Stead would be a direct replacement for Hanson, worse aerially but better at link up play and holding it up, will score about the same number of goals. The fact we still haven't signed him after it was apparently a 'done deal' means we have probably fcked that up too.

Risky? He's done nothing since that stint at Tranmere a couple of years back. Suppose he has time to turn that round. Certainly no need for a 3 year deal though.

Extremely risky in my eyes but Kelly must see something so im willing to give the lad a chance, 0 goals in 17 for Southend last year is worrying though.

It's actually 5 in his last 87 - I genuinely expected him to drop into non-league and I was in 2 minds as to whether I would have had him at us. He certainly works hard and seemed a really nice lad, I hope he makes a decent career for himself but I'm surprised a league 1 side has taken a risk on him.

Cassidy is piss poor. Isn't really any positives to his game other than that he works hard.

Terrible idea giving him a two year contract! He scored a few when we were top of League One a few years ago but his strike rate since then has been dreadful.

Adam McGurk has joined Pompey.
Is that much of a loss to you Burton fans?

Improved much? I remember him being very average last time he was in this division.

We have said we will listen to offers for Ryan Colclough, but there hasn't been any interest in him as of yet. Greg Leigh deal looks dead, we are apparently miles apart in terms of wages. Scott Shearer looks like he will be leaving allowing us bring in Rabchuka and goal keeper coach Fred Barber. Apparently in talks with a 21 year old playmaker midfielder who's been released by a premier league team and has had loan spells in league 1 and championship. Also a premier league left back and midfielder could come in on loan on 1st July. Steve Davis rubbished reports linking us to Oscar Gobern.

Cassidy does work hard if he added goals to his game could be quite a shrewd buy but he really never looked like scoring for us

Forte never scored goals before he came here. Im not saying he is a good signing, infact I'm leaning more towards poor signing, but im not going to write him off yet.

Junior Brown joins Shrewsbury after spending the second half of last season at Mansfield. He was okay I suppose.

Think the midfielder is probably John Lundstram, he seems to fit the bill. 21, released by Everton been on loan in league 1 and championship. Don't know much about him to be honest. But he will no doubt choose to go elsewhere.

Another worldie free transfer signing for Blackpool, John Herron from Celtic.

Nope, I've not heard of him either.

Owners aside, with our transfer business so far its no wonder we are among the favourites to go down again. Might lump on myself then at least if it happens (which I think is a very good chance) I earn from it :eye:

Very good for us in the latter part of the season. Great passer, one of our best players basically

Junior Brown :bl:

Odd signing for League 1. He was okay for us in League 2 for about 3 games, then couldn't be arsed for the rest. No end product & lack of pace holds him back.

Has lovely hair though.

After some initial promising signings, in Mat Sadler, Martin Woods and to a lesser extent Abu Ogogu, Mellon's more recent signings have largely been poor and contradict his earlier comments about wanting players with League 1 experience.

Our squad currently looks reasonably solid but very much lacking in striking fire power for League 1, James Collins aside, so I can't see Town making much impact this season as things stand.

Apparently Cassidy was your number 1 target this summer. A lot of pressure on a guy that hasn't performed well for a few years.

Like another poster mentioned above, Jonathan Forte had only scored about 40 goals in his entire career prior to moving to Latics, and he bagged nearly 1 in 2 for us last year.

I’m by no means jumping from the rooftops over this Cassidy signing, but he proved a while ago that he can hit the onion bag if he wants to. I’m merely hoping a new start, with a permanent contract rather than being banded about on loan continuously, can bring about an upturn in his fortunes. He was free at the end of the day, and wont be on big wages.

Apparently we are in talks with Liverpool defender Kevin Stewart.

I noticed he was on loan at Burton last season, any good, Brewers?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but he should have stayed at Tranmere rather than going back to Wolves. Seems to have gone all downhill since then.
