Maybe, poor manager though and most of the real quality in your side departing makes it hard to bet otherwise, we kept pretty much the same side that did so well in our first season back in League One (In fact on paper it was probably stronger last season) yet found the 2nd season much tougher over the 46 games in a weaker league than our first season.

Shame as Chesterfield built a good squad and were arguably the best team we played last season but it will be a tough season unless you bring in some quality to replace the outgoing players.

I'm not going to try and defend Saunders because i didn't want him here and i reckon he was a poor choice of manager but there's no point moaning about it now. I accept that we'll see a massive decline in the quality of football played *cold shivers* but even with that said, i still think he'll pick up enough results along the way.

You say most of our quality departing, come August there might be a lot more truth to that but as things stand we've lost 2 players, 2 good players admittedly but's it's not quite a Southampton style exodus yet (and their season didn't turn out too bad did it?) Any of our players leaving from this point on will be commanding a fee and whilst a fair chunk of that would go to debt repayment, i'd imagine Saunders would have a bit more money to play around with if that's how it transpires, how well he'd make use of it is another thing.....

Last season was nice but even with Cook et al. still here it would have been hard to repeat. And whilst i don't expect us to be challenging the play-offs again there's still plenty of ordinary teams in this league to ensure i'm not worried about relegation. I'd like us to avoid a slow start to the season because if you struggle early doors it can set the tone for the season and before you know it you're into the second-half of the season and you're still lingering down there (like our 11/12 season) but i think we'll fine to be honest.

Mark Lawn will be haggling with Millwall over an extra tenner for Hanson for the next week so no signings until then.

80% of the fee will be going into one of his loan repayment funds so no doubt we'll be fishing around in the shitpool anyway.

Do Guisely get any pennies when we sell Hanson?

That will be us!
I think we look like signing players. Missed out on Clarke, linked with Gobern, apparently taking Souleymane Coubaily on trial, offered a deal to Greg Leigh(who we should be hearing back from today), still could move for Tate, looking at getting Ness back. I also think Colclough will eventually sign. I just don't think any interested parties will stump up the transfer fee we'll ask for or risk a tribunal setting a figure either.

I think we'll have signed a CB, a LB and a CM by the time the season starts. Reckon they might have to wait to get any extra bodies upfront and in midfield, but I do think we'll have 3 new players by the time the season starts. I mean, lets remember our first friendly isn't for 21 days and our first game isn't for 50 days. I understand that it feels like deja vu with us at the moment, but I don't think we need to be too alarmed as of yet.

We've signed George Green on a 2yr deal:

Oldham Athletic have agreed terms with attacking midfielder George Green following his release from Everton.

The 19-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the club, with the option of a third.
Speaking about the deal, Green said: "I play as a number 10 in the hole and I can bring creativity to the squad.
"I make chances for the strikers and want to pitch in with a few goals as well to help the club achieve promotion next season.
"Joe Royle at Everton pushed me towards Oldham because of his relationship with the club and I managed to get the move and I'm delighted to be here.
"The gaffer has got a good footballing philosophy and he conducts himself very well so I can't wait to work under him."
Manager Darren Kelly added: "George is an excellent creative player who can open things up and will be a massive asset to the team.
"He is excellent on the ball and his delivery into the box is absolutely superb and I'm excited to work with him.
"After speaking to George, he is hungry and cannot wait to get cracking.
"He is still a young lad and his ambition matches mine in terms of being successful so I'm delighted to have him on board."
Green will officially join the club on July 1.
Green definitely has potential. Scored a decent goal on his loan spell debut with us and is a decent set-piece taker. The weakness in his game is that he is too selfish; wants to do it all himself rather than pass to a better placed team-mate. If that can be drilled out of him, could be a quality signing.

I'm genuinely not confident of signing anyone. When your budget is heavily reliant on player sales and none are forthcoming as of yet, we're in trouble. Even cheap dross like Turton and Guthrie would've signed by now if something wasn't up.

Deano has met with a goalkeeper and a striker, hopefully get some signings finally next week.

Not got a fucking clue who they are though, could be dross. Only player that we've been confirmed to be looking at is Gobern and it sounds like we haven't even met with him yet.

Not got a clue either whether Adam and James Chambers will be here next season either. Both haven't signed their deals so they could be going to lower league clubs, packing the game in or just having a REALLY long holliday.

I just have very little faith in Davis and I don't think many of players do either.

Ironically given how much I think he's nowhere near good enough, I think Turton is a key figure in where we, as a club, are. If Turton fails to sign a contract for a man who has played him in countless different positions to prove to fans he's a decent player, then we really are up shit creek without a paddle. If we can't sign crap like Turton and Guthrie up straightaway we have no chance of signing ANY quality whatsoever.

Business model really needs to change at our club, several million in player sales and yet we still seemingly have no money. Academy is haemorrhaging money breeding little shits like Clayton and Colclough who leave us for sweet fa. Off field revenue is a disgrace. Idiots like Andy Franks and Alison Bowler have positions in the club despite being unfit for purpose. We still aren't any closer to getting Norman Hassall off the board. I honestly believe we're on course for a sharp decline if the required changes aren't made.

Nothing official yet, just social media rumours - but apparently a £500k fee has been agreed with Millwall for James Hanson. Expected to undergo a medical on Mon/Tues!

We're also interested in Orients Marvin Bartley. We tried to sign him when he left Burnley last year.

I think we're going to sign Owain Fon Williams.

Deano met with a goalie recently. He's said he's after someone under 29 or 30 that we can develop and compete for the number 1 shirt, but who has league experience. We've been linked with McLoughlin, but he confirmed he hasn't met Deano recently. We were linked with Mark Oxley a week or so ago but our reporter reported the link was untrue. Only other goalie out there that fits the bill for me is Fon Williams, who I think is the better of the 3 too.

I could be completely wrong as sign some nobody though however.

Two in next week, one from Prem and one from championship.

Rumours suggest George Green and Jake Cassidy.

Cassidy will do very well to find a League 1 team. If you sign him, most Notts fans will tell you he was abysmal, which he absolutely wasn't, he's kind of alright, wins a few headers, isn't the worst technically and runs himself into the ground for you but he's one of the least intelligent strikers I've ever watched and he simply isn't anywhere near a big enough goal threat, creative force or a dominating targetman to warrant a place in a League 1 side. Seems like the sort that should spend his career switching between Accrington, Newport, Wrexham and Tranmere and occasionally manages to find his way to double figures at those levels.

I didn't dislike him though particularly...just didn't really like him/see much potential either.

Definitely offers us something that our other forwards don't, but all the same... that fee...

"Trust in Harris's judgment," "I'll wait to see how he fits into our system before I judge," etc, etc.
