It's Firthy so you need to deduct a little from the fee to account for his obligatory exaggeration.

Probably not far from the truth considering we've had two six figure bids turned down previously.

Nothing official yet, just social media rumours - but apparently a £500k fee has been agreed with Millwall for James Hanson. Expected to undergo a medical on Mon/Tues!

We're also interested in Orients Marvin Bartley. We tried to sign him when he left Burnley last year.

Bartley was a strange one for us, he came in mainly as backup to Lloyd James and Romain Vincelot and that is how he was mainly used in his 2 seasons with us.

He had talent but could never get a decent run of games due to the performances of the other two players never really got a run of games, until last season when Vincelot got injured and he had to play and he got some very good form behind him.

He is one of those players that needs a long run of games to get any sort of form, when he was coming off the bench here and there and starting one game and then being dropped, his performances were at times frustrating and far too inconsistent. He has a very good engine fitness wise though.

2 transfer targets revealed tomorrow. Exciting

It's Mooney from Orient and Anthony Wordsworth.

Will take Mooney he scored loads of goals for Orient in the season before last. Unsure on Wordsworth he had injury problems at Ipswich, was he any good for Crawley last year?

I'd love Mooney here, kind of striker that would fit to how Darren Kelly says he would like to play.

Smith in talks with a goalkeeper and a forward this passed weekend.

Jordan Archer and Owain Fon Williams the keepers linked (would be chuffed with OFW) and Miles Storey seems to be the only 'forward' player linked recently. Hopefully it's Hiwula on a season long loan.

A winger from a Football League club is a done deal, it's just on hold at the moment.

Christian Burgess & Joe Newell off to Portsmouth too. Not really bothered by that. Newell was our POTY but that just says more about the rest of them really.

Wordsworth was the best player on the park when we played at home to Crawley at the back end of last season. It's a shame he seems to hate us these days as I would take him back for sure. Mooney was very intelligent when he was on loan a few years ago, excellent link up play with the ball on the floor. Shown he knows where the goal is too - would be two decent signings for you.

Chris Porter has been linked. Christ.

I really like Porter, he's an excellent target man but a lot more mobile than you would expect and would easily net 15 a season if he continued as he did for us last season.

Can't see it though as he's under contract for another season and would need a fee.

The latest from our end is that he is mulling over deals from Ourselves, yourselves, Stevenage & Colchester.

Stevenage are apparently in poll position. Some have said he hasn't been offered a deal to stay with us, but the man in the know on our forum reckons he has. I will be surprised if he stays with us.

He'd been a good signing for you, but he will require patience as he is 30 & has no idea how the offside rule works & has at least one or two major brain farts per game where he messes a pass up.

Good with the ball at his feet though and a good passer as well as a good worker.

The main reason we never signed Mooney originally after his loan spell was his wage demands were too high - and considering this was at a time when we were spending far more than we are now, it is a little surprising if Stevenage are the front runners.

Also,he likes a dive and was shocking at it, he very rarely got any free kicks and he would usually dive to try and get them. Very frustrating and requires patience as I said!

Yeah I've seen Saunders reckons Crawley would of stayed up if they could of kept AW his stats there were very impressive 18 games 4 goals and 12 assists seems to have the creativity we've been missing. His family support us so maybe that explains his hatred for you!

It's been rumoured that even if the fee is not that big for Hanson (can't see it being 500k, would love it if it was) then he is doubling or tripling his wages at Millwall. He wasn't really on peanuts here with his contract extensions so Millwall must have a fair bit of money, or they are spending a lot of money on him at least.

We've signed Matthew Briggs on a free from Millwall. Can't say I was impressed with him during his loan spell last season, so it is very underwhelming - I said I would be surprised if there wasn't someone better out there. Would rather have had Garmston back than Briggs, so Gillingham have done better on that one.

Only hope is that he can fulfil his potential as, despite being 24, hasn't really played that much. A shame that we're still signing defenders who can't really defend all that well though.

Could he be the winger Posh are after? Nearer his London home maybe?

Walsall linked with our legend Lloyd Doyley.

Excellent defender one on one but maybe not the best on the ball.

This came from an "ex-football agent" on twitter... I would doubt it.

Could however make sense as a CB if James Chambers leaves to replace him.

No thanks, wrong age. Strikes me as a winding down, oil tanker that will get eaten time and time again by any player with pace.

Fee been agreed with Bradford for Hanson. Deal will go ahead once they've lined up a replacement.

Martin's only a one year deal, which seems completely pointless unless he's just here to boost the numbers.

Think Archer will be our #1 when Forde leaves. Coaching staff seem to rate him highly.
