We probably aren't far enough North to justify his comments, but Smith will be on the look out for a central midfielder. He loves a ball playing midget or 18 so, perhaps Fox would be on his radar. He'd still have to travel 80 miles to get from Manchester and back to training though, so that may be unrealistic.

Oldham, Bury, Dale perhaps. Rochdale and Keith Hill sound a good fit/

Between us and Blackpool for him apparently. Barnsley also interested but can't see him holding down a place there. He was born 15-20 miles away from Crewe so makes me think we've got a huge chance.

He was at Blackpool when we signed him the first time all those years ago so perhaps that could influence any decision. Last summer I think he was training with Preston before he became ill as well, so another in that neck of the woods.

Grayson was just letting him train with us, don't think we were ever interested in signing him.

I reckon he will end up at Blackpool's more attractive neighbours, Fleetwood.

Swear he's got a Dad working at Blackpool too. That said living in Manchester myself it's much easier to commute to Crewe than Blackpool which makes me think we're in for him. Lad who works for our paper says he happens to be from the same town as our assistant manager in Staffordshire and they know each other so hoping we can snap him up.

Not in for him apparently, they seem content to stick with the mediocre fat fuck that is Antoni Sarcevic.

Was with us last pre-season but didn't sign - we signed Stephen Dawson instead.

Wouldn't be totally surprised if he's on the place to Tenerife this summer - but whether it's next week with us or the week after with Bury I wouldn't like to guess...

I couldn't see us signing him unless Liam Kelly is sold.

We were linked with him last summer if I remember correctly. Good player but I don't think he's on our radar

Looks like we'll try tie up Martyn Woolford over the next few days from the sounds being made.

Wonder if they may move on to Bradshaw next if you lot say no.
Accepted a bid for Smith from Sheffield United before Clough got the boot.

Expect a bid of 500-600k would be enough for us to say yes.

Our Head of Recruitment Lee Turnbull is going to Sheffield United, due to the Adkins connection of course.

Big blow for us.

That would be a snappy comeback if not for the fact Spencer got his ACL snapped in a one-off freak challenge then played the end of the season on one leg like a fucking Spartan - yet Bradshaw manages to pull a hamstring any time he gets off his arse. Soft tart.

If we could some how fluke signing the players we are currently linked with:

Paul Rabchuka (back up keeper)
Raheem Hanley (left back on loan from Swansea)
Alan Tate (Centre back released from Swansea)
David Fox (midfield)
John Lundstram (midfield)
Souleymane Coulibaly (forward, coming in on trial soon)

If we got all them I'd be fairly optimistic, reality is though we're Crewe and we will be lucky just to sign the keeper.

Wasn't our old friend Firthy arguing until he was blue in the face last year praising Hanson and how he was miles better than Tom Pope and one of the best outside the top two divisions at what he does? Quite amusing.

I argued until I was blue in face, purely because Hanson IS better than Tom Pope in the 'target man' role. Hanson IS one of the best target men outside the top two divisions, that I still stand by....but I would like to see my club veer away from those kinda tactics. Great cup form, granted, but with regards to the league, it hasn't been pretty.

My point being, Hanson is still shite and fails to provide us with what we require the most; goals....and if someone wants to give us £500k and take on his £3,500 p/w wages, then it's a win-win IMO.

Really? A simple google search would direct you to sufficient fuel for my fire.

I really don't know what you think I'd gain for spouting bollocks, but then again, ask me if I'm bothered.

Hanson signed on £1,100 PW wages in L2 in 2008. He's renewed his contract twice since then.

We may sell ST's for peanuts, but don't compare your tinpot playing budget with ours...simply no comparison sunshine - because I think that is what you're getting at. It's not our fault you couldn't offered Tom Pope's wage demands....£4k PW....when we were paying more than that for Andrew Davies in L2.

We were paying his 4k wages in league two to be fair, we just decided it wasn't value for money now.
