the link is true but looks like the entire league are all in for him too :dk:

Tom Pearce has signed a new deal, so any interest we had in Iredale has probably been nipped in the bud. We've achieved everything we needed to in the window so far replacing Wyke and Cousins, but Wigan love a deadline day splurge so I wouldn't be surprised if we bring one or two more in before the window shuts.

Irish press reporting that Rotherham United are to sign 25 year old striker Georgie Kelly, medical Friday.

This despite Warney denying any interest for weeks.
I hope it is true and Ladapo is on his way.

We're definitely in for him. I think Burton and DC United are as well so I'm not super hopeful.
If we could get Yan Dhanda that would be a ridiculous signing.

In other news, the signing we made today is, on paper, absolutely bonkers. If he is the calibre of player we can attract in a do or die transfer window, then I fear the club is in an even worse state than I, the eternal pessimist, had realised. Fingers crossed his career to date has been a smokescreen and he's actually decent.

Yeah, agree with all that. I'm just clinging to the fact he's been playing in the top flight in foreign countries so far and I don't how many of those games he's played so far have been from the start.

Dominic Thompson confirmed from Brentford until the end of the season, impressive.

Expect him to start at Wednesday with KVY suspended, coupled with Penney & Coulson lacking match fitness.
