Milwall have signed Jordan Archer and Joe Martin, both on 2 year deals.

Archer. Christ. A lot of our fans very happy as that means we won't be signing him.

Like another poster mentioned above, Jonathan Forte had only scored about 40 goals in his entire career prior to moving to Latics, and he bagged nearly 1 in 2 for us last year.

I’m by no means jumping from the rooftops over this Cassidy signing, but he proved a while ago that he can hit the onion bag if he wants to. I’m merely hoping a new start, with a permanent contract rather than being banded about on loan continuously, can bring about an upturn in his fortunes. He was free at the end of the day, and wont be on big wages.

Having seen Forte and Cassidy quite a bit for Notts in recent year, they're not remotely comparable. Not even close.

Michael Jacobs linked as well as Zoltan Gera to the League 1 champions 2015/16.

I'd much rather take £500k than have Hanson.

I've never seen so much drama over such a mediocre player.

Unsure about the Lundstram signing, seems to me as another Chris Atkinson type player but slightly better and fitter and Davis is hyping him up.

Heard we've been linked with Ness, an LB on loan from a Prem side. We're due to sign Rachubka imminently, we're looking at an experienced midfielder with Championship and League One experience (Realistic names mentioned include Marvin Bartley, David Fox, Anthony Wordsworth) and Alan Tate wants to re-sign but with Davis thinking his son is the second coming of Franz Beckenbauer that sadly won't happen and we'll concede a ton of goals again.

Junior Brown has left us to go to Shrewsbury... Was hoping he would be off somewhere, was outstanding on loan, got his contract then he was utter shit, faked injuries, and got sent off to have a few weeks off... absolutely rubbish and can't see him doing anything other sitting on the bench or in the sands in league one. Pace and strength are two things that let him down, i thought he looked a bit of a conference standard player

Seriously, the Port Vale scouting department is so so lazy. All they do is sit at Gresty Road cherry picking our out of contract players.

Just as well they signed Grant, the Ex-Alex quota at Vale Park was dipping with Pope moving to Bury. :shifty: Good signing mind, he is a good player at this level. Not the sort of player that will help you kick on up the table at this level but a nasty, dirty winner who we really could have done with keeping. Our loss is Vale's gain. Roll on the opening day, its set to be a tasty one!

Anthony Grant, Sam Foley, Michael O'Connor and also Michael Brown as central midfield options seems decent! Probably means Chris Lines is off to Bristol Rovers. No idea what Purkiss is like. Need 2 good strikers now!

Anthony Grant sitting behind O'Connor and Foley looks a decent midfield 3.

I'm so glad we tied Chris Atkinson down to a 2 year deal when we signed him otherwise it'd look almost embarrassing losing our best player to Vale.
Shit, when did Ben Garratt sign for the Vale?!

So you wouldn't swap 10 goals a season which you could probably replace with a free or a loan for £500k? I could understand if he scored 25 goals or something but he's hardly that profilic.

He contributes much more than goals to our team and his best is yet to come, We would only receive £350k due to guisleys sell on clause. Where could we find better than Hanson for that. We just need to get him some decent wingers and more goals will come

Small bit of good news for us today as Scott Shearer leaves the club. Good riddance. Means we can now get goalie coach Fred Barber and backup goalie Paul Rachubka back. Goalie department at the very least with look better than it did 12 months ago.

Walsall
Purkiss is a deceptively decent signing. I get it, Walsall cast offs. People only questioned him leaving in Smith's released list this summer, 90% of fans would have kept him. When he first signed I looked at him and thought no, tall, gangly, slow. But actually over the last few years he has become a fan favourite and our best performances came football wise when he got down the right hand side and crossed the ball. He is slow and can be caught out defensively on the counter attack, but he's solid, good in the air and whips a reasonable ball in.

Solid signing. It's probably a decent move for both sides providing he's used how he should be.

He can also comfortably slot in to the centre so he's versatile if you need a late sub, or are playing with injuries/10.

About time we had a tall defender who is decent in the air.

In all seriousness, Raheem Hanley from Swansea linked with us, don't know much about him.

In a few months time when we need a CB I thoroughly expect us to be after Joe Davis, be Steve's dream that would!

Both have a 1 in 5 record throughout their careers, so i'll give Cassidy the benefit of the doubt*

*For now

A questionable sampling method. Forte's always had far more interesting qualities than Cassidy - he's got pace and finishing ability and was played out on the wing for probably at least half those games you've included (which you've failed to factor in) - Cassidy doesn't really possess any attributes that will lead to him being a good striker, he's quite tall and works hard and that's about it.
